  • Hello Everyone, I got on the scales this morning and I didn't lose anything this week. But hopefully next week will be better. Just need to get more serious about the exercise. But tomorrow is a new day and I really want to work on getting some sort of a routine going. I did it before so I know I can----- darn vacations!!

Lori, I think that you will like the free version of fitday and you can still add your own foods to it so that is nice.

missy3gal and carolr3639 and Karen I'm new here but I think you will like it. Nice bunch of people here.

Gary---- 8 pounds!!! Congrats You are doing great! I'm sorry there isn't better news on your daughter-in-laws Dad. I will keep you all in my prayers. It is funny that you mentioned detailing cars---- About 30 year ago I was doing that!! Can you believe I was doing it for $7.00 a car!! And that was with q-tips and toothbrushes!! But I got to where I was doing them pretty fast and I was getting about $42 a day not counting the tips. But I still can't believe I did all that work for $7.00 a car!! Makes me tired now to just think of it. And you talk about your Reba and Rylee being spoiled--- check out the pictures---- I may have you beat in the "spoiling" department!

Well, it is getting late and I hope everyone has a good night. I'll try to get back and chat more tomorrow.
  • HI GALS ~

Taking a few minutes to post, while I watch the Little League championship game for the U.S. I love watching the kids every year, with ESPN showing quite a few games from the regionlas on up through the World Series, it sure makes it exciting.

Angie and I went out to dinner with my son and daughter in law last night. We went to California Pizza Kitchen, it is becoming one of my favorite restaurants. We were celebrating the kids earning tenure.

I have really been working hard on the treadmill, I did 4.25 miles this morning and will probably do a couple of more tonight. I weighed in this morning at 192.6, so that is half a pound down. I will probably pick that half back up today because I have the day off, oh well, we shall see. I am eating properly though today so I hope not.

I plan to go to church tonight or in the morning then go to watch my daughter and son in law in their tennis match.

Lara took off for college in New York this morning. Ron is taking it easy...what else is new

Angie is off getting her hair colored She took the dogs on a three mile run/walk this morning then went to her class.

KAREN ~Love the pictures! Your's are as spoiled as mine are I'm sure Amazing how wages have gone up in a short time, they had to follow everything else though. Ballplayers making well over 10 million a year...CRAZY

    MISSY3GAL ~Welcome Now that's a lot of kiddos

LORI ~ WILMA ~ SUE ~ ELIZBENNET ~ GWYN ~ BUTTERFLY KAREN ~ EVERYONE ELSE ............HI!
  • MISSY AND CAROL ~ not sure if we met before, CAROLE; now you know what happens when people post; wander; and return. You just get a nice, big BACK ... CAROL!!!

We've been busy putting up new venetian blinds. Today was nice and cool, so we went up to the lot to do some more preparation of the foundation and watered our trees. We hope to plant some more in early September, if it's not too late?

GARY ~ we planted Hybrid Poplars, Blue Spruce, Norwegian Spruce, and white pine. We were very blessed to get those beans, from what I hear! We played a marble game called EXTREME CHASE; I won one game, but in the team battle of the sexes, the men beat the ladies; rats and more rats! Well, I just need some more practice, and that will soon change.
CONGRATS on losing those mega pounds!!!!

I am keepin' on plan and have been doin' my walks more regularly now that the weather is cooler; up at the site, there is a small loop about the size of an athletic track that I do each time we go up; there is also a larger one the size of a town block that I will work my way up to eventually ...

WILMA ~ Lucky to have a four foot freezer to put those veggies in; beans just happen to be my favorite, so glad I got some this year.

SUE ~ have fun camping again!

CAROL ~ that was 100%ME (correction); she was talking about the WEIGH DOWN PLAN; it actually sounds like eating healthy whole foods (like the ones mentioned in the Bible) in MODERATION (let your moderation be known to all men), not denying one-self, but being disciplined about it all (watching portions). I don't have the book but from what I have read that sounds a lot like it; I think the plan principles seem pretty sound (and similar to what I'm already doing now).

WELL, that's about all the news for now and it's getting late; gotta catch some shut-eye. GOD BLESS; ^ PRAYERS ^ going up for all; your fellow encourager ROSEBUD
  • Hi Everyone!

Our GREAT niece came to visit today! She is almost 3 months old! Our 11 year old twin girls are holding her and our son, AJ, is looking on! Is she a doll baby or what? Her name is Brianna. Have a wonderful week!

