I hope everyone is doing well tonight. I am home...ALONE...and loving it! well, I still have the "girls" to take care of. By the way, for you animal lovers out there, could you shoot off a prayer for my Rylee...she got a booster shot yesterday in her leg, it really is bothering her. She isn't putting any pressure on it. The vet said it should be fine soon...she is a big baby though...could be weeks!
Angie is off to her mom's, nephew is with his mom tonight, and Lara is moving back into her dad's for the rest of the summer I think.
This is a very touchy situation with my step-daughter. Very complicated. Wish I could explain but to be honest I really don't understand it all myself. Bottom line she is probably leaving college in New York...wants to go to BF college here in California...but he is flunking out at the moment....Angie wants to move her up to Angie's sister's for now and send her to a community college for a year...Lara's dad is so PO'd...putting pressure on Lara...Angie thinks she has a eating disorder...I get mad at Lara because she (as always) lives in our home like it is a hotel...which has always put pressure on me and Angie...why she gets away with it but the other kids don't/didn't...goes on and on....the battle...Lara hates me right now...her dad...her mom...very complicated. Prayers here would be much appreciated! Thanks already...I know you are sending them!!
On a happy note, my baby turned 24 on 7/11. She sent me a birthday card thanking me for beig such a good daddy!! OH yeah!! We are having a BBQ tomorrow for her. Should be a fair amount of folks here to play bocce ball and shuffleboard and eat steaks.
Nucklehead nephew is almost done with summer school. He has been lucky this week...I won't let anyone take him or pick him up...why should they be bothered because he didn't get his job done during the year. Plus the 5 mile round trip walk each day is good for him! Well, working close to home this week I have been able to take him some and pick him up...I am just too easy! The first 3 weeks though he didn't get a break! He has tennis camp every day after school from 4 to 7 so he is pretty tired.
FIT ~ Keep coming back! we are going a little slow right now but we do pick up steam. Congratulations on your 5 pounds gone forever!!
ROSEBUD ~ I am so glad the tests results are outstanding!! You will dance like a fairy soon
WILMA ~ I am glad the trip to the cabin went well. Angie has been doing a bunch of reading this summer, between plane flights and slow TV this time of year...plus no BIG project for her this summer, like she usually has. I spent 4 evenings with my MIL a few weeks ago, when I was working out of town. She made awesome meals for myself, my brother and brother in law...much better than restaurant or fast food! I miss posting here too...but I need something to post to my life is pretty boring! I hope you had a great time at your #30! You still look pretty good for an "older" women ...hummm...my #35 is this year...OUCH!!!
GYWN ~ I hope this finds your son and you at peace. We all are sending up prayers! It sounds like your son just was not able...YET....to use his mind as he needs to to stay "focused" on good things. I pray that he finds the calling God has for him soon! He is still a very young man. I pray that "new" car gets back on it's feet...er...tires soon! Worship "where" you can!
Prayers and to all the rest of you too. Have a great week-end ladies and enjoy the time with your families! Worship when and where you can!!
Hi Gary,
Thanks for the acknowledgment! I started reading your thread and as I kept reading I saw my name and I thought, Wow, I got encouragment. That's so cool! I think another pound is right around the corner for me. I'm so excited.
Yesterday I was with my niece and nephews at Walmart. They're young, but boy, do they try to get me to buy them this and that. It's hard to resist them, but at the same time I don't want them to think I'm made of money. haha!
They try to con me by acting sweet and nice to me. But I can't fall for it, you know. We don't have any children so I try to spend as much time with them as possible.
I ended buying them lunch and they were happy.
While at Walmart I ran into an old friend who I used to go to church with years ago. I know it was the Lord, because I was recently praying for friends to hang out with and who are married and who know Him. My husband and I don't really socialize, where pretty much homebodies.
So to see my dear friend was a joy for me, I can't wait to get together with her.
Well take care for now and God Bless!
