Hi everyone. I tried that Taco Bake today. Oh. My. GOODness!!! YUMMM!! I wanted to eat the rest all night. I had such a hard time with having ate a fourth of it and wanting more, more more. It is amazing (and we forgot the ortegas but who cares). Unfortunately, I had no more light cheese and used regular grated cheddar. I think I might have ate a lot more than I did if it had light cheese.

Now a new favorite here.

We tried it for the first time lastnight, too!! It's a definite favorite. We finshed the rest for lunch. Soooo good. We already went to the store to get more ground turkey for the next batch LOL

Whew, I survived casino night last night! I unintentionally ate almost nothing all day. I had a V8 in the morning, and then I went shopping for an outfit for the party, I was out a lot longer than I thought I would be and didn't trust myself to stop anywhere for a snack. I did buy a bottled water, though. When I came home, I had a string cheese and some pistachios before getting ready for the party. At the party, I avoided all the hor douvres (or however you spell it) and all of the desserts and only had a small piece of skinless, unbreaded chicken (it was chicken marsala, but I don't like mushrooms, so I just had the chicken plain), some veggies, and a very small amount of beef tenderloin (no visible fat). I was so proud I could resist the garlic mashed potatoes, the rolls and garlic bread, and the multiple types of pasta. I even avoided the salmon since it was on a bed of couscous, and the outside of it had couscous all over that I wouldn't have been able to get off completely. An overall on-plan Day 4. Man, it feels like it's been much longer than 4 days

On to Day 5...

Day 6 here and it's getting harder, not easier!! Anyone else have this problem? We have company here for the weekend and my roommate made cookies, french toast casserole, pizza and various other things to torture me! I have to say, the cravings are not going away. Anyone else running into this problem? It would make me so happy to just eat one of those oatmeal choc. chip cookies. It's annoying me that when I go to eat it makes me sad. I will do this another week, but it's not as easy as it seems!

Jill - AWESOME work. You go girl! That is sheer dedication to be able to resist all of those foods!

SoulCyster - Go to the recipe section and under Ph1 desserts there's a great recipe for peanut butter cookies. I made it last night with a little bit of unsweetened cocoa mixed in and...yum! That took care of my cookie fix! =)

BTW SoulCyster, just a hunch, but do you post at Soul Cyster . com? I have PCOS too and am frequently over there.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon Ladies!
Hope everyone is having a nice day. Its pretty warm here! I'm happy to see the sun!
Good Job Jilly- Holiday parties are the worst! They usually have the best food!

Yesterday I went to a birthday party at a bowling alley....and ended up serving the pizza ( yes, my fav. place again) to all the kids. I really don't know how I get roped in to these things! I was even the one cutting cake. Ugghhh. But I stayed completely on plan!

Soulcyster -I kind of know what you mean. I am not sure if I'm actually having cravings or I just want it when I see it. I don't think that will ever go away for me. The peanut butter cookies are really good. My mom tends to make her cookies really short...and these taste pretty similar. I will have to try the cocoa in them next time. Sounds really good!

Well, I should really be on phase 2 now...but I don't have any phase 2 things I want to add in. I have the bars and pizza....but I think I will start with fruit. Maybe tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having fun today!

SoulCyster I don't think the cravings ever quite go away. Especially if somebody has tempting food around your house. Definitely spend some time in the recipe section, there's some good stuff there that'll help with the munchies. I've been trying out a few of the recipes.

Day 6

Breakfast - Lemon Icebox Pie Recipe (really just yogurt and SF jello lol)
Lunch - Tuna, Mayo, salad
Snack - Raw veggies with ranch dip (recipe section recipe)
Dinner - Taco Bake (hopefully it turns out good)
Snack - Phase 1 Waffle recipe. Waffles can be desert.

beliter: That is exactly what I do when I don't eat enough in the day or when I'm not prepared!

I actually have to plan my meals every day and make my lunch the night before in order for me to stay on plan.

