Hey ya'll!! I love this thread!!! Today is day 9 for me on ph 1. I weighed in yesterday to officially end week 1 and I was down 10 pounds! I couldn't believe the scale. I kept getting on and off, then went to one of those doctors scales, but they both said the same thing. I walked back in the therapy gym and literally, literally jumped up and down I was so excited!!!

I'm even more excited to see that I can have V8 for breakfast...didn't realize or even think that it may be an acceptable food choice! YAY....going to the store to get some on the way home from work!!

Happy Tuesday everybody!!!

Congratulations Mandy! Way to go. I'm gonna continue to post here though I'm officially on Phase II now. If anyone tries the steelcut oats in Phase II, they really are different from regular oatmeal. I don't know if I like them. Very messy to cook on top of the stove. I like microwaving things. I usually eat Oat Bran hot cereal from Quaker & I think its OK for South Beach, much easier to cook. I'm only going to add 1 thing the first week, instead of both a bread & fruit the first week.

I thought they were good though...but make them as pancakes now! There are very few syrups I like...I did find one SF one that is better than most. It is a little thicker than some of the other ones. Its Maple Grove Farms. I also used one from Cost Plus about two years ago when I was doing Atkins. It is sweetened with Maltitol...not sure if that is SB legal...but it was REALLY good!
oh good. I thought I was just having a blonde moment. It really didn't look like that much in the waffle maker. Just wasn't the best way to start a Monday morning. lol Maple Grove Farms is the brand I have. I think I just need to get used to it.

Congrats, Mandy. It's great to see the scale go down that much at once.

Am I the only one waiting for all of P1 to be over before I weight myself?

Default I survived my scrapbook weekend!!

I can't believe I didn't eat one single M&M - woo-hoo! We scrapbooked for 2 nights, and I was so good. I just finished up Phase 1, and I lost 8 pounds. I'm so glad I didn't fall of the wagon.

I ate lots of SB-happy foods, and they only thing I did that might have been questionable was the amount of ww crackers/chips I had with my salsa. I made a 7-layer dip, taco salads with black beans and turkey meat, sf jello, crystal light lemonade, water, and of course, my diet dp. I did eat quite a few crackers, but I still managed a pound to fall off.

Now, I am on Phase 2. I have really enjoyed pita sandwiches. Being on Phase 1 makes you really appreciate stuff. I would have never enjoyed a pita and turkey sandwich.

Well, good luck for tomorrow everyone!

zoerba - that's some dedication. I'm not sure I would have managed to to finish the bite if I had taken one!

Day 13 for me. 2nd weight in tomorrow. I'm hoping despite the red wine at the weekend, there might be a bit of a loss for me. Fingers crossed. I certainly feel good just now.

Today's menu for me is:

B: Spinach and cheese quiche cups
L: Cottage cheese salad
S: Lemon and coriander houmous with celery sticks
D: Soya mince cooked with tomatoey vegetable sauce
S: Sugar free raspberry jello

Hey, chicks! Sorry for being absent yesterday--I worked about 15 hours (with no end in sight today). I also ran out of the house without my lunch bag yesterday and ended up eating about a million servings of pistachios. I know I'm only allowed 1 serving a day, but it was the only thing I had grabbed, and I didn't get a chance to leave the office at all yesterday to stop a store for anything else. My friend did get me a chicken caesar salad and chili from Wendy's, though, which was helpful.

No pistachios left in my office now, and I won't be buying more anytime soon. I can't be trusted with them.

Thanks to all those pistachios, my weight is back up today. I'm still down from when I started, though, so it's not a total disaster, and I'm thinking some of it is just water retention (the pistachios were salted), so I'll chug chug chug the water today and try to make some better choices.

Today is day 8 for me, so it's the start of week 2. Due to my pistachio indiscretions, I may stay on Phase 1 for an extra week or so. Hopefully, that will also help to kill the cravings I've been having for a McD's cheeseburger (actually, more like 2 or 3 McD's cheeseburgers!). I couldn't care less about the fries, but MAN I want those nasty little cheeseburgers!

Day 6 today, and 100% on plan so far! Yay me!

But I really need to eat something different tonight, I'm in a bit of a rut and tired of it. I was planning to make chili but I've had my fill of beans-and-something-in-a-tomato-sauce. I'll see if I can get hold of some fresh fish.

Hi Everyone:
I just finished Ph1 this week but I thought I woud post on this thread since I am new to the forum. I have really noticed a difference in my appetite and I do not have the cravings that I usually struggled with on a daily basis. I cannot believe I have lost 20 pounds! I tend to sabatoge myself so I recognize the need for support. This looks like a very supportive site.

MitzieWow, 20 pounds is a great loss. Did you do that all in P1? And if you did, can you tell the rest of us what you ate.

Jillywhat do you do for a living that you worked 15 hours in one day?

Day 9 Menu
Breakfast - Eggbeat omelette with FF cheese and asparagus
Snack - Cottage cheese & cucumber
Lunch - Salad with grilled chicken, edamame and ranch
Snack - Jello
Dinner - Steak (mmmm) with roasted vegetables and an artichoke
Snack - SF Fudgesicle

Lin what have you been eating that feels like beans and tomato sauce all the time? lol I usually just feel like I can't stand to look at more chicken a couple of weeks into a diet.

Default Pistachio Indiscretion

Pistachio Indiscretion!!! thats hilarious!!! Sounds like my Almond Affair!!!!

Middle of Week 3- Scale is stuck, must be broke. Too cold to walk last night, meeting husband at mall tonight for long walk. Our treat has been a late SF FF pudding with a sm amt of topping, few raspberries. Maybe we should cut that out for awhile. and beans, which is only a few times a week, maybe thats slowing me down. My portions are good. We split a pc of flounder last night with roasted veggies. Oh well, will keep trying.

Talking

Hello! I've been reading this thread the last few days for motivation. I've tried everything under the sun before now and think SB might be the thing I'm looking for.
I'm going shopping tonight for heathy food and starting PH1 tomorrow. I'm really nervous but I need to do this.
I sure am going to miss my wine.

Any tips?

I'm having a brain fart! Day 9 on Ph 1 here and I'm confused about the sugar-free aspect here. Is it me, or are things labeled sugar free very deceiving? I looked at sugar free candy and hot chocolate at the store last night and put it back on the shelf when I saw 26 g of sugar alcohols and still 8 or 10 g of sugar in the hot chocolate. Am I missing something?? Should I not really be looking for sugar-free items?

Shesaninja - welcome to SB! My suggestion is variety, variety, variety, and oh yes, planning! Mix up your meals the best you can with different veggies, steak, chicken, etc, or else your taste buds will get burnt out. Planning ahead is key, because you tend to cheat when you're stuck without a snack or meal. Definitely check out the recipe section on this site too - it was a lifesaver for me!
