Sarah - have you looked at Optimum Nutrition protein powder? They sell it at GNC. Its about 120 cals, 24gm carbs, only 1 gm sugar, made with Splenda. Could be a good fill in? Great progress so far - good luck with weekend!

Wayward - Thanks =) How is the wife, better? Are you staying well? Did you eat your vegetables. . . all of them??????

Wife is better, just the little one is still home sick.
Yep ate them all lol... wife tried another new thing last night, she tried making potato chips out of radish slices, they actually weren't too bad.. for cooked veggies lol.

Just need to figure out what to do for dinner tonight now.

Just slice and broil with oil or pam? I need more snacky crunchy things like that. Today I tried to make Romaine Chips (because its unlimited). It wasn't the worst thing ever and could probably be tweaked to be better . . . but kale chips are much better. have you tried them yet? They really don't taste like a vegetable at all once you toast them up. They are just salty little things . . . I could take them down the way I would a bag of chips!

Dinner for me was poached salmon and sauteed zucchini, cucumber and jalepeno (I felt bad wasting veggies and this is what was going to spoil). Salmon, good. veggie combo? not so much. Do you like salmon? As I was making I thought making a cauliflower mashed "potato", placing poached salmon on top, with a few sliced grape tomatoes would be pseudo gourmet . . at laest in appearance =)

My kiddos are sick too. It's terrible, but i was grateful to have a reason to give them benadryl tonight. The two older ones (3 and 2) got new bunk beds and have been staying up really late playing in them. Since I cannot force them to sleep, the fallout has been horrendous (whiny misbehaving kids ALL day). Now they are sick, so they have also been waking a few times a night EACH. I hope the benadryl makes them comfortable throughout the night and makes them fall asleep soon.

For me, I am hoping for a bath tonight and a face mask. Last night I painted my fingers and toes. By trying not to munch and replacing it, I should be very clean and well polished =)

In August you will only need an additional packet on the days you do the full body [strength training] workout and long runs (Mon & Wed & Sat). On the light running days [2-3 miles] as well as the long runs, make sure you have a 1/2 tsp of sea salt in water prior to and after runs with an extra potassium calcium in the evenings.

In September same guidelines apply. [same schedule for training]

In October you need an IP food 30-45min prior to workout AND runs (something solid... ie. Omelet, pancake, oatmeal, or bar. NO chips or nuts) as well as the sea salt & water, then a IP drink following all workouts in October. The peach-mango or chocolate drink mix are great choices. [short runs here are 4-5 miles, long ones up to 11, still strength train 2x/week]

Make sure you do not change anything the week prior to your 1/2 marathon with your diet. The morning of I would again go with a solid choice (like the eggs) for breakfast at least 45 min prior and hydrate with the sea salt 10-15 min before race. During the race, you should have Powerade Ion 4 drink along with water. Afterwards you will have a IP drink as usual. You should do great! I get excited just talking about this! LOL, I'll see you soon!

Maybe this will help with the long walk training as well??

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well staying OP, awesome! Wayward, hope your head feels better? You all inspired me - just want you to know that. I feel like if I screw up traveling I will have to come in here and confess and I really don't want to do that! Ha!
So proud of you! I would love to challenge myself to run like that! We are around the same goals. When's your run. I think i am going to start pilates soon when I am down more and then train to run, a friend of mine just did her first 10k yesterday in the FL heat! I will get her to train me. It's all mental i know. I just need my music.

Okay, I survived the rehearsal dinner (even with TOM as my guest...he's been with me since Thursday...blah!) it was a buffet, in a beautiful room over the water with the sunset. I had the pasta skillet... hold the pasta, it had chicken and mushrooms and spinach and I added some marinara sauce. delish. I had carved roast beef but I wish it was rarer... then the salad was spinach and red onions and mushrooms, PERFECT! I made my own dressing and brought it with me. I ignored the desserts and drank water with lime all night and a cup of coffee. then for the champagne toast they had sparkling water in a champagne glass too because the bride's family doesn't drink! didn't feel deprived and I had my vanilla RTD shake while everyone was having dessert.
next up the wedding... I hope I am not the only one dancing... nothing against people that don't drink especially because i am enjoying company with drinking now, but I will feel bad if the d.j. is playing music and only 5 people are on the dancefloor. Well, I will be there dancing and burning calories with my water and vodka with lime on the rocks... (hold the vodka)!

Does anyone have any outtings this weekend they need to pre-plan for? good luck! You can do it!!!

AS for the weight loss..i worked hard yesterday to stay on plan and the scale went no where..im technically in the dreaded 4th week..so that could be why i guess..

This week has been good. Now at minus 19. Was talking to one of the other nurses at work about my weight loss. SHe asked me how much I was planning to lose. I told her my goal was 138 pounds. She was shocked when she realized what I weigh. She said I did not look like I weighed that much. So maybe there is a tiny frame under there! Who would have guessed! LOL. Wedding next week that I am very involved with. So that will be a challenge. Weigh-in is on Thursday so the next one should be okay-it will be the one after. Trying to drink my water. Stopped treating dill pickles like they were unlimited and it made a big difference!

Thanks, I actually found some ready to drink shakes by premier nutrition. They are 11oz so a little bigger than the IP RTD. They have 160 cal., 3g fat, 5g carbs, 1g sugar and 30g of protein and made with splenda. I got 18 of them for $25. Not perfect but will help me get through weekend and nice to have on hand. The IP RTD shakes are not only expensive but expensive to ship so this saves me a little $.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Welcome!! There is a lot of information and support on this site, it really helps. The plan works really well as I am sure you have seen on peoples posts. Just follow it like they say and you will do great. I was lucky to not have any bad symptoms the first week, just a little tired. Hope your first week goes great! The first weigh in is really encouraging .