  • HI EVERYONE ~ just wanted to pop in and say HI to some of those I may have missed along the way. MISSY, LORI, MOTHEROF5, and KAREN31 (is there more than one of you now? Oh dear, KAREN31 and GENTLE BUTTERFLY-KAREN; I hope I don't get too confused), ~ hey, and there's lots of kiddies in this group now too!

MISSY ~ my DH is Catholic and we go to his church a lot (mostly), but we alternate with one of my choice when we like, for a change too (yes, it is protestant, but he finds it interesting too). This arrangement works for us and we are enjoying it a lot. My, you have a lot of children ... they must keep you pretty busy!

KAREN31 ~ just jump back in there; I think it is key to forgive yourself for the holidays (been there, done that); and then, just keep on, keepin' on!

MOTHEROF5 ~ thanx for the pics; your kiddies seem enchanted with your new great-niece.

Went to church, then out to the site late aft/evening; it was nice watching the sun go down; simply beautiful sunset, so took a couple of pics of the site, and the sunset on the way home. Got home late, but it was fun! I picked the last of the beans today; got about six more cups. Will be going out to the site for more foundation prep over the next while, so we'll be busy until the snow flies; but it is all so exciting and fun (so far anyways; hope it stays that way).

Take good care everyone and have a great week; Blessings ~ your fellow encourager ROSEBUD ^ PRAYERS ^ GOIN' UP FOR ALL!!!
  • Just a quick hi! We're still in flood land around here. Thank the Lord we live on a hill but the basement is really wet!!!!!! I twisted my ankle last night and fell on my wrist. OUCH! But it is a little better today. Canning about 16 qt. of tomatoes today. It's hot and humid and supposed to rain AGAIN!

  • HI GALS ~

Well I am down to 190 pounds! I lost a couple more yesterday thanks to some minor gum surgery and bone grafting on one area in my mouth. Had to skip lunch and have a light dinner! I am feeling great, no pain or discomfort. If you don't count the pain in my ...from the bill Thank goodness i do have insurance...but still...oh well...glad I could pay for it and keep a healthy mouth...thank you Lord!

Things have not changed for Nicole's dad. It can't be good to be so long without improvement, I wouldn't think anyway. We just keep praying.

We had carnitas and an awesome fruit salad for dinner. Watermelon, cantaloupe and mango...the best ever this summer for us!

I think that Reba and Rylee are mad with Angie back in school...they rewarded us for taking them on a walk yesterday by chewing our DVD player remote control into little bitty pieces, while we were at Target! AAARRGGGHHHH!

AUNT SUE ~Anything they want to use the little donation for is fine. Take it easy at work....you have been camping so long it seems I forgot you had a job

LORI ~Cute niece! How is the weight loss - treadmill work going?

CAROL ~Get those tomatoes to high ground!

ROSEBUD ~That's a lot of trees! We love playing games around here. The guys always lose though with the "sexist" games...my wife and daughter's and sister in laws know so much about sports!

WILMA ~I am hoping to have a 189 tomorrow for the weigh in...that might be a lot to ask for! Good luck on yours!

Well prayers to all.....see you soon!
  • I stayed the same AGAIN! This is the way it went for me last time. I think I'm going to have to change up the exercising and do more of it. We'll see what happens next week. At least the weight hasn't gone up!

Gary: Great job on the loss! How much more do you want to lose? Still praying for Nicole and her family. It must be so hard!

Sue: Good to see you post even though you're so busy. Have a great long weekend too!

Carol: That can't be fun. Hopefully you're not too sore.

Rosebud: You'll have to send us pictures of your cabin. It sounds lovely. One thing I really miss is the sunsets. When we lived in the country you always saw lovely sunsets. In the city you just don't.

Lori: I missed those pics. Were they removed or am I just blind?

Hello to everyone else! Great to see so many here.

    Have a super day!
  • It has cooled off today. Nice. Gary, Did you lose that other pound? I lost about 30lb 2yr. ago but then the dr. put me on prednisone again and I'm still on it. So back to losing. It's been a little better lately. Thanks all for the prayers. My ankle, hip and wrists are a little better today.
  • Good Morning Everyone!

Thanks for all the comments on our great niece! Our kids are just gaa gaa over her!

Wilma: I think her photo was on the last post of the previous thread. Sorry you stayed the same but it seems like there's something going around like that! I'll write more about my strange scale experience!

