Good morning all. Cool today here. I love this fall weather. I'm snuggled in my chair with a blanket and the dog laying on me snoring away. Trying to figure what all I've got to today. Like laundry and cleaning. Need to figure whats for dinner.
Solly- My gosh thats something what your doctor said. What are you supposed to do with Brain bleed? Wonder what your RA is going to say about the celebrex. Hope you can get your sleep apena under control. Keep up the fight girl, you can do it.....hugs...
Ellen- Pot luck sounds fun. My DH would love the Tikka sauce. He loves spicy. I made enchilada's with hot enchilada sauce last night.
Just got back from my AK Chiro appt. She said I was a mess. I was not surprised with all the stressful things going on. She really worked on systems that would help my foot heal. She told me to ice it. No heat...so I am freezing a bottle of water and will try that. I have to go back in a week and a half to try and clear up more of it.
I went by the pool store and got algaecide so Tom can close the pool, then Trader Joes for milk and cheese.
I just ate half a can of canned chicken. I was SO hungry! Unfortunately, my blood sugar levels are way too high due to poor eating and stress yesterday. I shouldn't complain...I can only blame myself.
TONI: A lazy morning with a beloved pet snoozing on you sounds lovely...especially with a cup of coffee to boot!
Steve grilled chicken legs tonight and I had that with a combo of broccoli and cauliflower. Should have made a salad but I'm having trouble with a salad dressing thats easy and I like. Sure finding more and more things I've been buying with corn syrup in them. Can you believe its in Mott's applesauce. Started reading the China Study so I've got two books going. Beautiful day today. I loved having the front door open.
Ellen- Good thing your chiro worked with you. I hope it helped. Did you miss meat when you were eating vegan? I've been wanting to ate more veggies and less meat to my diet.
Morning! I have been up a while. I woke up around 4 and could not get back to sleep so I finally just got up. I made up two weeks of menus, and played on some games. Its time for breakfast now, then I think I will run up to the art supply store and buy a few things I need.
TONI: Don't take everything in that China Study book seriously. I have read some reviews of it that say they seriously skewed the information to support a vegan lifestyle. I agree there is some merit to cutting down on meats and increasing your plant based foods, but it is not going to save the planet, or even make you live to be 100. Google the author, the book and read reviews. As my husband tells me, follow the money. I did that with the book that said a vegan diet would cure diabetes. It did not cure mine, or even help that much. I found the author was a big animal rights activist, and former head of PETA. The results he published were questioned by a number of experts. Some people need meat. Go take Mercola's nutrition typing quiz and see what type you are. He gives recommendations on how to eat, what to eat, etc. He seriously makes a lot of sense. We started following a few of the guidelines for carnivores, or protein types, and have seen a big difference in how we feel. As for the HFCS, I am with you on that. Its in everything. I buy organic applesauce at Whole Foods, Trader Joes or even Publix. Apples are one item they say is good to alway get organic of. I did not miss meat when I was eating vegan very much. I ate a lot of beans and rice. I also ate a good bit of soy, which is a mixed blessing. It interferes with thyroid hormones, and should not be used unless its fermented and even then only in moderation.
Good morning. Boy am I glad it is Friday. Thought it would never get here. Work is slow and I am so bored and all I want to do is eat.
Last night we went my DD and looked at 3 cars. I think she is going again tonight and we have to meet the lease agent tomorrow. She may buy one as my SIL know the VP and he can get her a good deal. I would like for her to get out from under that lease.
I don't have any other plans for the weekend, thank goodness. We may take the baby to Trick & Treat at the Elks tomorrow night. My DD doesn't want to go so they can go eat in peace while we take him. He is going to be Mickey Mouse as he just loves him right now. He says "Teet Teet" for T&T and "Booooo" is what the witch says. I get such a kick out of him. I think we are going to see their land sometime tomorrow too.
Ellen, I thought ice would help. It got rid of mine very quickly. Just keep rolling your foot over it while you are on the computer or watching tv. Good job getting your menhus planned for 2 weeks. I will have to check your latest score on BB.
Toni, My doggie sits on my DH's lap unless I am the only one home. He likes him best, but yet, I feed him all the time. It sure was cold here this morning but supposed to warm up. We had grilled chicken legs wed night for dinner. Tasted pretty good to me.
Crystle, you are probably out walking or doing a tape. Have a great weekend.
Mecee, I know you are hard at work, have a good one.
