I've been reading some of the old posts to find out who Nicole's dad is. Then I thought I would just ask. Hope he continues to improve. God is good. Eating is a little better after falling off the wagon with the ice cream social my Dh put on. Oh well. Life goes on.

I'm trying to kill my flesh. I hope you guys know what that means. It's fighting back like a cat under a water hose. I'm fighting it but it makes me tired. Clearly, overeating is tied into my self control issues.

Hello Everyone!

What a day! We went to mom and dad's who live on a beautiful lake and there were lots of boats, swimming, BBQ and the whole 9 yards for the holiday weekend. HOWEVER.......
my best friend, Deb, came out along with my brother, 2 nieces, my nephew and nephew-in-law. My children do not do change well. They all have issues and they were bouncing off the walls! I can handle that because I'm used to it, but my poor parents are 88 and 89 (nearly 90) and really really are exhausted tonight. Mom NEVER usually complains about the kids, but omigosh - she called tonight madder than a hatter!
She does know their issues (3 with brain damage/mental issues) and one ok, but omigosh. I'm just astounded - I never heard her so upset about the kids - I feel SO bad!
Please pray my mom and dad don't suffer a heart attack or anything - sigh - I'm sad.

HI GALS ~

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day and an end to summer.

The kids will be here soon, a little family BBQ, around 15 people, small for us. Really hot here today so we will BBQ outside but stay inside playing board games and just visiting I imagine. Too hot right now for our usual shuffleboard, bocce ball, basketball games.

My dauhghter got to swim with the leopard sharks yesterday off the coast, she was so excited when she called me about it!

My weight continues to go down a little at a time, still eating pretty darn good and exercising a ton. Angie and I have done the 3 1/2 mile round trip to Starbucks with the dogs the last two days. And I have also added miles both days on my treadmill. Down to 187 this morning

Nicole's dad is still improving in small amounts, still on schedule to come home this week if there are no setbacks. Thanks again for the prayers. He has a long way to go. She will update me in about an hour when my son and her get here from their beach party.

Angie and I went to church Saturday night that way we could get home right before the USC game and then do our walk Sunday morning before it got too hot. She was out this morning running before 6am, doing 3 miles before we went. The 3 1/2 miles with me, Reba and Rylee was her "cool down".

Well I will check in a bit later...enjoy your last gasp of summer Gals!

Hey Gary,
Thanks so much for the prayers - I love all these kids so much and I know God brought them to us for a reason. After all, India and California aren't exactly around the corner from us! But I sure don't want mom to be so upset, you know? My niece who is 22 years old was crying and it seemed like it was one thing after another! Deb and Bob (dh) were the only ones partaking in the brewski - wish I enjoyed it - I would have downed a few - sigh - Hope your day was good!
Swimming with any of God's creatures would be heaven to me-when I get to a normal size, I'm going to snorkel and swim with dolphins - we've always been crazy about marine life and being land locked as we are, it's such a treat to go to the ocean or gulf.
Give Reba and Rylee hugs from Frosty, Lady and Taz!

HI EVERYONE ~ Sounds like some of you had an eventful and somewhat fun holiday weekend. Ours was much more subdued; we just went up to our site to do some more prep and this afternoon, we planted six more of twelve trees.

The whole south side now has a long row of hybrid poplars for shade; we planted one blue spruce right dab in the front yard (later, we will add more there). The north side is lined with a variety of pines and furs; I think it's gonna be pretty nice. Tomorrow morning, we will be meeting my DAD up there, and planting a few more trees, if DH feels up to it; and the last load of soil for this year will be brought in tomorrow as well.

The weather has been pretty nice for us thankfully; but, unfortunatley, I just had to catch another nasty flu bug; could hardly sleep last night for coughing, so we finally got up at dawn. I think we will sleep better tonight (probably from exhaustion ~ LOL).

LORI ~ sorry some things didn't go well at your celebration; I'm sure in time, your parents will get over it. These are your kids and there grand-kiddies, so they can learn to love them; just gently explain that they have special needs; and require a little extra love and patience! Do you have any young nieces who can help you out at future family events?

GARY ~ glad Jeff (Nicole's DAD) is doing better (^ PRAYING ^ for a speedy recovery with improvement each day). You are losing that weight pretty fast; you seem to be particularly motivated lately; what's your secret???

CAROL ~ one step in front of the other; the key is to keep on going! One dessert day will not ruin the whole month or year, right?

STEPHR ~ to our Christian Encourager's thread; I know you mean that you are trying to subdue your flesh, or to discipline it, so-to-speak. I am getting much better at it these days; eating balanced, healthy, whole foods and snacks every day. Practice makes Perfect, they say ...

We will be busy this week; the weather is co-operating perfectly. Take good care everyone; HI TO EVERYBODY ELSE; your fellow encourager ROSEBUD ^ PRAYERS ^ going up ^ for all! ^

I had an uneventful weekend. I got a few things accomplished but with being a bit under the weather I had naps every afternoon. I feel a lot better today, of course. I have to go to work!!

We're doing some work in our basement. We built an extra room for my niece to stay in and are now just finishing the outside of the room. I have to paint it soon and cannot decide what colours to use.

I ate terribly over the weekend. It wasn't so much the quantity but the quality. Now it's back to salads again. I probably won't be recording a loss this week.

Gary: You are doing amazing! It's so nice that you and Angie can do this together. My DH has been out riding his bike when he can. We need to enjoy this weather as long as we can.

Praise God for Nicole's dad!!

Lori: I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Sometimes it's hard for people (even family) to understand that special needs kids don't handle change or surprises very well. I'm sorry that your parents took it so badly. My dad couldn't stand having kids around him that were noisy or busy. It was so hard to take our active kids to see him. I know on a very small level what you sent through.

I see I have run out of time again. Hopefully I'll have time to come here again tonight.

Have a great day!

Lori, Having 10 kids I can feel your pain. Most of mine are grown now so they have passed that stage. The youngest is 17....the only one still at home. My mom was an only child and my dad had one sis so they couldn't quite understand it all. Both are gone now and I sure do miss them. Wilma, I'm glad to here someone else takes naps. Seems like I'm always tired.

Hi! My name is Dala and this is my first post on this thread. I was so excited to find a thread like this! I've been off and on of 3FC for a while now, but never really posted much. Praise the Lord that He cares for the things we care about - even our weight and losing it! He is in everything we do!

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the nice notes about our crazy day on Sunday. I think what bothered me the most was that my mom and dad are so old and I am really particular to keep them calm with no problems you know? I was adopted and they are the most awesome parents God could have given me and I never want anything or anyone to hurt them. Usually my kids don't get to them because they understand their issues. But then there were so many extra people there, that it just overwhelmed them. God love them, they wouldn't hurt me for the world, I definitely know that.

Things are much better now - mom is trying to get us to get a med for our youngest which we are trying to do, but the p-docs do all that on their own time - not ours - so we wait.

Hey Carol: OMIGOSH! TEN?? My aunt and uncle had 10 (5 girls and 5 boys) and we all grew up together. That's what my mom keeps saying, "When you all were little there were 17 grandkids and there wasn't near as much commotion! All 17 of you listened!" I'm not sure we were THAT angelic!

Hi Dala!! There are some great Christian people on this list and you will LOVE them like I do!!

Well Hi to everyone else!
Have a GREAT evening!
Lori
