That's what I wound up doing. Still too much food for me. Scale is up, which is pretty impossible, given that my calorie intake is still low. I'm chalking it up to fluid retention and whatever this stupid illness is. My stomach is really bloated and I think I'm still retaining water from the IV fluids I had in the hospital.
I found something I think is special, so decided to pass it along to you guys. Before IP, I consumed massive amounts of coffee daily, with sugar and non-dairy creamer, flavored creamers, etc. The thicker my coffee, the better! Well, on IP, I only used splenda in my coffee. I never cared for the taste of adding any of the shakes to my coffee. They just didn't thicken them up like I wanted. Now, I can add half and half to my morning coffee and I do. I also found a product called Caffe D'Vita sugar free mocha cappuccino. It's with the instant coffees. It is sweetened with splenda and it contains no hydrogenated oil (that's what makes non-dairy creamer so bad!). A serving size is 2 tsp. Calories: 35, Carbs: 4, Fat: 2. I only add 1/2 tsp to my morning coffee, so get 1/4 of those stats listed above. Roughly 10 calories, 1 carb, 1/2 gram of fat. It thickens my coffee and gives a subtle mocha flavor to it. I really love this stuff. I make sure that it fits in to my breakfast stats equation.
There are recipes on the back of the can for iced mocha capp and hot capp. I haven't tried those recipes, because I don't want to give up any of my food for breakfast, but I imagine they taste good.

good to know I love iced capps... I will have to see if it is available in canada, and if not it will be something for my list for my sister to find for me in Montana.
I think there was some talk about eating mostly P3 style in maintenance in this thread. But that is pretty much the way I eat during the week, and then follow the maintenance protocol (with some flexibility) on the weekends.
Thanks a whole bunch for taking the time to be so explicit. I'm sorry I missed you post yesterday.
Well, it's official. I am up 2.2 this morning. Up for the first time in over 6 months. I'm super bummed. This is the only week I haven't eaten out in over a month. I had the flu. I started running again. And a gain.
Hate to be a chronic complainer but after seeing all the good losses it's hard not to be upset. Especially when you were right on and doing exactly what the diet said to do.
LYNSEY!!! This too shall pass. JUst hang in there , do your phase 3 and get to maintenance and enjoy your vacation. Jan. will be here soon and you can go back to phase 1 and lose your weight. I feel for you though.
I have a question for you experienced Ipers: In phase 3, do I need to add a protein snack if I'm exercising?
I started jogging and strength training in phase 2 - and dare I say I actually like it? I hear myself say it, but I have to tell ya, it sounds like an out-of-body experience. This is the first time in my life where I feel like my body isn't working against me when I exercise. I hope that means this time I'll stick with it as I journey into maintenance and more permanent lifestyle changes.

Thanks for your advice!

I have exercised throughout my whole IP journey and I take in (1) extra packet on every day that I exercise. I usually do an RTD chocolate as I can throw it in my gym bag and have it immediately after my workout. So, my answer is yes, add in an extra packet on workout days, and take it as soon as you are done exercising.

Thanks Jenny! I appreciate it. BTW, you look amazing!
So, today is my last day of phase 3 for this round. I am officially 2 lbs over my goal weight. I lost almost 3 lbs in phase 3, maybe I'll get those other 2 lbs off in maintenance. Either way, I'm happy right now where I am. I broke down and bought a new pair of jeans last night and a new lightweight jacket. I need them, nothing fits anymore except for a few things people have given me. I had saved a bunch of clothes from when I was this size before, but they just don't look good anymore. I can't believe I packed and moved with those clothes more than once.

I was thinking the same thing. I too, saved alot of my clothes, which I can fit into. but I find that I dont really care too much for them. even the jeans... I'm not sure if its a "style" change or what?!?!
I think it is a style thing. All of my jeans were higher waisted and all of my shirts were sort of cropped, hitting right at the waist. Nobody wears that style now. Tops are longer and jeans are lower. Even the colors of jeans are different now. Plus, I've had 2 kids. My stomach is not as flat as it was, and my butt is flatter, lol. My old clothes belong with my old body, not this one!
I have a question for you and I will appreciate your advice.
I was 4 days into Phase 3 when the holidays hit. I had hoped to remain OP, but didn't. I made it through day 1 of 3 days of celebrations, but was off plan on Days 2 and 3. I plan to Phase 1 today. I'm assuming I should begin my 14 days of Phase 3 again - beginning tomorrow. Since I had two days off plan, should I Phase 1 for additional days until I return to my lowest weight and then begin Phase 3?
Thanks for your advice! Much appreciated!
And, thank heavens my hubby and I are not big into New Years celebrations!
That's a good question. If this happened to me, I would do the 1 day of phase 1 that you probably already did, then do phase 2 until you reach the weight you want. The 2 weeks of phase 3 are very important, so I would definitely do them properly. Good luck!