Gary: OMIGOSH I would have a cow if I had that work done on my mouth! I am such a baby when it comes to dental work. I had my gut cut open at least 5 times due to female stuff, but I nearly was bedridden for weeks after a root canal! Glad you are doing so well! Well, the treadmill is coming along great and my eating is great too. According to my weight I can eat 2300 calories for a 2 pound/week loss. I can't eat that much in wholesome foods. So I've been staying around 1500 - 1800 calories a day. I feel great, the big old stomach is receding, clothes feel better, but alas! The scale won't budge! I'm not kidding! I've never seen anything like it! I'm not even upset because I feel so much better! It's the mystery of the old doctor's scale - I think it needs to be recalibrated or something - not sure how one goes about doing that though. My dh, Bob, is 165 soaking wet and doesn't understand all the hoopla about weight to begin with! Can you imagine? So I trudge on as a happy camper these days!

Carol: Hope you are feeling better! Sounds like it hurts!

Weather here in southwestern Illinois has been so unbelievably hot. While others are flooding, our grass is dead, most of the flowers just can't take it and it was 102 again yesterday. I think it's going down as the hottest August on record. I just thank God for AC because I will not venture out in that kind of heat!

Hi to everyone else and have a GREAT day!
    Lori
  • HI GALS ~

Just a quick check in before I take a shower. I just got home from work then did 3.25 miles on the treadmill. Angie started school this week, this year they are starting an hour earlier, which is great for her because she is a MORNING person! So she is home when I get home...SHE WAS ON MY TREADMILL!! ARRRGHHH.....kidding....I just checked ballgame scores for awhile. Then when I got on she checked her email then took the dogs for a walk. She usually doesn't do the treadmill, she will but she prefers to run or walk outside, it was just too hot here today for her to run outside.

WILMA ~ I gained 1/2 a pound over yesterday but I weighed in less than last week. Last week I think I was 193.2 and today I was 190.6! At least you didn't gain!

CAROL ~ Glad you are feeling better!

LORI ~Keep on truckin' dear. As long as you are eating healthy like that and exercising the weight WILL COME OFF! Don't give up...challlenge yourself to do it the entire school year!! When the kids are in school...bust it! When they aren't...do the best you can....You CAN do this!!

I will check in soon ~ Gary
  • HI EVERYONE ~ Well, the weather this week has been wonderful; but I had to catch a terrible flu and have been sick all week. I'm still very sick today, so I came on here to distract myself, gulping down sugar-free cough & throat drops cuz my throat is raw! I may have to take a Neo-Citron and hit the sack soon; maybe sleep it away.

We did get up to the site earlier this week; I actually did a little hoeing to help DH with one hill on the high north side. He's in bed early for the same reason; he wants to rest up well so we can go up tomorrow. I sure hope that I feel well enuff to go up there; I can just curl up in the car and sleep if need be.

My DAD and Gracie are comin' back up to visit again; got some business to do and he's gonna finish off a little more stuff at their cottage. I'm glad that we get to see them one more time this year before they head off to Manitoba to see my sister. Gotta get rid of this flu so I don't give it to them.

Just went shopping today and did some errands; had to go in twice as we forgot some things. This flu had got my mind all scrambled ~ LOL! It was a nice day though and we went to one of our favorite lakes on the way home. Made a pot of homemade veggie soup base from veggies from our garden; put up 16 containers in the freezer for the month. Nothing like homemade soup to make you feel better ...

I'm sticking to my plan; got some walking in up on the loops up at the site; one day I went around three times as I felt good that day. Today, I did a lot of walking around the stores (that counts too).

GARY ~ CONGRATS on your big losing numbers; that treadmill is sure paying off for you. AH, HAH ~ you do have to share it ...
WILMA ~ I have to get a digital camera first; a friend on another forum gave me instructions on what kind to buy, so I can put up pics on this site. DH wants me to get one for Christmas; I may be able to get one before that.
LORI ~ we all hit plateaus sometimes. NSV (Non-Scale Victories) count too; I've lost lots of inches and many sizes on top of the lost pounds.
CAROL ~ our weather has cooled off too; canning tomatoes is lots of work, but it's nice to have them for the winter ...
SUE ~ have a nice holiday weekend too; here it's for workers ...

Take good care everyone; have a great holdiay weekend all; your fellow encourager ~ ROSEBUD ^PRAYERS GOIN' UP FOR ALL^
  • A quick update ~

Nicole called me this morning and said her dad is out of the coma, he is confused and not talking yet but recognizes his wife and other daughter. If he stays this way or gets better, he will be released next week to come home and re-hab.

She said to THANK all of you for the prayers, I thank you too!
  • Wonderful News Gary! We will continue to keep him and the family in our Prayers. Please keep us updated on how he is doing.