Tomorrow will be a better day!! =)

Can't give any better advice than this! I have to plan ahead as well, and I keep some snacks with me at work (string cheese, turkey pepperoni, pistachios, etc.). I also try to have my dinner already decided and pulled together before I leave for work in the morning so it's easy to prepare when I get home--I make sure meats are defrosted or marinating in the fridge, I put al lingredients together on the counter or in the fridge, etc. The less thinking I have to do, the better chances I'll actually eat what I planned to eat!

Also, is there any chance you can rid your kitchen of junk food like pie and chips so it's not there to tempt you? Having it there at all would be setting me up for disaster, personally. I know you may not live alone and others may eat those foods, but honestly, no one needs chips or pie as part of a healthy diet, even if they don't need to lose weight. I live with my fiance, king of Hot Pockets and other junk, but if he ever wants any junk food, he knows he has to bring it to his office and leave it there because I can't have it in the house.

I have 2 teenage boys, there's always some sort of 'junk food'.
Noone seems to understand that I did have everything planned, even supper, but I got home at 1 & suppers not till 6.
I can't keep many snacks with me in the cash office, they don't like for you to carry too much in there(once you're in there, you don't come out till you're done)
like I said...I did plan my lunch,I just did not get to take one!and when I got home I grabbed the easiest & quickest things to eat.

Beliter, I always find it helps to have healthy things in the fridge ready to go. This afternoon since I had a little extra time, I cut up some vegis to keep in ziplocs so I don't have to cut them every time I'm hungry. Maybe if you keep some packs of almonds and low fat cheese around it'll help keep you on track? I found 100 calorie packs of almonds at BJ's. I put a few in the glove compartment of my car for when I can't find anything suitable to eat.

Can't get rid of the junk in my house either. Husband is tall and skinny and would have a fit if I just stopped buying. Some of us just have to diet even with huge amounts of junk around. The trick is to buy things you don't like too much. I bought my DH an apple pie at the store because I don't really enjoy apple pie and don't find it tempting.

OMG, that taco bake was good. The only problem is nobody else in my house wants to eat it. Does anyone know if I can freeze portions so I don't have to eat it for lunch all week?

Neko, taco bake freezes beautifully. I plan to make it this week and will freeze 2 of the portions for future dinners or lunches for me. My kids don't care for it either because of the beans, so I make them regular tacos, and I get my taco bake. Everybody's happy!
I try not to keep much junk around either, but I do buy a few things, chips for the kid's lunches. I just buy things that don't tempt me. They are fine with Doritos and I can take or leave them, so that's what I get. Now, if I bought potato chips, I'd polish off the bag the first time I hit a rough spot.

beliter, sounds like you are in a tough spot. poor thing -they can really keep you locked up without a potty break? I hope you can come up with a plan to smuggle in some munchies or something to get you through. If it has to be small and power packed, nuts and cheese are good. How about a hardboiled egg or two? Once you are through Ph1, maybe the oatmeal breakfast bars or South Beach Bars would be a good idea for you. I definitely get into trouble too if I let myself get too hungry. Good luck!

I was not so good this weekend. I think it's the fact that I haven't been grocery shopping, so pickings are slim around here, along with stress over DH's departure tomorrow. I will be back at it tomorrow.

It's funny, I spent some time this weekend with a friend who is overweight, and we were chatting about diet, etc. I try not to talk about my weight loss efforts unless someone really seems interested, what could be more boring, right? But she opened the door, so I threw some ideas out there of small changes she could make that would make a big impact, and she was telling me how she's too stressed out and busy and life is too crazy right now to take on a big weight loss effort, and all I was hearing was excuse, blah, blah, blah, another excuse, etc. But I realized that was so me a year ago, and I don't know what happened or changed, but I'm so glad it did. It's really something you have to be ready for, and commit to, and be willing to change, and if you're not, nothing anybody else says makes any difference. So congratulations to all the chicks here making the effort. It's an accomplishment, and I'm proud of all of us!

I'm officially on to Phase II tomorrow. Lost a total of 8# in the last two weeks. I am so excited. I never dreamed South Beach would work so well for me. I am nervous though that adding carbs in won't work for me. Can't stay on Phase I forever though. Wish me luck!