Diana
HI EVERYONE ~ seems everyone is sooo busy this summer; we have had a good week and weekend. Actually, we are trying to keep busy on purpose; trying to burn as much energy as possible. We've had a nice mix of sun and rain lately; and today was gorgeous, with a double rainbow after a late shower ~ a sign, ya know (I PROMISE TO KEEP MY PROMISES).
We went fishing (and did some walking); got a sunburn on my nose though. Didn't catch any; one young one tried and missed, but I saw him; I know ~ that doesn't count ~ LOL! Then we had a little picnic after (chicken and salad). It was a nice way to while away a beautiful Sunday afternoon though; all that fresh air by a lake with a lovely breeze to keep all the buggies away ~ simply perfect, I think!
We went shopping on Friday and we also picked up a set of horseshoes (the game kit, I mean). DH and I used to play that a lot; we plan to pick back up on some of the games we used to play. I think we'll get a bocce and crochet set sometime too. We're looking at trying to find a place where more people like us live; that we can socialize with, I mean. We are kinda isolated here where we live; so we're lookin' to change that. We are investigating some options for the future.
ANYHOW, things are going great here ~ I sure hope you are all keepin well; take good care of yourselves ~ your fellow encourager ~ ROSEBUD. ^ PRAYERS ^
I am going in work a little late this morning, giving the clients time to get themselves off to work before we "destroy" their bedroom, during the remodel work we are doing today.
Angie is back from her mom's. She has a conference today then is going to Las vegas with her sister (who has a conference there) for a couple of days. Between me being out of town, and her so much, for various reasons, we haven't seen much of each other the last six weeks. This coupled with "Lara" issues has really put a strain on our marraige to say the least. It is complicated for sure...and nothing new...our issue(s)...same 'ol conflict we always have ~ How to deal with Lara issues in a way to not destroy "us". We worked on that all week-end and made great progress...we are finally...after 11 1/2 years...being able to understand each others side on this...and most important probably....each becomming accountable for ourselves in the mess, including Lara. We have always sworn that this problem we have will not destroy us...so far...although rough at times...so good.
If you want you can go the general chatter of the forums and look under chicks in control for my 2 posts, some of this will help explain some of the issues with Lara.
Well, I am running Ron to summer school this morning so I have to jam. I will be back later today to post again.
Hello all! It's a gorgeous sunny day out there. It's Wednesday - only 2 days til the weekend. This summer is flying past.
I had a great time at my 30th highschool reunion. It was great reaquainting myself with old classmates. DH wasn't too bored. There were lots of people to talk to. I did come home tired though. Us oldies find it hard to stay up so late!
Gary: My prayers are certainly with you and your situation with Lara. I spent my teen years in a blended family and know exactly what you're going through. I'll pray especially that you and Angie can find peace with this situation. You have something to special to have it in jeopardy.
Rosebud: Moving is a big decision. We did it not that long ago. We really felt that God wanted us to make the move and it's been a good situation for us. Prayers for you as you make that decision.
Diana: I know what you mean. Auntie will buy that for me!! I do think that they appreciate spending time with you much more than the things you buy them. I'm so happy that you ran into an old friend. It's so neat to reestablish friendships.
HI EVERONE ~ We're having a lovely week weather-wise; nice and sunny today with just enough cloud to keep the temps in the 70's F range. This week I have been doin' my regular house chores; plus outdoor walking; and this week, I have started increasing my indoor activities to give me over an hour of daily exercise. I hope this helps; it sure can't hurt as long as I don't overdo it and hurt myself.
We're gonna pick up some sand to make the horseshoe beds; some will probably end up as sand boxes by the kiddies; but we'll get extra. My salad garden is fantastic; having lettuce almost daily on sandwiches and salads. The main garden is finally coming along, but some odd wildflower is coming up in with the veggies this year; DH thinks becuz of so much rain this month. The buggies have made a comeback, so you have to pick the best times to go outside; gotta keep movin' or they will carry you away ~ LOL!
WILMA ~ glad you & DH had a nice time at the reunion.
