Thanks for the advice, Happy. I know you're not saying this lightly. That being said....since I have to take Aleve daily or occasionally stronger pain meds anyway, should I just keep up the Zumba'ing and exercising?

Hello Worldlies.

Mel - Not a good month for the office. Don't spend too much time there!! Sorry Richie's son won't be visiting.

Annie - Congrats Auntie Annie! (Those are pretzels, aren't they??) Happy birthday to Baby Maddie.

Michelle - Sorry your 2nd shot isn't working. Definitely time for a 2nd opinion/new strategy. The mosquitos are horrible this year. I get a couple bites every time I walk the dog - and we try to keep moving! This morning I was getting attacked just getting my bike out of the garage!

Hellos to Happy, Shad & Ceejay.

Big meeting this afternoon for work, and then a dinner afterward with the attendees. I hate this kind of stuff. But at least it's today. I went into the week thinking it was scheduled for Thursday, LOL. So at least I'll get it over with!! I'm missing the movie tonight. They chose "The Kids are All Right", about kids who want to meet their sperm donor/dad. Too bad, it looked like a good movie and I like Mark Ruffalo.

Okay, better get going. I'm taking an early lunch, and then I'll "study" before the meeting.

I've scheduled an appt with my neurosurgeon for next Wednesday to see what his opinion is for the next course of treatment, and right after that I have an appt with a neurosurgeon that my co-worker goes to for his back to get a second opinion. I'm really glad I was able to get in relatively quickly (for a specialist). Not sure how long I can handle this numbness/tingliness. It makes it very difficult to concentrate.

Michelle
Think I'd for go on the exercising. Glad you are see a nuerosurgeon. Hope he is on your insurance list.

Annie
Both your girls are adorable. I would love to hold the baby. Haven't had the chance to hold my sister's grand baby yet either and she's 4 months old already.

Mel
Oh my, don't work to hard this week. Good thing they have you for a fill in though.

Hello to Happy, Laura and Shad

I'm doing well. Still trying to obey the doctor and not stay in the heat to long or do any thing heavy. It feels like my nose is coming back alive so I suppose that's good.

Michelle- as long as Zumba is not intensifying the back pain then I'd keep dancing. Movement is good. I think however that your 10 mile walk in Chicago was probably on the over do it side of the fence - too stressful for you at the moment. And with all the stress of the job lately, you could probably use Zumba as a de-stressor. Glad you got in to see a neurosurgeon.

DH went to his pain doctor today. They did a complete work up on him including x-rays, MRI, nerve conduction test, etc. We'll see what they come up with. Many of the pain meds cause long term damage to other things. Seeing him I have utmost sympathy for anyone with back or chronic pain issues.

Ceejay - good to hear your nose is finally coming around. I guess it takes time. Are you back in the groove of work or still wishing you were home?

Laura - not many movies interest me any more but I too would have liked to see "The Kids Are Alright". Hope your meeting went ok and went quickly. We have tons of mosquitoes too. I think this muggy weather has produced a bumper crop. Are you having any issues with fleas?

Mel - did you get some rest? I think you are over due for some sunshine. I wanted to congratulate you - you have been a good girl staying away from the Starbucks - at least it seems you have I know it must be hard but they seem to take their toll on you. Hope it doesn't rain on your weekly shopping trip. Is Willy back?

Shad - how are things in the bush? Gorgeous meteor shower peaking Thursday night into Friday morning but you probably can't see the Perseus constellation down in your corner of the world. But you probably have your own southern sky shows. It's Elvis week this week. We miss you at Graceland. Lots of nice trinkets for the folks back home :s

Annie - are things getting better for you? Aside from the gorgeous new ladies in your life... Getting any rest? How's Dad?

I am having a tough time posting. I can't spend alot of time in the morning as I am leaving the house too late. Got to get up earlier but I'm staying up too late. I get home at night, a bit later tonight to finish up some work, catch up on the day with the hubster, get something to eat, watch a bit of TV to relax and then take a late night swim. The night just flies by.

So I figured I'd get a few words in now as I am already 45 minutes past bedtime.

See yah in the morning - night all...

Evening all

This will be short since I don't know how this modem is going. I've had it back to the shop every day since I bought it and it appears to blown up the battery on this computer. I have had to take the battery out to allow the computer to work. It's taken an awful lot of swear words to connect to the internet.

The system at Kincora is better than that at Yellowbank and about 200% better than Rolleston. However it can be frail at times like today when it decided to kick some of us off the network. Half managed to find the goods in the store and the other half including the trainer didn't. Difficult to teach if you have to talk through the moves instead of demonstrating on the big screen.