Just wanted to check in . I'm doing well but I am very busy at work working on a major project. No time for replies. Have a great weekend. I should be back to normal by next wek. I am still getting my workouts in no matter how late it is. ( I went to the gym one night at 9;30p.m.) Talk to you later.
Toni...I eat a lot less meat but when I want it I want it..LOL Last night I ate over 4 ounces of London broil. It was good but I was stuffed! The night before I didn't have meat I had chick peas and whole wheat pasta with a tad of light Italian dressing on it. I was also full after that.
Ellen...Wow you got up early. Sounds like nap day to me. I think it is great you can make menus. I've tried in the past but I am a wake up and decide kinda gal. My son just asked what was for dinner. I said I don't know something with hamburger. LOL He is thinking we need burgers. I have found by the time I weigh out 4 ounces for a burger for myself it is so tiny that it doesn't even look like a burger when it is done. So not sure what I'll have. Maybe a taco salad. What did you find for breakfast? I really like the fiber one cereal but I found that it has aspertame in it so now I really don't want to eat it. I'll finish the box eventually but I probably won't buy it again.
Solly...you grand baby sounds so precious. I'm not doing anything yet this morning. I'm being a tad motivation challenged. Drinking my water thinking of getting dressed. Hope you have a blessed and restful weekend.
Good morning. Got up later than I wanted to but I stayed up late last night. Wish I wouldn't have done that. I feel draggy now. I'm getting hungry and will have to hunt down food soon. Need to catch up the laundry and stuff today. And get ready for the week end.
Ellen- Thank you so much for talking to me about the China Study. I'm disappointed with it and don't know now if I want to finish reading it. I really think I know how to eat but not doing it right is my downfall. I love the idea of the meal plans. Think after I get off here I'll go take that quiz. Thanks so much for talking to me about this.
Solly-How fun to take the Grandson trick or treating. I miss having little ones come to the door since we live in the country instead of in town. DH has Jackson on his lap now. He loves DH lap. Have a good week end.
Crystle- I need to have some meatless meals too. Chick peas and whole pasta sounds good. And so does the taco salad. I love mexican food. Think I'll be having the leftover enchiladas for breakfast.
Mercee- Sounds like you're crazy busy. Good for you and the workouts.
So I did not make it to the store I originally planned on going to. Its so far away...so I went to Hobby Lobby instead and they had canvas on sale for 40% off...yes! SO I bought a bunch of 8x10 canvas boards and will paint one a day! A friend of mine who has a Mary Kay business is having a Christmas open house and my daughter and I are both going to be part of it and try and sell stuff. I am going to frame my paintings and take them. I am thinking $50 for the small ones is fair. The large ones maybe need to be more like $75. I need to price frames.
I never did take a nap. I am SO tired, I think I will crawl in bed soon. And I may take an Ambien tonight. I am sick of waking up in the middle of the night lately and not being able to go back to sleep.
Happy Saturday morning everyone. Hope you all slept good last night. Its a beautiful day here so far. We're waiting for rain here. Don't know what I'm doing yet today. But right now having a nice cup of coffee. Should get up and make oatmeal.
Ellen- Hope you slept good last night. Its miserable not sleeping. That sure sounds like a good price on the paintings. I would pay it in a minute.
Evening! I had a busy weekend. Today we were officially accepted for membership at our new church. Tonight, I went to a kick off meeting for a women's mentoring/cooking program that will start in January. The young woman who is getting it started and I started talking...and we talked and talked and talked. She has been praying for someone 'like' the arty folks at our old church, which they considered attending, but ended up at this new church we are at. So she is looking at me as an answer to prayer. How neat is that? She is a painter...and we have a lot in common. So that was totally fun.
My week is shaping up to be busy, but I think it will be a good one. I intend to kick it off with water aerobics at 10 in the morning.
I made chicken tacos today. They turned out pretty good. Then while I had the beans cooked and meat defrosted, I went ahead and fixed the chili for dinner tomorrow. So, dinner is all ready with the exception of a green vegetable. I will probably throw together a salad. Easy!
I did a quick painting tonight. Its just so so. I need to scour the internet for some pictures to paint. I am running out of stuff. I used real apples today and while it was ok, I don't have the proper lighting to make it good. I need a spot light to use.
Good Morning! Hope you can hear me, I am at the rock bottom. I am miserable and it usually takes me to hit bottom before I can do anything so here I go. I totally think I am ready. I had a protein shake for breakfast and I have some Greek yogurt and fruit for a snack. For lunch I am going to try another protein shake and fruite. Diner is tortalinni and a salad. My DD wants to try the diabetes diet which I believe is pretty much the same as SB. I may do some research on it later.
