Good morning girls,

This site is horridly slow for me. Been that way for days. I don't have an hours to sit here and wait for it so this will be a short post.

Annie - have fun with your DD today.

Shad - that building sounds HORRID. I think you were better off in the bush

Mel - hope the paperwork is half what you think it is. Busy day for you sending you some sun but all we have is bad humid too.

Ceejay - we got a lot of lightning and some thunder but very little rain Saturday morning around 1am. Yikes on the tree!

Michelle - I'm sure you spent the weekend cleaning up. NOT what you need with your back right now.

Laura - sounds like you were the only one with a decent chance at a weekend

Gotta run. Back later. Hope this post takes.

Hi ladies -

Today is going to be a busy day. Lots of work to get done, plus I have to call a tree service AND a garage door repair company. We have more than just the one branch to bring down...several branches on several trees....ka-ching. I'm seeing more of my 401K loan going out the window. The garage door is not covered by the home warranty...how crazy is that?! And I've got physical therapy at lunchtime. The stress of the weekend and the amount of work/cleanup still left to do is getting to me.

Laura - I totally understand the overwhelming feeling you're talking about. I can't even think about weeds or mowing the lawn with all the branches and debris still to clean up. We love our yard...but it definitely is a log of work.

Shad - We could use some "hired help" in the yard, but DH wouldn't hear of it. He insists on doing it himself which I like to do too...when there's a reasonable amount of work to be done. Your frend Mick sounds like a very nice guy. Anyone who understands the importance of family is okay in my book. Depending how on high the estimate from the tree service company is...it might be cheaper for us to fly your DS out here! (Even though I sincerely hope the estimate is not that pricey!) The Fairy Wren looks adorable and like he'd be a good listener too! Sounds like you are definitely working in a Faulty Towers building! Sheesh! I got a great laugh about the pigeon poo keeping the window leaks closed!

Ceejay - Glad you didn't have any storm damage!

Annie - I hope you're having a blast with DD at King's Island!! I got exhausted just reading about your day at CVS yesterday! Glad you had a nice time with Doug on Friday. So nice of you to take care of DD's doggies. We used to have an epileptic dog. We were able to keep it controlled with meds and he lived a happy long life. Now we have a diabetic doggie who is 3/4 blind. I'll ask my docs and pt about a back brace. The might help.

Mel - Bummer that the seniors had so many medical problems during the weekend. The garage will probably cost more than $50 because the home warranty doesn't cover it. But hopefully it and the cost of the tree services won't be too outrageous.

Happy - My back actually did okay with the wood chipping. I was sitting on a chair most of the weekend. I'll be doing more wood chipping tonight after work. What really bothered my back was picking up the sticks/branches, but once they were in a pile for me to pull from, I did just fine.

I've got to sign off and get my butt (er...back) to PT.

Love and hugs to all,

Hello everyone.

Shad - Well, you've reminded me to be appreciative of the very nice building I work in. Elevator expert reportedly on site during work hours, always being warned when any sort of work is being done so we're aware in advance of any noisy or odiferous work to be done. LOL about the pigeon poop keeping the windows from leaking. But you've got me beat on the view. I might have to bring my camera to work so I can post pics of my view. Sounds like you had a productive weekend!! Oh, most of bf's rant wasn't directed at me but at the computer, although at one point in the rant he talked about getting a new computer and I'm sure that was for my benefit, LOL.

Ceejay - Glad you weren't impacted by the storm. Yes, I did get some retail therapy yesterday! Bought some items for a couple sewing projects I'll be doing. Also went to Marshalls, tried on a couple blouses but bought nothing.

Mel - We had some nice weather yesterday, and more on the way. I hope it makes its way to your part of the world so you can open the windows a bit and go outdoors. Yeh, men can be real PITAs. I think I need to start speaking my mind instead of holding my tongue. Can I do that without turning into a nagging b*tch??

Annie - Sounds like a busy weekend. Poor doggy w/ epilepsy. My brother had a dog w/ severe epilepsy and he ended up putting him to sleep. He probably couldn't afford the meds your dd gives her dog, but he had the dog on sedative type pills and it could barely get around on those. Enjoy yourself at Kings Island!!

Happy - Sorry the site is being slow for you. My Sat. was good, but Sunday started bad and didn't really get better til later in the day. So I had half of a decent weekend.

Hi Michelle! I hope the garage door opener is covered under the warranty and gets replaced quickly and painlessly!

After posting yesterday, I was still not having a great day. I methodically searched a shelving unit in the garage and still didn't find my good pruning shears. All summer they haven't turned up. Time to buy a new pair. When I do, the other pair will show up, of course. I got ticked off at bf all over again when I decided to check his workbench for something. What a !@#$%^ mess! Even though I found the instructions to a timer I'd been looking for a while back, I was still in a crummy mood when he finally got back home.

The wall mounted lamps over the head of our bed in our bedroom BOTH turned themselves on - twice. Going in that room and seeing them both on, and knowing I hadn't turned them on, not once, but TWICE, freaked me out. We added an attachment to them that turns them into touch lamps and bf told me he thinks that and some sort of magnetic current caused them to do that. That never happened before. Weird.