DIANA ~ nothin' better than a renewed friendship.
GARY ~ prayers for LARA; your marriage is #1 right?
SUE ~ hope you are feelin' better, my friend; we sure would love to hear from ya!!! ^ SPECIAL PRAYERS for you and JIM ^
My Father came back up yesterday to do some more work on that cottage; they decided that since they are going out to Manitoba to see my sister in September, that he might as well come back up here this month and finish off the cottage (at least the whole main shell of it, anyways).
DH has to go to the docs tomorrow morning, but I know he'll want to go out there to take a peek tomorrow afternoon; sounds like a great excuse for a picnic to me. Take good care of yourselves; and have a great week, your fellow encourager ~ ROSEBUD ^ PRAYERS FOR ALL ^
I am going to try and catch up...by the end of the day I am taking Ron to summer school again this morning, giving him another break from walking the 2.5 miles there, since I haven't been able to pick him up all week. Angie is in Las vegas right now with her sisters, she gets back today...I think? Not positive on that, I don't remember discussing a return date, she just said she would be gone a couple of days.
FITINTIME ~ I enjoy reading your posts here and the other threads. Thanks again for your prayers on my step-daughter's issues...it is better now (I think)...ut ongoing. Enjoy that time with those niece's and nephew's as it goes by quick. My little brother passed away some years ago, Angie and I are guardians of my nephew Ron, have been since he started 7th grade...he will be starting his senior year of high school in a month. It has been a struggle at times, wouldn't change it for the world! though. I will try and post a picture from his 7th grade confirmation and one of today of him...so you can see how he has grown.
Ahhh, Thanks Gary & Angie!
All those things I say come from my heart as I'm prompted!
Actually I guess you all can just call me by my first name, it's Diana.
You know the Lord is so Awesome, I never thought that we could be used to minister to others in this place.
I love it!
Thanks for the good words regarding my Nieces and Nephews, yep I wouldn't trade what I have with them for anything. Your Nephew looks like a great kid, and what an honor, that the Lord would entrust you with him. He saw in you two what your Nephew needed.
Okay, I better stop before I start to cry!
Talk to you all later on!
Thanks DIANA. The scripture under your post is the one my son had put on his varsity lettermen's jacket when he was in high school. My nephew is a great kid...but he is ADHD...so it has been a challenge...but nothing that we can't get through with our Savior!!
WILMA~ I am so glad you had a fun time at your 30th! I missed mine...planned on going but at the very last minute my 2 best buddies from Oregon and Washington backed out...not that I didn't have other friends going...but then a good friend from church (my age) passed away leaving 3 kids...his funeral was that day...after I went to that I just didn't feel like a party. Thanks for the prayers! we do have something special...I am pretty sure we will get through it...AGAIN...always the same problem though...other than that...no problems at all. How are the kids?
ROSEBUD ~ Thanks for the prayers dear! Glad to see your activity getting better! Actually Angie and I talked last week about putting in a horseshoe pit...guess we should challenge each other enjoy the pic-nic and time with your dad on the cottage.
so guys I need a little help. Tomorrow I am taking daughter to Ignite Chicago an all day Christian bands gathering. Anyway they do not allow you to bring in food and drinks! Yikes it starts at 12 and goes till 10pm what am I gonna do? I kinda of doubt they are gonna have salad and fruit stands! I am also sure they will charge 2 dollars for water!
Hi Mickey,
That does sound like fun! I would just go prepared to pay, maybe they'll show some mercy and not charge 2 dollars for water or alot for food.
Just go and trust the Lord that He will be with the hearts of those promoting the concert that they won't overcharge anyone.
Go in Peace and have fun!
Good morning everyone. My daughter is super excited because of the concert today. She loves Barlow Girl and David Crowder. I wil see if they let me take water. I really do not care about money thing I just do not want to pig out. I have been taken alli but the weight loss is slow. guess that is what happens after 40. Anyways please pray for safe travels. that is most important to me as I hate driving! Blessings