Michelle - sorry to hear you are still in pain.

Annie, beautiful children.

Here's a couple of Carnarvon pics.

And another couple. But it's getting dodgy out here.

By the way I'm learning mud driving. It's really FUN (not) when the car slides all over the road and all you can see is the tree to the left getting closer. Or it's really fun (not) when you start to drive Lake Kincora and hope that the road is still under there somewhere. You might gather it has been piddling down.

HOPE THE DH WILL BE OK AND I HEAR YA ON THE MEDS AND DAMAGING THE BODY....MOSTLY ORGANS. I TRY MY BEST NOT TO USE ANYTHING. BUT THEN I HAVE HAD PAIN ALL MY LIFE...MAKES IT EASIER TO DEAL WITH. NOT LIKE YOUR DH & MICHELLE....ONE DAY THEY WERE OK AND THEN PAIN. HArd to takle i am sure.

LAURA...HOPE FOR YOU THAT THE MEETING AND DINNER WENT GREAT!! SORRY YOU HAD TO MISS THE MOVIE.

SHAD...I'LL COME BACK AND LOOK AT THE PICTURES. THANKS FOR POSTING THEM. SORRY TO READ ABOUT THE MUCH AND INTERNET WOES. DON'T BE BLOWING ANYMORE BATTERIES UP!! AND I AM NOT HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SLIDING TRIPS AND THE MYSTERY OF WHETHER OR NOT A ROAD IS UNDERR THE BROWN SLUDGE!

Shad - Happy Hump Day ladies -

Last night, we discovered that our cable box/DVR got fried and died during Sunday night's power outage/surge. The cable company is coming out today between noon and 4 to repair/replace it. Luckily, my boss is letting me leave before noon and work from home in the afternoon. Yesterday after work, DMIL was REALLY funny. as soon as I got home, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt to mow the lawn. She told me that DH told her to NOT let me mow the lawn under any circumstances. He was worried that all the bouncing on the riding mower would make my back worse. He told her to forcibly hold me down if necessary, which is hysterical since DMIL is probably 4'10" tall and weighs 120 lbs (if that). I told her that I was feeling well enough to mow...and I didn't want DH to have to...plus I really ENJOY riding the mower (and doing donuts on the lawn). I told her that I would face DH's wrath when he got home. She immediately called DH and left a voice mail tattling on me. Anyway, my back actually felt better after I mowed...I think the movement and a little turning/twisting helped. And DH wasn't that mad. He appreciated not having to mow.

We're going to get storms on and off today...though I think the worst ones will hit to the north and south of us (watch out, Laura). This evening, I'm taking DMIL to the salon to get her hair cut. If tonight's Zumba wasn't one of the Super Intense Advanced classes, I'd probably go to Zumba while she's getting her hair done. Maybe I'll get to the gym and try a beginner Zumba Gold class tomorrow night. This weekend, DH wants to go fishing...and I'm looking forward to having a relaxing day on the water - catching a fish or two would be an added bonus.

Ceejay - I'm glad to hear that you're obeying the doc. Heat and heavy lifting are definitely things you should be avoided. Glad to hear your nose is feeling better. Isn't it a weird feeling when it's kind of numb for so long 'till the nerves get knitted back together?

Happy - Thanks so much for your kind words of wisdom. I think you're right....I think the walking in Chicago put me over the edge. Hope DH gets some answers from all those tests. You're right about the long term effects of meds. And goodness knows I take enough of them for BP and cholesterol, I'd like to be able to cut back or eliminate the pain meds. I'm gonna give a low level Zumba class a try, and also get back to some core exercises. The wet weather has produced a bumper crop of mosquitos...and dragonflies. DH said that the same wet, muggy conditions that promote mosquito breeding, also promote dragonfly breeding. Speaking of mossies, I had bought some natural mosquito repellent made from Catmint oil at the Fair last weekend. I thought it might be phony...but it said 10x better than Cutter brand repellant. And yesterday was the true test...I was out in the yard picking up the dog toys prior to mowing and getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. I went inside got the spray and went back outside to apply it to my legs, arms, face and neck (all the while the mosquitos were swarming around me). Once I had all my parts covered, I didn't get a SINGLE BITE! And mowing our yard really kicks up the mosquitos and makes 'em wanna bite back. But not a bite! And I didn't feel all chemically like when I have Cutter on. I'm sold!! This stuff is excellent! Hopefully we have a clear night on Thursday so that we can see the Perseids.

Shad - Thanks for the lovely photos of Carvaron! I can definitely relate to your description mud driving. It sounds very much like snow/ice driving. Not fun at all. You're either slip-sliding all over...or worried about getting STUCK! Had a great laugh about taking a lot of swear words to connect to the Internet. That IS the mantra of IT. And in my case, it has taken a never-ending stream of swear words to get the two beastly projects I've been working on even close to done.

