I had a friend call yesterday afternoon and ask if she could spend the night here. She was back in town for a doctor's appt. and did not want to drive the three hours home to Alabama in the rain. She took us out to dinner at a Thai place, which was fun. I got an order of basil rolls and a bowl of coconut soup. Not heavy on the veggies, but light and tasty. She and Tom got entrees. My blood sugar was not good this morning, which irritates me with having worked out an hour at water aerobics and eaten carefully all day.
I fired the kiln last night. It will probably be noon before its cool enough to open and unload. I need to get an oil change this morning...I hope I can find the coupon Tom gave me last week!....then run to the pottery supply place and get a few things I need to glaze stuff.
COUNTRY: Another two pounds?! Fantastic! You are just burning them off!
TONI: Turkey enchiladas sound wonderful! What a great way to use the leftovers! How is your cold? Better?
MERCEE: You are so right...we have so much to be thankful for! I picked a couple cards off the Angel Tree at church and it made me cry reading them...folks evicted and asking for Christmas presents for their kids of shoes, underwear and socks....broke my heart.
SOLLY: I know you feel like you are falling apart, but once you get through all this, you ought to be good for another 100k miles. A Bionic woman...you already are Super Woman! You do amazingly well with the things you are having to deal with. ((hugs)) Praying for good reports for you....
Country- Congrats on your 2 pound loss. Go Girl!!!
Ellen- The coconut soup probably did you in with your glucose. I hope your numbers return to normal soon. It is so amazing how food affects us so differently. My sister can't eat cantaloupe it sends her glucose soaring and it doesn't effect me at all. No matter how long you've had diabetes you still learn how food affects you only after you have eaten it. Stay encouraged things will turn around soon.
Solly- You are so amazing no matter what you go through you just keep on going. Youa re truly a tropper. Hope you feel better today.
Toni-I've never had turkey enchiladas. How were they?
Mercee, glad you had a great weekend. I am glad yoru friend has found happiness. I don't think anyone should be alone.
Crystle, how fun getting the tree. My DD & SIL cut a real tree every year. WTG on losing wt on the holidays. You rock Hope your back is all healed.
Toni, It is raining here today and it is so gloomy and dark. Good day to kick back. Your enchilladas sound good. Having burritos or tacos tonight.
Ellen, I know what you mean. We took and sister and brother from my DD's school. THey are very poor there. We do have so much. I love buying things for those who don't have anything.
Just got in from the back surgeon. They had lost my films, Grrrr. Now theyhave to get them from the MRI place. He is not sure what needs to be doe to my back, just cleaning it out or screws and rods. I had a flex xray to show more so we will see when he gets my scans and sees the xrays. I am shooting for Dec 27th.
Leg is still bothering me. Wish I would hear from the ortho doc to see when my appt is.
Woke up late and then had a hair appointment for a perm. I feel so much better with my curley hair back. Steve worked on my computer a bit this afternoon.
Solly- It was 32 and really cold and windy here today. We even saw a few snow flurries. Hope your taco's or burritos were good. Yum. Did you watch the Biggest Loser.
Its one thirty here. I just do not feel like going to bed! I glazed then loaded up the kiln and it just fired off, so I can go to bed with peace of mind. I do worry about it if I try to go to bed before it is off. It has an automatic turn off...it goes off when it reaches the proper temperature. Cool little gadget that is now obsolete with the computerized kilns. That will be my next big purchase...a new computerized kiln! Well, unless my wheel dies. And it might..its very old.
I spent too much time getting the oil changed. It took them three hours instead of the one and a quarter they said. I went for a walk around the big block while I waited. It took me about 30 minutes, and I estimate it was over a mile. I was not walking fast...and I got back to the place and into the waiting room inside just as a torrential downpour started. It rained and rained...we had a few tornadoes here too. Scary stuff!
I can't wait to open the kiln! Its like Christmas. If the stuff is all good, I may not rush to fire a second load. I am thinking the open house may not be well attended, and I hate knocking myself out for nothing.
Sweet dreams! I am going to try and get some sleep now!
MERCEE: It might have been the basil rolls as the wrappers are made from rice flour. I did not think of that! It is weird how different folks have different foods that they have to be careful with. Wheat and rice are not good for me. I avoid them as much as possible. Brown rice and whole wheat don't seem to help much at all! I will have to experiment with the coconut. It is high fat, but there is no sugar in it. I usually buy the light coconut milk when I use it... I have heard and read that fats contribute to insulin resistance. Have you noticed problems with fats?
Down a total of three pounds this week. First time that's happened in a looooong time.
Ellen...Hope everything came out wonderful. Also I hope you have a GREAT turn out and sell several items.
Toni...you'll have to share a picture of your new hair. It is funny how our hair makes us feel. I can hardly wait for mine to grow back out. Longer doesn't necessarily look better on me if you ask my family but I like it.
Solly...hope you get some positive feedback once they get the results in.
Mercee...I forget, do you live where it is very cold?
Afternoon ladies. Waiting on a guy to finish the bid so I can type it. I went to the ortho this morning. Why can't I catch a break? They tried to drain te Baker's cyst and it was gelled or thick and it would not drain. They gave me a cotisone shot so I hope it helps. She thinks it may be a knee problem like a torn miniscus (sp) and she did not see the fracture in my foot so next Tuesday at 6:00 am I am to have a MRI on my foot and leg. I'm ready to just shoot myself.
I weighed today, I was the same. I will take it.
Ellen, I hope the kiln turned out great and surely you will sell a lot of stuff Sunday.
Toni, Yum cornbread. My favorite. It snowed here all morning. Just big flakes. I don't think I finished the BL last night. I hd to go to bed. Should finish it tonight.
Crystle, you are the only one that has to like your hair. But I guess we tend to please our loved ones too.You are doing fabulous. Congrats on the 3 lbs.
Where is everybody? I got a new coat and new shoes from Lands end and neither fit right. So will have to return them today through the mail. I'm ordering a different coat and can't get the shoes small enough. And they're so cute. But I need a 5 1/2 and they're a 6. To bad they run big. Well guess my day will be spent in town. Post office, grocery store.
Solly- I can't believe you're going through this. You're a strong brave woman and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Did you finish BL last night? I couldn't believe who got voted off. Its getting to the end. Same with Survivor. I'm miss them when they're gone. Keeping an eye on ****'s kitchen too.
An uneventful day here. Sort of good for me. Not working tomorrow so that is even better. I lost my diamond stud (one of them) so hoping we can get it replaced tomorrow for my Christmas. Have to take the car for an oil change, fun things like that.
Saturday we are taking the baby to the Elks Club for a gift from Santa. DH is so excited. he loves to show him off. We will see how the whole Santa thing goes.
Toni, I didn't finish the BL last night. I guess I am going be be surprised. I hope it was Brandon. I don't like him. I want Patrick or Mark to win. Never watch Survivor since season 2. Don't know why. I think I just heard someone say it was snowing hard out there right now. Not ready for all of this. You have such a small foot. i wear and 8 1/2 or 9.
Mercee, Cyrstle, Ellen,
Ellen, Hope your craft sale goes well for you on Sunday.
Have a great weeend. I will try to get on but it may be a busy weekend.
This is the first time all day I have been able to sit down at the computer. I did a bunch of stuff today...glazed and loaded another kiln load of stuff and fired it. The last load turned out ok. No horrible disasters at least! I spent some time putting prices on pieces, wrapping them in bubble wrap and stuffing them in a box. I probably should have done an inventory but I felt too lazy. I ran up to Whole Foods this afternoon. I went for just a few items and about fainted when they rang it up. It came to $65!!! I don't like shopping there unless I need something I can't get elsewhere. That was the case today, and I picked up a few items there to save time. Argh. We had a meeting tonight and got in a few minutes ago. I will probably try and go to bed early tonight so I can get up and unload the kiln in the morning.
My back has been bothering me all day. I guess from all the work I have been doing. Bending over the wheel stresses the back muscles. Then lifting the kiln shelves, etc. etc. Ouch!
SOLLY: Oh, not another thing! Praying for you! I am praying you get some respite from all these 'things' you keep having to deal with.
TONI: I am sorry the stuff did not fit right. I hate having to send stuff back. I got a pair of black dress boots in the mail today, and I am so glad they fit ok!
COUNTRY: Wow! Three pounds is fabulous! I forgot to weigh...
MERCEE: Hope you are doing well. How is your weather? Did you get a lot of snow in those recent storms?
I just ran down to the garage to get a gallon of milk out of the spare fridge to make cheese spread for Sunday with. The kiln was cool enough to open and the top shelf looks good! One piece in particular, really is sweet! Its a small cup like bowl with a flower and leaf trim. The glaze is burgundy, and it breaks beautifully over texture. Each little flower is accentuated perfectly! It will make a lovely Christmas candy dish! I am looking forward to seeing the bottom shelf!
Still haven't weighed. Shame on me. I need to get out and walk today. My morning blood sugar has been better the last two mornings, but today was not as good as yesterday and the day before and I am certain it is because I did not get a long enough walk yesterday.