Later in the day I was in the car at a stoplight and discovered a bee in the car and of course I went crazy until I got it to fly out of the car. Sigh.

The rest of the day was alright I guess. I bought some items for a couple sewing projects, bought some groceries, and made some salsa. Even though bf and I like spicy food, I was scared I'd add too much heat, and I ended up not adding enough chili pepper. I added more. Hope it's got some kick after sitting overnight.

I didn't bring any workout clothes today, so I'll go outside at lunch. Tonight I'll exercise at home.

That's about it for now, so I'll post.

Michelle you snuck in on me! How sucky that the garage door opener isn't covered by the home warranty! Sorry the tree is going to need more work and more $$. It was a costly weekend for you and DH. Hope the PT session goes well.

These insurance companies are complete bah humbug. Oh heck, the poultergeist is at it again. Hang on a minute

Right back again. One of these days, I will turn around and see a huge crack in one of the windows, but not today - at least not yet.

Mel - I love that saying - Smile, it makes the *******s wonder what you have been up to!!!! Sums up my horrible sense of humour well.
The job prospects are just that - prospect right now. I apparently sent the wrong cv to the Melbourne recruiter, so I had to re do that last night. My computer appears to be on a go slow so it doesn't pay to scroll slowly down lists. I need to get in there and have a look at it. It is almost past it's prime and I will require a new one soon. But in the meantime, I'll make do with this one. I need a new car too. This one is 6 years old and has hardly any resale value left. Sort of toying with thoughts of the Holden Cruise, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, but haven't really even started looking yet. I can hear a friend of mine saying - you aren't looking for resale value this time either but......... I don't want to pay big $$$$ for the next one, much as I might like a Mercedes C180 Kompressor or a BMW whatever. I'm relatively happy with cheap and cheerful, easy to source parts, small to mid size, whatevers. Which is not to say I wouldn't accept one if any of you wanted to give me something????

Michelle - sorry to hear that the insurance won't pay out. *******s!!!!
You pay your money, your hear half the story, you find out the hard way, that what was said and what is written is not anywhere near similar. We've had a similar story with flooding over here. And people who thought they were covered for floods were only covered for water damage - hello is there a difference?? Apparently there is. And they wonder why people won't take out insurance??? I heard once, that an insurance company refused to pay out on a life insurance because the deceased wasn't there to sign for it!!!! WTF. That went to the law and got chuckd out of court.

Annie - must be in recovery by now. All those rides and terror - she'll be uncontrollable by next week. No need to feel guilty about Dad Annie, the brothers are there and you spent a lot of time with him recently anyway. We can not be all things to all people.

Happy - my system here at work is deadly slow today. I keep thinking that if it is like that here, what are they copping out in the bush? No service at all??

Laura - Ha - so you have a ghost in your house turning things on and off. Hope you don't wake up in the middle of the night to them flashing and a gruesome vision in the mirror.

I'd better go do some work before one of the following happens:
I get sillier
The building falls down
The system goes down
It gets to be 'going home time' and no work has been done.

Good morning all,

Yup, site is still slow for me. Takes about a full minute for a page to respond. And it's just this place. It's slow if I check it at work also.

So Mel you have the power to pop light bulbs That would make you Oz in the tribal times I have alot of static too - winters are terrible for me but I think you have us beat. Do you shock people shaking hands too? Send us some of the rain if you will - it's all around here but not falling on my house. You can keep the dreary clouds tho, thank you very much I went to bed an hour earlier last night - feel like I went an hour later so let's sneak off about 2pm and go find a nice place to nap

Shad - cars have hardly any resale value any more no matter what you get. Better off selling it on your own. Funny - doesn't seem like your car is that old. But of course, you do put alot of mileage on it I imagine for those times when you drive out to a job. My 4Runner is 8 years old, I have less than 60,000 miles on it and it's just fine. I hope to keep it for a long time to come, particularly since Toyota seems to be having their share of problems lately. Wonder if that comes from moving production into the USA? I loved you closing statement about how you'd better get moving before things fall down. I want to print that out and put it on my cube wall.

Laura - freaky about the bed lamps. That would make my hair stand on end no pun intended. Glad you got the bee out of the car without any major incident. Isn't that something that just jolts your body into shock - if ever you wished for a really LONG red light - out out OUT You're coming into the pesky commuter bee season too - we don't have those much down here but I always hated them at the train station. I think pruning shears and snips have a mind of their own and go meet up with others down the block occasionally. Hope you find yours.

Annie - sounds like you had a very well deserved day of fun (for a change) with your daughter at Kings Island. Good for you! Now get to work

It's getting late - I have to get moving. Hi's to Ceejay and Michelle - will catch up with you later kids.

Hi ladies,

We got the garage door repaired yesterday evening by a neighbor's friend. There's a part that's still quite bent, but DH says he can fix it. So the door opens manually, not with the opener. The guy replaced the cables and fixed everything else that was wrong with it. I'm working from home today as the tree guy is coming out at 11:30 to give an estimate. My back was a bit sore/tender from the traction...so I took it very easy last night and mostly layed on an ice pack. Since my PT appointment tomorrow is first thing in the morning, I may ask her to skip traction. We'll see.

