  • Hi Lori! Great to see you back here! I wondered what had happened to you.

Sue: Half way to goal! Wow! Way to go!

Karen: Some powerful thoughts! sometimes we go through our day and don't even realize how much we are doing to make Satan happy. May we be mindful of what we do! Thanks for the reminder!

Shymoment: The Martha/ Maxine was hilarious. I really needed that!

Gary: Are you joining our Wed. a.m. challenge? You could kick butt with all that work on the treadmill.

I did a bit of walking today. Spent yesterday cleaning my house and that counts for a bit of exercise. Relaxed today though. Just finished reading a Nicholas Sparks book. Love him!

    Have a great week!
  • We posted the same time WILMA ~ Sure what time I gotta be there?
  • Hello Everyone,
I'm glad that everyone seemed to really think about that letter that I got in the email. I know I went back read it twice before I posted it. Sure does make you stop and think!

I talked with my sister today and she seems to be doing a lot better. They had a meeting at their church tonight with and architec. Last year the roof collapsed in on the sanctuary and the building is only about 3 years old. They were very lucky that no one was in there at the time. There were some people working in the church but they heard "creaking" and got everyone outside before it collapsed. That was back during the ice storms they had back there. But she said she was feeling a lot better and I hope she continues to get better. I worry when Dr.s pass out prescriptions like they were candy and I'm afraid she might have had a reaction to some of the meds that she is on.

Gary, still no word on the people from San Diego.. I get so frustrated when people say they will get back in touch and then you hear nothing. Still have had a few more calls and several people have stopped and looked at the 5th. wheel too but still nothing from anybody. We listed them both on craigslist and hopefully we will get something good from there. Trying so hard to keep a positive attitude but sometimes it is very hard!

On a good note though -- I lost 2 pounds this week! Still have to get motivated to get in some execise. I have the treadmill, mini-trampoline, and ab lounge just need to make the time to do it! But I guess by at least cleaning like a mad woman when I get up in the mornings in case someone wants to come and see it must be doing something! I'd like to do some walking outside but by the time I am ready to do that--- it is raining again! I'll be glad when this rainy weather is over but then it will probably start snowing!

Hugs to everyone and I'll check back later.
  • Hi Gary, Sue, Wilma and Everyone!

It's good to be back! Gary, thanks SO much for the prayers! That's great you had weddings in the last year! And those beautiful doggies are doing great, I'm sure! Ours are getting old and slow, but are still as affectionate and loyal as ever!

Our kids went back to school full-time today and everything seems to be ok so far. One day at a time, Sweet Jesus!

I am reading all the posts and praying for all your concerns. Have a great week!
    In Christ,
    Lori
  • HI EVERYONE ~ WOW, there's been a lot of activity here while I was away for a few days. We're having beautiful weather this month; it's really nice for a change. Got those beans picked and put up in the freezer. We went to the FARMER'S MARKET on Saturday morning, and so many growers had few veggies left.

Apparently, I could have made some money with my beans; one lb bags were going for $4.00 each. The weather ruined the growing season for many here so I think we did OK. DH thinks the fence he had to put up maybe helped our beans a little (by protecting them from frost); he may be right about that.

Planted some trees on Saturday afternoon; Sunday, went to church, then out to a friend's place for lunch and games; was fun and so nice of them to invite us.

SUE ~ you are do'in great; I'm so glad that you are feelin' so well. Hope the fund-raiser goes/went well. I have a picture of JESUS right in front of me on this desk; he's real close by all the time!

GARY ~ the fan is off for the season! SUE is probably right; the switch may have been stuck in partial-on/off and clicked on becuz of that; that makes a lot of sense. Our PIN PIN did go by the fan when she came in here to join us; maybe that was just enough movement on the floor to get it to pop on. Yah, that's as good a theory as any ~ I'll take it!

HI TO WILMA, LORI, RENNIE, and KAREN; and all our other friends. Take good care of yourselves; your fellow encourager ROSEBUD
  • hI THERE!
Lori- Stay focused and you can do it. Sorry for the many challenges you faced glad things are getting better now, scary situation when strangers can rule your life
E.Z.- Awesome job ! down 7 lbs. Continued prayers for Jeff. Thanks for all your support and prayers. What a sweetie wanting to send a donation. Jim will be in rehab probably until Christmas time. He is currently being covered under medicaid/medicare. His insurance is exhausted. They did pretty good with the benefit, they had around 1100 dinners sold, which is remarkable for such a small community. The money will help pay for some things that is not covered and traveling expenses for his wife. She has 3 brain tumors and id disabled, she has to go for testing every 3 months to see if they are growing. My brother in law has been trying to help her cover traveling expenses, with the price of gas, its $30. /day.
    Wilma- thanks!
Nancy- prayers for your sister and congrats down 2 lbs way to go.
Shymoment- prayers your dental apt goes well!
Rosebud- fresh beans are yummy! Thanks for all your support and encouragement.
I leave for camp tom, and wont be home till next Monday. Have an awesome week.
  • Fitday?
    Hi Everyone,

Do any of you use the fitday website? And if so, do you use the free program or the $20.00 program? Is the $20.00 one worth it? It all seems complicated to me, but I guess that's the old brain! LOL!
    Lori
  • Hello Everyone,
Lori, I do use the fitday Free program. I really like it and I can't see paying the $20 that they want. I know some people say they like the paid program better but I'm happy with the free one.

