Hey Everyone, I;m on Day 12 I think. 6 lbs first week, nothing this week. But I have been slipping. Went to SA Restaurant Assoc dinner. I did eat half pc of bread, had the sm dessert (crepe) and a couple glasses of wine. Oh well. And husband has sales meeting overnight trip to our downtown area Saturday night. will have dinner and drinks again, but will have to get serious again starting Sunday. Altho, we have a "game" dinner that day, too. Need groceries for next week, may just add little fruit for a week or two. Want to lose 10 more by Cancun sales meeting on Feb 17th. Only a mo. away.

All those activities are because of husbands job, mine stinks. Been here 23 years (i'm 49) half my life, stayed way too long. so much for loyalty. Bought out by China co. years ago and they are having BIG problems. We havent shipped orders that were placed in August. Dont know if co will fold or not, they are not telling us a thing. did an interview last week, but hours were noon-8, i am used to 8-5 so I told em I wasnt interested. they left a message yesterday that hours would be 10-6 or probably 930-6pm. I do not know what to do....woke up at 5 worried. Pay is 200 a week less if i take new job. i would rather ride this old one out, hard decisions, any ideas?

pudding is not allowed on phase 1 because of the starches in it. I went to the website and below are the ingredients for the sugarfree, fatfree chocolate pudding mix.

Ingredients: MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, COCOA PROCESSED WITH ALKALI, MALTODEXTRIN , TETRASODIUM PYROPHOSPHATE AND DISODIUM PHOSPHATE (FOR THICKENING), CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF NONFAT MILK, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SALT, SOY LECITHIN, CALCIUM SULFATE, XANTHAN GUM, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES (PREVENT FOAMING), ASPARTAME AND ACESULFAME POTASSIUM (SWEETENERS), RED 40, YELLOW 5, BLUE 2, ARTIFICIAL COLOR.
Size: 1.4 OZ
Upc: 4300020551

I also included the ingredients here for the sugar free chocolate pudding cups. I would not use them normally because of the fats in them. Note the Hyrdrogenated vegetable oil. They have one gram of saturated fat. I use the dry mix and make it with skim milk.

Ingredients: WATER, XYLITOL, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, COCOA PROCESSED WITH ALKALI, MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, CONTAINS LESS THAN 1.5% OF HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND PALM KERNEL OILS), SALT, SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE (FOR SMOOTH TEXTURE), SODIUM ALGINATE, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SUCRALOSE, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, ARTIFICIAL COLOR.
Size: 22.4 OZ

Morning (barely) P1 chickies! Lots of us should be finishing up and heading off into P2land. Today for me:
B - deviled egg, coffee and milk, turkey bacon
S - string cheese, V8
L - leftover chicken divan
S - celery and LCLC, latte or hot chocolate
D - more leftovers (lots of chicken and machca left), and stir fried peppers, onions, and cashews
S - NSA chocolate pudding

We are getting a beautiful snow here right now, I expect the kids'll be getting home early today.
jilly, I like veggies, but 4.5 cups is a lot so it's always a challenge to me. I definitely count the V8 consumption, I usually have it every day.
murph, I though the same thing, the cauliflower is definitely not a potato substitute. But it's tasty and if you're not expecting potatoes, but you like cauliflower on its own merits, it's pretty good. To save you the trauma, let me tell you now, the eggplant french toast is NOTHING like french toast. Save the pudding for Ph2. I think the problem with them for Ph1 is the thickeners.
westie, 12 lbs. is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
zoerba, I used to love Project Runway, but we don't have that channel anymore. I really had to and still have to work at the veggie servings. Just try to get in the habit of adding them to everything you can. You don't have to eat if you're not hungry. The danger is, is you don't eat your snack and end up TOO hungry later. Also, if you are not getting enough calories during the day it can stall your loss. So you'll have to experiment to find out what works best for you. But I admit I will skip a snack here or there.
rvargas, I'm sure you will have a stellar day today!
CarCar, I love leftovers for lunch. What are you having for dinner? Maybe make extra?
38withfreckles, your plan for the weekend sounds great.
GurlyGrix, my family has pizza night every Friday. I usually can resist, but when I really want a piece, I just scrape off the topping and eat it. At least I get the taste!
BellaB, I am not a big P1 loser. I think some of us just aren't. I've done it 3 times and never lost more than 5 lbs. And I DO have a lot to lose. Don't worry, we all just lose differently.
Congrats on your graduation, Christina!

Well, I kept getting interrupted and now I have taken too long to write this post, and I'll have to say good afternoon instead of good morning!

Hi everyone, glad to see so many of you have a good day. I started out really bummed this morning, I step on the scales, as I always do before my shower (I know a really bad habit) and was up another pound, I was up a pound yesterday too. I thought I had been eating quite well. The worse I have had is regular dressings, Maurice dressign made of mayo, eggs and sweet pickles and Good Seasons Italian, made with canolo oil, >1gm sugar and I used the very sparingly. I was okay with only losing 3 lbs the first week since I always drink lots of water I knew I wouldn't lose a lot of water weight. Here is what I ate yesterday, maybe someone has some suggestion.