Shad - I think you're whinge makes most of us appreciate our working conditions. Never heard of the Holden Cruise car. DH and I watch Top Gear nearly every week, and they often have cars I've never heard of. I agree with you about the insurance companies. You pay them...but when it's time for them to pay you...there's always something in the fine print. Out of the options you listed...I hope you just get sillier. That would be fun!

Laura - Glad you got some retail therapy in over the weekend. That is weird about the bedroom lamps. Maybe you should get the Ghost Hunters gang to come to your place. Though there probably is a logical explanation, like your bf said. Glad you got the bee out of the car okay.

Annie - Shad is absolutely correct. We cannot be all things to all people and until they figure out how to clone people we can only be in one place at a time. You've cared for him a lot...your brothers can spend time with him so you can have a little fun every now and again. I'm glad you had a great time at King's Island!!

Mel - Don't overdo it on your conquering of Mt. Washmore. And please don't tempt fate by saying how quiet things are! Relax and enjoy the rainy day...sounds like a good day for movies! So you're pretty shocking, huh? I, too, have a lot of static electricity and when I get really stressed, DH doesn't like me to touch any electronics because I can fry them. Thanks for the hugs, my sista friend. We'll see what the tree service estimate turns out to be for taking care of the cracked limbs. Hopefully, it won't be too much.

Ceejay - Bummer that you're without internet at work. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I'd better get back to it. I may be home, but they still expect me to work.

Love and hugs to all,

Hey everyone.

Mel - It's cloudy today and I think we might get rain. Now if only I could be home napping. You ever get nervous sitting on that battery? As for my lamps - I wouldn't expect much static this time of year. Something was definitely completing the current to turn them on.

Shad - I just had to look up which autos are manufactured in Oz - wiki says Ford, Holden, Toyota and Mitsubishi. Agree w/ Happy - none of the cars really hold the value, especially if you try to keep them for a long period. Glad there are no window cracks yet.

Happy - Sorry the site's still slow for you. My internet in general was slow yesterday until I closed the browser and reopened it.

Michelle - Glad the garage door at least opens now. Traction - sounds uncomfortable. Does it mean you're immobile for a certain amount of time?

Ceejay - Too bad the internet's not up at work.

Annie - Hope you're not in any pain after your day at KI. I do recall my throat being sore and my voice practically gone after one thrill ride experience - a little too thrilling, LOL.

I walked doggy and did one BE workout last night. I brought my gym bag today for a fitness center workout. I woke up with a sore throat today - a cold may be on its way. Not very hopeful I won't get it - I feel sort of crummy and my throat now feels tickly and is hoarse. I took a zinc lozenge - ick - and I'm due for another soon. I'd almost rather skip the zinc and just get this over with. I guess I'll still exercise. We'll see how I feel tonight for the movie - Eat Pray Love. I liked the book, but the movie gets a strike right off for being over two hours long. Not a huge Julia Roberts fan, but I like Javier Bardem. He doesn't show up til the end of the movie though. We'll see.

Better skeedaddle.

Morning all,
Back at work again this morning. After I had posted yesterday and got on with some work, I started getting jazzy lines in front of the left eye. It was sort of like a giant geometric dazzling coloured series of triangles outline in black and mainly in the shape of a question mark. I've had these before although not often and the trick is to get home before you are no longer fit to drive or think. I only just made it. There is no headache, the brain just sort of goes blank - and I should possibly have not driven, but one has to do what one has to do and I did it. I swear this building is making me go all funny.

Mel - JOX stands for John Oxley Centre. J O was the man who discovered the Brisbane River and put into land to find fresh water. The river is tidal right up to the city apparently (although there was no city then when JO came up river) As per usual, with man's intervention, things have gone downhill ever since!
There is disabled loos in the building, there is a sign that says so. However that doesn't mean that they are easy to find. The building as per building codes from some years back complies with disabled access laws. Sort of. I doubt that there is anything in there about ghosts.

Happy - The world has gone mad as far as car manufacture goes and the giants have sent out to places like Thailand and Korea and India to actually manufacture the cars. The Holden Cruise could be made in Korea or Thailand - neither thought makes me too overjoyed about buying one. Ditto with Mazda. The car I now own was made in Belgium and the instructions are in German - for example - the passenger door says something like ACHTUNG: Aerbaggen ein kontenmain eine dach. The instruction book fortunately is in English-sort of.

Laura - enjoy the film. Keep on with the exercise, it may help to get rid of the cold germs.

Michelle - glad to hear that the neighbours came to the rescue. That at least will save you a heap of money. Have you sorted the dogs operation yet?

Ceejay - are you back on air yet??

Gotta go. It's time to think up some more doco stuff. Will this phase ever end??? Bah humbug. I really don't mind it, it's just that I don't feel well enough to think about how to word it and make it simple for folks.

Update - the poultergeist has now affected the loos. 2 out of the 4 won't flush.
Get me out of the building - fast. 4 weeks to go and counting.