Rennie, Gosh the only thing worse than a toothache is maybe an ear ache!! I don't like either one at all!! And lately I have had a "once in awhile" toothache that I'm trying to ignore! Hope things go well for you tomorrow

Gary, on the weight loss! You are doing great!! Send some of that motivation this way!! Still no more news on the house or the
5th wheel. My daughter-in-law went ahead and posted the ad in a bulletin on Myspace. Maybe that will generate something good.

Hello to everyone else. I'm going to have to catch up with everyone later. I finally got my Blazer washed yesterday on the outside and today I vacuumed the inside today and got the windows washed. So I finished that and got it put back in the garage before we get more rain! So far we have gone a couple days without rain but they are saying we will probably get more tomorrow.

Anyway, Have a good night everyone and to everyone.
  • This is weigh in day! I maintained again this week. Hopefully I'll see some movement downward next week! How'd you do Elizbennet?

Lori: I have used Fitday in the past and should use it more now. I find it a useful tool. It really opens your eyes to the calories you take in each day. I have never paid the fee. I didn't feel I needed the extras.

Shymoment: Hope your dental appt. goes well today. I hate going too. I'm due for a check up and cleaning but keep putting it off.

Sue: I hope you have a great week camping. I can't believe summer is going by so quickly. See you when you get back.

Gary: Today is weigh in. Are you here with us? You've probably already got me beat!

Rosebud: Sounds like you're busy getting your garden harvested. I don't put up veggies anymore because of space issues but I do miss having them available in the winter.

Karen: You're doing great with your weight loss. Keep up the great work!

    Have a great day!
  • Hello. I was just wondering if I could join y'all?

    Karen
  • Karen, You are more than welcome here!! Please post often and let us know about yourself.
  • HI GALS ~

I hope everyone is doing well tonight. I have been busy at work, ballgames on and treadmill work

I finished my first "month" of my new better life choices of eating and exercise. I lost 8 pounds, all 8 after the first week! I actually am down another pound as of this morning.

    I posted a long one yesterday...but wa-la...gone to cyberspace.

My daughter in law's dad had the breathing tube removed and a tracheotomy was done, still no good news. Ryan and Nicole called tonight and want to meet Angie and I for dinner tomorrow. They will finish their first week of the new school year tomorrow...they are enjoying their students so far.

Amanda and Zac have a tennis tournament on Sunday and asked me to come down to watch.

Ron has started his last year of high school and already his "past" has caught up with him. He was in tennis PE, the coach needed to drop 2 kids because of class size limits, he told Ron he had to cut him because of his past and he couldn't trust him to behave. He came home and told me "Uncle Gary, it's just like you warned me, I can't be good for one or two days and think people will forget...booy am I learning my lesson." The coach told him no hard feelings and he hopes he trys out for the tennis team in the spring.

Lara heads back to New York for college on Saturday.

Angie has had "school" this week but teachers only...kids coming back on Monday....I will look for "warning signs"

    GENTLE BUTTERFLY Welcome Karen

Congratulations on your "NO GAIN"

  • Hi Karen and Wilma,
Thanks for the replies on the fitday question. I'll just use the free one - it certainly looks thorough enough!

    Gentlebutterfly Karen -
    You will LOVE it here!
    Lori
  • I think I've posted here before but not in awhile. Does anyone use the Weigh Down principles....not the doctrine but the eating ideas? It seems this thread has been here a really long time. I always wonder what happens to people when they just stop posting. There was a girl on the first posts that posted for a couple of yr. and then she just stopped. I've been reading some of the older posts.
  • I thought I would introduce myself. I'm a 45 yo homeschooling mother of 7 and have visited this board for years. I've tried turning the weight issues over to our Lord daily, but it's only in the past few weeks that I've started to control my eating and I've felt motivated to go on a control eating plan.

From the weigh down program I am learning to focus on internal cues and it's a blessing to have scripture and questions for different weeks (I picked up a used copy of Out of Egypt from 92. Great tapes, so far at least.)

I look forward to getting to know my fellow sisters in Christ on this board and hope we can stick together on this journey. I too have noticed people posting and then disappearing. It was for that reason that I didn't register until I knew I was ready to commit to forming relationships here and that this wasn't just another impulse to lose.

I will be praying for you ladies at church tomorrow (we are Catholic christians and go to daily Mass...a great opportunity for quiet time before the Lord since the kids are used to sitting still for at least a few minutes there.)