B- 2 eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon, 6 oz. V8
S - 2% String Cheese
L - salad w/ ham & turkey (sm. left over), raw celery, califlower & cucumber
w/dip made of lf sour cream, dill & garlic
s - lf cottage cheese
s - while cooking dinner 15 almonds
d - salad, grilled chicken breast, green beans
s - sf jello

I'd appreciate any thoughts, SB in new to me, I'm on day 11. I'm not happy about gaining back 2 lbs.
Thanks,

Sharon, your menu looks good. I'm sure you know, the amount of veggies should be 4.5 cups. My weight varies drastically during the week and due to time of day. If you are on-plan, I wouldn't worry about it, I very much doubt you gained 2 lbs in 2 days, that would mean you ate 7,000 calories in excess of what you need to maintain. Is it close to TOM? I never lose the week before and sometimes gain a little. Also, some people tend to lose in clumps - no loss for a week or two, and then poof, 3 lbs. gone in one day. Be patient, you are doing great, and you will get "paid back" for your efforts, I promise.

Thanks for the encouragment Schmoodle, I'm past the age of that TOM although I do believe you body still cycles. I just remembered beside my regular Curves yesterday morning I did do some extra exercise last night, 15 min. with a weighted hula hoop several curls and lifts with 5 lb weights., and 50 crunches. I haven't been doing those extras in a while, that may accout for something.

Sharon, I agree with Schmoodle, menu looks good! Sounds like you are retaining water, wouldn't worry about it stay on track and weight should come off plus some.

Barb - thanks for the answer on pudding! I could not for the life of me figure it out, but it makes perfect sense now. And being a Chemistry Ph.D., I feel 100% pathetic that it wasn't computing with me.

Default New Phase 1-er

Hi everyone!

Just started SB Phase 1 on Monday so I'm hoping I can keep it going! I've had to pass on so many things today - including my favorite peppermint patties that my boss offered me!! So hard!

Does anyone have any meal suggestions for us girls on the go? I am trying very hard to make things ahead of time so I can have leftovers, but I know I will have trouble doing that all the time. Any ideas for quick meals that are OK for P1? I know I can always do turkey/ham rolls and cheese, but I'm looking more for soup, frozen meals, micro-type stuff that anyone has found for P1.

Thanks everyone!!

The refried bean soup is really quick to make, just mix some cans. Also the broccoli cheese soup, if you have leftover broccoli or microwave frozen. I'll try and think of some more.

The first few days are hardest, hang in there, it gets much easier!

whew, busy busy board today!

I had a minor mishap this afternoon. I had pistachios for my afternoon snack. I counted out 30 of them and then put the bag away. Then I ate my 30 pistachios. Then I took the bag back out and just started eating them right from the bag, not counting at all. In total, I estimated I'd had 3.5 servings instead of just 1 No pistachios for me tomorrow!

The rest of my day went well, though. For lunch, I took some Swiss cheese, placed a few slices of ham on it, smeared a little garlic hummus on that, and topped with some leaves of baby spinach and rolled it up together--delicious! I'll definitely be having that again!

When I went to make my breakfast this morning, I realized I'd sort of salsa-ed myself out yesterday, so I didn't put any in my eggs since the thought of it made my stomach unhappy. Instead, I had my V8 with my eggs and just sprinkled a little shredded cheese on top of the eggs. I didn't think I could get so sick of a food in just 1 day

I had a raging headache yesterday afternoon, but not today. I can't say it was because of the diet, though, since I kinda get headaches pretty frequently (at least 1-2 times a week, I'd say).

One thing I really like about this plan is that although it's not a calorie counting plan, I have been tracking my foods in an online log, and I've stayed under 2000 calories both yesterday and today (and that's even counting 3.5 servings of pistachios!) without even trying. I was just curious to see how many calories I would be consuming, and it seems to fall in line with what I was trying to do before SBD anyway, which was just stay below 2000 calories a day and eat more whole foods.

Jill, I got more headaches my first five days than usual for me...and headaches are a norm. Hang in there.

Let's see how I did today:

Breakfast: two quiches

Snack: two cheese sticks

Lunch: Lean skinless chicken breast and half a pound of romaine salad (with added mushrooms, red bell peppers & Paul Newman's own lite balsamic)

Snack: One cheese stick and one very large celery stalk

Came home from work and was annoyed...emotionally....angry....frustrated. Contemplating a showdown. Wanting to flee a relationship that is starting to mimic my last (failed) relationship. Tried to ignore the emotions. Wondered if it was pms but it is about a week too early to even be close. Hmmmm.

Dinner: two thin low fat turkey slices; one dill pickle spear while I cooked my large Pork LOIN chop.

And then the emotions kicked in again....threw in another pork chop.

Easier to give up carbs than it is to give up emotional eating. I am ordering a few books I read about in another thread from Amazon (thought I saw an Amazon link here somewhere?).

YAY!! 3 days over with.

Today I had

breakfast: Mock Pancakes. They weren't too bad, I think used too much batter at once.
Snack: V-8, broccoli slaw
Lunch: Turkey salad, yogurt/cumber salad
Snack: Skim latte
Dinner: Chicken breast, salad & artichokes
Snack: Turkey, ham, romaine roll-ups

Now I'm attempting to plan a healthy menu for tomorrow. I'm almost out of vegetables, definitely need ot go shopping.

Leia - emotional eating is something I have struggled with too, and it's really tough for me sometimes. Last year was really rough for me and that's when I gained a LOT. That's why I'm here back on the beach!

Good luck to you!