Ellen if you have any info on the diabetes diet, I would appreciate it. Sounds like you are going to be a perfect fit for your new church. What a better job for you as a cooking mentor. I think you should do a grouping of yoru kitchen veggies. Those onions are so real. A group of items would look cute in a kitchen.
Toni, we got a lttle rain this morning but not near enough. It is supposed to warm up to 80 here today. I think it will be cooler the rest of the week.
Crystle, hope you had a good weekend. We did lots around the house yesterday, grocery, cleaning, dog bathing, cleaned out closets, & laundry I am paying for it today. I am stiff & sore all over.
Mecee, Good luck on your project. I hate those kinds.
Saturday I was not dizzy at all. I was so excited. Yesterdya at the grocery I raised my arm to get somethng off the top shelf and got dizzy. I was so dissappointed. I thought it might be gone. Was not too dizzy the rest of the day. So I will see what work brings today. I have a crick on my shoulder, I must have slept on it wrong.
I really need you guys for motivation. You really help me so much. Thanks for always being here for me no matter what. You are so important to me. I love you guys.
Morning. I am moving slowly this morning. I woke up kind of early to the sound of rain and thunder. Tom was getting ready for work, and his exclamation while shaving when the power went out really woke me...along with the sudden stop to my positive air from my cpap machine! The power came back on rather quickly, but it kind of added an unwanted difference to the morning. I just finished making my morning espresso, and am sitting here sipping it. I already got a package of green coffee beans delivered by UPS this morning...he came EARLY. It was like 8:30 when he rang the doorbell.
The cat is freaking out because of the thunder. He is SO afraid during storms. He finally went out after going from door to door to try and find one that it was NOT raining out of! haha! I fully expect he is hiding in the garage, or under the deck.
SOLLY: I think the diabetes diet is more like weight watchers. I am not a fan. But that is because I am a diabetic and I know it doesn't work that well. SB is probably better. Why don't you just follow it? Or if you want to try something new, go take Mercola's nutritional typing test and follow his recommendations. We have been trying to incorporate his ideas for a few weeks and Tom says he is actually feeling much better. Another idea you might want to consider is reading Mark Hyman's UltraMetabolism. Tom followed his detox diet at the time I started eating Vegan, and even though he did not think he had much to lose he easily dropped 15. He is in better shape now than he has ever been in his life. With his running and eating right, the muscle definition is fantastic. He keeps teasing me that I need to paint a picture of him. I am considering it. haha!
TONI: I hope you are doing well. Have you tried making any Indian dishes yet? At the meeting I went to last night, as we discussed what to cook, I said I loved ethnic cooking and mentioned Chinese and Indian. The lady next to me made a horrible face which made everyone laugh. (this is the lady I have known for 30 years) Come to find out she does NOT like Indian! So it looks like no Indian cooking will be on the menu for that mentoring/cooking program! haha!
I think I have lunch plans today. And tomorrow. And maybe Friday. I have a doctor's appt. Wednesday afternoon and a hair appt. Thursday afternoon. Add small group tonight and covered dish on Wednesday...I know its not as busy as if I had a real job, but dang, I am already feeling the pressure!
Good late morning everyone. I think you all got the rain that we were supposed to get and the weatherman promised. It was a lazy week end. And I sort of wish I would have got busy with something. Today I need to get moving. One of the things I need to do is go to the grocery store today and the post office.
Solly- I can really understand where you are. I've been in a slump for so long now. And I don't know how to crawl out of this. You know how to lose, you're and expert on it after all these years. You've just got to get motivated and start off 1 day or 1 hour at a time. Each day will make you stronger. Set a mini goal for your self. YOU CAN DO THIS..... I'm so happy each day you get better. So make it a celebration new health and now new eating. End up this year on a high note.
Ellen- I've gotten so lazy with my cooking I haven't done the Indian dish yet but I will get to it. I've got everything to do it with. That cooking class sounds so wonderful. What a shame that lady doesn't like Indian food. I would run all the way to have someone teach me. I love different foods. My thing is I've gotten out of my love of cooking and just want to do something easy and quick. It makes such a difference. And of course in an old country town population 600 its hard to find stuff to cook with. Enough excuses. Hope you get to cook Chinese in that class. You can bring so much to the class.
