  • Rebel - Please go to the LAWL Losers & Friends - May '05 thread and read the posts from 5/24 regarding your wanting to do LAWL with their help, they are all very supportive (I just love that group of chicks).........Trina

    Hi Holly.....
  • Thank you Trina! I will go and pop in there as soon I am done posting here. We got some bad news. Mike got his 30 day lay-off notice. Sometimes I wonder if this year can get any worse. We struggle with him working and now this. I laid in bed last night and cried to myself. It just seems like a slap in the face...if that makes sense. Plus I know how badly he feels about it and there's not a thing I can do to make it better. I hate not having control. I am really being strong for him and I tell him that he will get hired back and we're going to be ok, but deep down I'm not so sure. They say that some of the jobs will open back up in October, so we'll see. He does get unemployment, but still. It's just been a bad year, but I know that at some point it will turn around. Anyhow, I just had to let ya know.

    Big Hugs to you ladies!

    Hi Holly!
  • Andrea - there's a big hug from me, I feel your pain. I'd do the same thing for my DH as far as showing a brave face. Is he in a union, will he look for another job? I know unemployment is not enuf to live on. One time I collected it and still had to borrow money from my mom and my brother (back when I was single pre-DH). I don't know how anyone lives on it.

My boys are going thru a financial struggle too. One is a roofer, his wife works, they have one baby. If the weather is bad, he doesn't work, seems like they are always just hanging in there. The other son is a Millwright, he works mostly when the big auto shops shutdown, then he goes in and does conveyor work. sometimes he goes out of state, his wife doesn't work and stays home with their son. So he will work for a month and be off for two. Granted they can both get unemplyment when they are off, but like I said no one can actually live on it.

I try to help my boys when they need it and when I can. Right now they both owe me about $600. At some point I have to stop giving them money and realize that we are gonna retire soon and we will need all our money. I wish (talking about control Andrea) that they both had office desk jobs and got paid 40 hours a week - blah-blah-blah......See there is no such thing as control.....

Didn't mean to steal the show from you Andrea. I will say a prayer for all of us right now......or if I could just win the lottery.....

    Big HUGS.....
  • I understand, Trina. Mike says that unemployment will pay about $360 a week and if thats the case, it will be tight, but we can manage. Plus my summer work will give me more hours and an increase in pay. I really don't want to work a part-time evening job, but I will if it comes to that point.

I think its natural for moms to help their kids. My mom (who can't afford it) tries to help us, but its an absolute last resort for me to ask. I think that we had to once. Otherwise we will juggle things or something.

I keep wishing for that lottery, too... You know winning that would take away about 95% of my troubles. I'd get gastric bypass, then have tons of surgery to get the skin looking tight, and have loads of $. WOW! It'd be great! Although, I guess it could bring some troubles, too, but at this point I'd take 'em!
  • Andrea - Are you considering gastric bypass? I know there is a thread on here somewhere for it. I think after you lose 100 pounds your skin removal surgery is covered by your insurance. I know a girl that had it.....
    Trina
  • I really wish, but our insurance won't cover it. I've called them before. Also, our insurance will run out after the lay off.
  • Maybe if DH gets another job, the insurance will change. This is terrible to admit but when I see all those gastric bypass success stories on tv I get alittle jealous. Then I wish there was a mini one for people who can't lose that last 15/20 pounds.....I know I'm bad.
  • I feel the exact same way. I have always wanted to lose it by myself, but I think that it would be great to have the surgery, too. I really hope that Dh gets called back b/c he LOVES his job.
  • I hope he gets called back too Andrea........I'll keep my fingers crossed :
  • Thanks Star for crossing your fingers! It's almost time to go home. Oh, don't forget I may not be online real early tomorrow, but I will pop in and say hi!
  • Hello chicks!! GREAT! were these added by 3FC? or did you put them there, Star? anyhoo, thanks!

Rebel, I'm so sorry about your guy's layoff. sigh, money isn't everything, but it surely greases the way. I'll be thinking of you, keeping my fingers crossed also!