Mel - Sorry to hear about all the alarms, and the cranky medical team! If they would have cooperated they could've gotten to the pateient faster. Glad to hear the cops stuck up for you and said you did the right thing.

Laura - How was the meeting and dinner afterwards? I hope it wasn't too dull or too late a night.

Annie - Hope you have a great day!! Did you brown bag any more yummy garden veggies?

I'd better get some work done.

Love and hugs,

Howdy All......

Spent yesterday in Casey, Illinois attending the funeral of my dear friend Tami's mother. Her momma and my momma took a turn for the worse about the same time. I felt so badly for her. We just hugged and hugged and hugged and cried and cried and cried. So sad.

So when you eat fresh corns on the cob...you poo corns. WOWSER!!

Baby boy should be home this weekend, he had better be as I have not seen him since he got home from bootcamp, the little turd.

Dad is doing well, we no longer have to stay the night, just check on him daily which we are taking turns at doing. It is much more easy to do that.

Shaddie....be sure to wear boots in case you get stuck in the mud and have to walk. My son would love to be with you for that, he goes 4 wheelin muddin on purpose.

Chelle...so sorry the shot is not working as well as it should. Definitely get a second opinion and get it taken care of. I don't think chiropractic tactics do anything for nerve stuff.

MELLIE...good for you for sticking to your guns and getting the proper ID. You never know these days who is for real or gonna kill ya.

Happy...Hope all is good in your corner of the world.

Laura...can't wait to get my hands on the new niece, she is so tiny.

Not much else going on.

Hello to all

Love and hugs,

Annie - So nice of you to be there to support your friend Tami. You are a good friend, but then we all knew that already! As for corn...with me it doesn't matter if it's canned, frozen or on the cob...same end (pardon the pun) result. Just the on the cob tastes so much better. I'm so very happy for you that you'll get to see your son this weekend! As for chiropractic...if it comes down to between that and surgery...I'd give it a try. But only as a last, or next to last resort. The reports I've read on it's effectiveness for my back problems aren't that promising.

Morning.

Shad - Thanks for the photos - looks lovely. But then I don't see mud in the photos, LOL. Sounds like a scary driving situation! Sorry about the system and internet connection problems - and the blown laptop battery! Swearing and technology go hand in hand, that's for sure!!

Michelle - Good you made the doc appointments and not too far off! I agree you should get some movement in - but very gentle! I haven't done any exercise since last week and I feel like I need some good stretching. I'm definitely doing something tonight. LOL re MIL's tattling. Catmint oil, huh? If it doesn't smell like bug spray and works better, I'm interested! I've complained about the heat, humidity, and cicada noise, but none of those compare to the hassle of the mosquitos!

Annie - Another funeral. Very sad. Glad your dad is doing well, and I hope the check-ins are enough. Bet you're looking forward to this weekend and seeing BB.

Mel - Aaargh, sorry you had to deal w/ the surly medical folks in the middle of the night. Get those reports done and then take it easy!!

Ceejay - Glad your nose is starting to work properly again! Sniff sniff.

Happy - No issues with fleas, thankfully. We do, however, need to apply doggy's monthly dose of Frontline. I think bf has been holding off because doggy's fur is still so nice and shiny from his bath last month...

Yesterday was mixed. We had a 2 pm meeting that left me in a crummy mood - it was a waste of time and I was majorly po'd. The 3 pm meeting was fine, and dinner was fine too. I had a Caprese salad (tomato/basil/mozz cheese) and shrimp risotto. Three of us left before desserts to catch our 7:30 trains. I caught a cab to the train station, sure I had a fiver in my wallet. Oops, just two singles. I had to charge a $4 cab ride! At least I had the tip in cash, lol. More important, I made the train on time!

Bf got in touch w/ his dds yesterday and found out they were NOT going to put him under for his wisdom teeth removal. Remove 4 teeth with just novocaine? And he hadn't told me this before, but novocaine doesn't agree with him to begin with, so to have them keep giving him shots of it would not have worked at all. He cancelled the appointment and found another doc to do it next week. I'm still taking this Friday off work though! I've been tired all week - this !@#$% TOM is part of the reason. But I think some movement tonight will do me some good. And our building is having an ice cream social this afternoon, so that should help too.

Okay, time to quit rambling and get this posted.

Hey Laura - Bummer about yesterday's 2 pm meeting, but glad the other meeting and dinner went well. Here's the link to where you can get the Catnip (not catmint - my mistake) bug repellant:
