Hi ladies,

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was relaxing. I took off Friday and spent the day at my DD's with the baby and in the pool. Yesterday we babysat and got in the pool. My youngest got home from vacation last night. I missed her and was glad to have her home.

Seems like this week is filled with dr appts and therapy. Have to eet with a neurosurgeon tomorrow to see about my back. I am not having surgery but wanted to get a second opinion.

Toni, I hope you got to keep things out of the garden for watching it for the people . Your breakfast sounds yummy. Wish I had time to do all that in the mornings.

Ellen, there is nothing worse than shopping for a car. I hate it. Hope you find one soon. Guess what. I went for the results of my sleep study. I stopped breathing 55 times in an hour and my oxygen was 84. He said 90 was the limit on oxygen. I am skipping the third level of sleep somehow and my brain just puts me in REM sleep. Since they did not get to wake me up and put a mask on me, I have to do the study again an start off with a mask. I couldn't believe it. He said I should be so tired and I have a lot to look forward to when I get a good ight's sleep. I still think it is a racket.

Crystle, you are doing so great with your walking. I am so proud of you. I have to get busy, you are going to get skinny without me. Keep up the good work. Don't you feel so much better?

Mercee, how's your trainer doing? Is he killing you?

Better get some work going here. I liked the 2 day work week. ha-ha.

Went for a walk. It was getting hot, so I walked fast so I could get home before it was TOO hot. I just made it! I think! Tomorrow, I will try and go earlier.

I am feeling melancholy today. Its my daughter's 29th birthday. I can't believe that was almost 30 years ago! So far, its been a weird day. I play a Scrabble like game with a few friends on my iPhone...well...one of my friends scored a 191 point word against me this morning! Seriously! Scores are usually around 350 to 400 for the winner, so it was quite a shock! NO way I am going to win this one. I am still not sure how she did it, and another friend of ours swears the scoring can be wonky sometimes...

SOLLY: I know sleep studies sound like a racket, but people don't usually go for one unless they are experiencing problems. I have heard of folks going and NOT getting a machine. You may notice some of your health issues improve with better sleep. Many folks spontaneously lose weight. Hopefully you caught it soon enough to be able to reverse any damage. I am afraid I did not. My oxygen levels dropped to the low 70's. The brain area that is damaged first by lack of oxygen is the area that controls blood pressure. My blood pressure has not improved much, but I really think the machine has helped me lose the weight I have lost. I do feel more rested, and don't fall asleep all the time now. So it IS helping...

Hello everyone. Put a loaf of honey wheat bread in the breadmaker. I don't bake it in there. Just do the dough in there. I have a wonderful cast iron pan to bake it in. Also put some tomatoes on a cookie sheet in the freezer. Chopped and froze some bell peppers. And had a banana, strawberry smoothie. So its been a busy day so far. Thawing out some tilipia for dinner.

Solly- I'll be thinking of you this week as you go through all your appointments. I hope the sleep study helps you.

Ellen- Good for you getting in a walk. Hope your day gets better.

More to do so off I go for now.

We had a horrific storm this afternoon! It rained from about 4:15 until after 7pm. We needed the rain badly! The lightening and thunder were something else though! WOW! The power went out and was off for five hours. Then it came back up for an hour and went out again! It just came back on. Whew! I was worrying about how I would be able to sleep without my autopap machine!

I cooked by candle light and a lantern tonight. Thankfully, I have a gas cooktop, so I just had to light the burners with a flame thing. I reheated a dal I had made on Saturday, and made some of my new favorite green beans...they are an Indian dish made with coconut, and absolutely delicious!

TONI: I am excited about the freezing tomatoes whole idea! I have a large bag in the freezer already and a bunch more to do. Its SO easy! I won't have to buy canned tomatoes for a while!

MERCEE: That is too bad that you have to go in to learn a new system on your week off! Yay YOU! Five days working out is inspirational!

SOLLY: When do you go in for your titration? (that is the tech term for figuring out the correct pressure for you with the cpap machine...I know I sound geeky! I just LOVE medical stuff though. Wish I had gone to med school or picked a medical field to go into to.) I hope it goes well.

Good morning ladies. I jut got in from yet another dr appt, this time with a neurosurgeon. I needed to get a second opinion on my disc issues. Surprisingly, he said my neck was worse (more erious) than my back. I have very little spinal fluid in my neck and 2 discs are pushing on my spinal cord. Which is not a good thing. If I have a car accident or fall I could be paralyzed from the neck down. He wants me to have the surgery to fix it. Simple where they go in from the front of the neck. Hardly no recovery time. I went in with the attitue I would never have surgery unless could not walk. Now this has scared me. I can't control a car accident. Need some time to think about it.

Mercee, wow 5 days is great, I am so jealous. Enjoy your week off. I hate learning new systems, especially at my age.

Ellen, I don't go for the sleep study, part 2 until the 18th of Aug. They were booked until then. Glad your power came back on. I wouldn't go so far as to cook by candles, I would eat out.

Toni, I can smell that bread from here. I haven't used my breadmaker for years. Tried to sell it in a yard sale, but no one wants them.

Off to eat some cherries, it is close to lunch and I am starving. That oatmeal didn't last long. Lunch is a spinach tortilla with buffalo chicken. Have a great day.

Not much going on today. Just had some almonds.

Solly- Thats awful about your neck. I sure wouldn't know what to do either. Its good the recovery time is short. I go awhile and don't use my breadmaker but then get back into it. The bread was sure good from it.

Ellen- I've got to bag up the tomatoes today. 5 hours without power is awful. That was good you made the best of it. Your veggies are beautiful on facebook.

Mercee- Enjoy your time off....

Default Howdy

Sorry I have been MIA lots going on. Plus I've been a tad of a moody rudey...getting over that. Hubby always blames the hormones. I keep telling him not yet. I'm happy to say I did walk both days so far this week. Not that I wanted to..it really has been a push. I even put in an extra five minutes today.

Solly...I am so sorry that you got a yucky report on your sleep study. My mom and sister both got bad test results on theirs. I'm not sure about my other sister. Praying that whatever you decide to do about your neck you will be comfortable and it will be what is best for you.
I'm not even close to your weight but I am trying to at least walk. And you did make me smile.

Ellen...candlelight dinner sounds nice even if it is because the lights are out. I'm so glad the freezing thing is working. I ordered a new book today that is all about putting up foods...freezing, canning, drying and even root cellars.

Toni...How did the bread turn out? It sounds yummy. I'm getting tired of the plain sourdough.

Mercee..hope you enjoy your time off this week. WTG with working out five days!!!

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Today is pool day and my grandson is downstairs watching Sesame Street...I hope he is not getting into any trouble!

I forgot to weigh. I will do so in a few...but since I already ate breakfast and had coffee it won't be 'accurate'.

Later!

SOLLY: Yikes on the neck issues! Best to get it fixed and not wait. What is the recovery like? You said hardly any? Are there risks involved? Is there a reason you have spine problems? Were you in an accident or injured in the past? Praying for you....

Morning Ladies:

I went to the DR. yesterday only to find out I have lost 3lbs since July 3rd. It may noe seem like much but I am excited. This week so far I am on track to work out 5 times. I have to admit I think I am getting Addicted.

Solly- Sorry to hear about your neck. Ihope you make the best deision for you. I will be praying for you.

Ellen- I'm glad your electrcity came on in time. I agree with Solly I would have eaten out. You sure are a trooper.

Toni- My girlfriend is a yard sale fanatic. She said everyone she goes to there are lots of breadmachines for sale. Most people told her after they got them they gained 10lbs so they had to get rid of them.LOL

Country-Great job getting that walking in.

Well ladies I am out of here. Tomorrow I am off to see the dietician. I am taking full advantage of my insurance benefits. Have a great day everyone.

Default Good afternoon

It is a miracle, I actually walked before 4 in the afternoon. The best part is I walked 42 minutes. I got in two miles under 32 minutes which is an improvement. I found I can walk 5 miles an hour before needing to jog. My daughter and I were talking about how fast before the need to run. She is shorter but real close in how fast. I think she said 4.8 or 4.6. Don't let me fool ya, I don't walk anywhere near that fast. I average 3.7. I change my speed a lot.
Yesterday I picked 13 pounds of okra. I was so surprised. Some was already woody and I set it aside for seeds. I have TONS of seeds if they don't mold before they dry out. I ended up putting up about 2 gallons of chopped okra in the freezer. I should look it again today but I'm going to wait until tomorrow. My belly is screamin' for some lunch. Probably because I had coffee milk for breakfast and basically a salad for dinner last night. Time to fuel the machine..LOL Almost forgot, looks like I lost nothing again this week. Will check again tomorrow and make it official.

Mercee...how neat you are have a dietitian. You'll have to let us know how that goes. Maybe you can get some tips that can help us all.

Toni..woo hoo on losing a pound!!!!!!

Ellen..hope you are enjoying that grand baby today.

Solly...hope you are feeling more encouraged today. ((hugzz))

Love and hugs,
Crystle

She is not going to be happy that I have not lost any weight Oh well, too much other things going on right now. I have pretty uch decided to do the neck suregery. But I have to wait on another test result. It may change everything.

Crystle, now that is one big okra! Hope your mood is improving. Good job on the walking. My ticker is way off so we are probley close.

Toni, congrats on your lb. Keep up the good work.

Ellen, no I was not in an accident, it is just degenerate disc problems, and genetics. Who knows for sure. I think it is one night in the hospital and I could come back to work on a Monday if done on a Friday.

Mercee, congrats on the 3 lbs. I guess that wt training is helping.

Have a great day got to run.

Pool day was a bit dull. Only one mom came. She arrived late. We had fun with her two kids, but I was surprised no one else showed up! My grandson fell off the diving board twice while we were swimming. He tripped over a noodle trying to straddle it like a hobby horse to jump in with. The second time, he hit his hip and cried and cried. I about drowned trying to get to him and get him safe. He was coughing and crying at the same time as he came up out of the water. The mom that was here is a pediatric nurse, so I was glad for that, and doubly glad we did not need her expertise. It was just a bad hit and he will have a nasty bruise.

SOLLY: Praying for you. Mercee is right..you are always encouraging others.

COUNTRY: Oh, I am SO jealous! I okra! I have a TON of great Indian recipes for it and next year, I am skipping the zucchini and putting in two rows of okra!