Hi Star! how's our favorite blonde biker hottie

elective surgery...do you girls know what I want? new girls yes, I would go for breast enhancement. Bigger, higher, firmer, oh yeah that's all I want...plus a bigger bike

I have to shop for a new lawn mower. Our lawn is just too hilly and bumpy to have a rider, so we have a gas push-type. But it bit the big one, is many years old...and woudn't start. SO this high-energy girl just did the *^%$#@ lawn with a regular, old-fashioned Amish farmertype push-rotary-blade mower!! that was like my second workout of the day. Breathing HARD, pushing hard...it really was a 1 1/2 hour workout, so with my exercise before, that makes 2 1/2 hours for today

I'm SO looking forward to our ride this Sunday. Will definitely let you know about it
  • Hey girls - Well I mean Holly and Andrea (not your new girls HOly)...lol

If you want them and can afford or fanagle them - I say go for it, Life is too short and we need to make ourselves as happy as possible.....I'm looking a a lower face lift....hum.......maybe a raising of the girls....lol

Only have a minute - won't be here tomorrow - will be doing our garage sale up north. Be back on Tuesday and I'll yell at you two then. Hope you both have a great weekend and both of you stay out of trouble!!!
  • Hey ladies!
I borrowed mom's comp for the evening and just wanted to stop in and say hi! I have been so busy lately babysitting my brand new niece. She's only 3 weeks old and a bit intimading, but I was getting the hang of it. Now, dh isn't so sure about little ones. He likes to do as we please without babies involved. LOL!

Holly- My girls aren't super itty or anything ( alot saggy...LOL), but nothing to brag about either, but I would like to corral the girls up a bit, expand them, and then things would be sweeeeeeeeet!!! Of course that would be after my weight loss surgery and full body tuck...ah, to dream...

Trina- You look awesome, you don't need any facial surgery, silly! Have fun at the garage sale and good luck with the sales!

Well, ladies have a fantastic weekend and I'll check back on Tuesday.

    Big Hugs
  • Hi chicks!!

Our Vermont thunder ride was awesome! met up with our friend from Rutland; over 400 bikes, don't know total count.

Weather was perfect!! (because I was prepared for rain, that's why it didnt, lol)

have to go to my icky sister's for bbq today, oh well.

    ttyl!!
  • Morning BIker Babes...
Hey Chicks......Was too busy to actually miss you, but way glad to be back and yacking with you!

Andrea - You are too sweet, wish you lived near me. I think we would be great for each others ego.....

Then we could ride more with that Biker Chick - Holly! Glad the weather was great for your ride girl! On those things you always have to be ready for rain. It bites when your not ready and you get stuck riding for 4 hours in a down pour.

Our four day weekend was fantastic! Both of my DS's, one DIL and one GB were there. Also a couple that is good friends of one DS. That is what I call quality time. DGB(Dear Grand Baby) David loved the beach and loved playing with the two dogs, Chevy and Sadie. One is full boxer and Chevy my DDGB (Dear Dog Grand Baby ) is half boxer half Charpai (sp?). They almost licked David silly, which was great becuz he doesn't have a family dog and hasn't really been around any. It was so cute they played chase and hug, etc.

Anyhow our garage sale was only Friday and Sat and we made $440. Which is enuf to put a drywall ceiling in our place up there. We were thrilled with the outcome. Plus we met alot of the locals up there and got rid of alot of our extra stuff.

Oh on a fun note, the girl that came up works for a plastic surgeon here, she gave me alot of helpful hints on what is available out there. The more I learn the more I want..... Deep down, I know I should just be happy with what I have and forget about it, but it never hurts to dream....

Speaking of our dreams of being in great shape and looking good. I was not on LAWL eating plan this past weekend. I ate more like a normal person on a diet. With LA you have to eat everything on plan, skipping nothing. Since I didn't do that I was off plan. I did weigh this a.m. to see what the damage was and I'm up alittle. I will go and face the music at LA (Center of Doom) at lunch today and get back with the program....But I really enjoyed eating alittle more normal for those four days......

Well I have gone on long enuf..... I'll check back in later....
    Hugs -
Hey Andrea - Tell us all about your busy weekend.......
