How do you get your meatloaf tender using ground turkey? Mine is always rubbery, even when I put beef in with it. Sort of like chewing a pencil eraser!
Ellen - egad, hope you get your air working! My mom's went out last week (motor gave out) and she had her ceiling fans going so she said it helped. Hope you are not without it any longer!
Did I read somewhere that the doctors had changed their stance on carrots? I thought I saw something that said they were okay to eat raw, but cooking them boosted their sugar content.
Beets are (were) probably my favorite veggie - oh, well - I'll just have to find a new favorite! The further I go with this, the more I realize that I always gravitated toward the sweeter vegetables. Oh, the joys of sugar enlightenment, LOL!!
Stay cool! I have plenty of iced tea and lots of chairs to sit in the shade!!
Claire- My meatloaf wasn't tough but it was a little dry. Its not as good as one made with ground chuck. But it was yummy cause I try to stay away from allot of beef so it was kind of comfort food. Yes you can have carrots in moderation now at SB.
Waterbaby_ Welcome. Glad to have you here and looking forward to getting to know you.
Ellen- I agree thank God for your pool. I hope you get you ari fixed ASAP.. How is your vegan diet coming along? Has it helped to improve youryour glucose numbers?
Toni-I love ground turkey meatloaf I make it at least twice a month. Are you still walking?
Well I have to get back to work. When I get home I will hit the trail this eevning after it has cooled down a bit. My hubby is still walking with me. He teases me that I have hom walking a 5K 4 times a week. Have a great day everyone.
I have been somewhat productive despite the heat today. My son in law came by on his lunch hour and did part of the repair, but has to change some capacitators. Sounds like Star Trek to me, but thankfully he knows what he is doing. The house is hot as an oven though. I am going to go jump in the pool in a bit. I threw some bowls this morning, and vacuumed the upstairs. And I tried to take a nap. I think I slept a little while, but then the doorbell rang....
WATER: I am a diabetic. I have followed Sugarbusters for years, since before I was diagnosed. I started having trouble managing my glucose levels and started on a diet called Dr. Barnard's Program to Reverse Diabetes. (its a book) It has really helped me, and I am actually losing now, as before no matter what I did it never came off. I also started on a cpap machine for sleep apnea, which contributes to my success. My diet is essentially Sugarbusters, but Vegan. I do not eat any animal products. I thought it would be difficult, but its been really easy and I feel pretty good eating this way. I love Magnolias, by the way. We have a Big Leaf, Star, and Sweet Gum in addition to a huge Southern Magnolia.
MERCEE: Yes, the vegan diet has helped some! I am on lower doses of my meds, and still seeing my numbers come down. And the scale! Pretty exciting to me!
Well I've got nothing done today. Both DH and I have been lazy. Eating has been good so I'm happy.
Ellen- Did you get the air fixed? You've got to be miserable in the heat.
Mercee- Not getting in any walking I hope to tomorrow. Hope you and your DH got a nice walk in this evening. Its just to hot here and never seems to cool off.
Hi ladies, we have been busy and I am trying to catch up so I can go on vacation in 2 weeks.
We had a great weekend. Sunday we swam with the baby all day and then went to Outback for dinner. Nice.
Ellen, sure hope you get that air fixed soon. It must be miserable. At least you can jump in the ppol but it is probably not too refreshing, it has to be very warm with all thie hot temps. I go for my sleep study tomorrow night. I am not looking forward to it. I've not know anyone who has done it who has not needed the mask. We will see.
Toni, lazy days are good. I had a lazy night. Just didn't want to get out of the chair. I tried walking on the yesterday morning but it killed my left leg. Urgh!
Crystle, hope all is well with you. How is your great niece doing?
Waterbaby, Welcome, this is a great group. We have been friends for a long time. We loe to have new members. Sounds like you are on your way. Glad to see you are doing so well. Yes, carrots are legal now.
Mercee, glad to see your hubby is still walking. Men exagerate things so.
We are going to the lake for the weekend. I am excited to get away. Then next week we leave for Destin. Sure hope the oil holds off.
Good morning all..... I'm picking a friend up shortley to go out to lunch. Didn't eat breakfast to save my calories. Shame on me. I'm looking forward to a good visit.
Solly- Oh boy for a vacation. I'm sure you're so looking forward to it. Sounds like you had a great week end. I'm having trouble getting back on the treadmill.
Good morning, we have a bid today so thought I had better get on here while it was still slow.
I have my sleep study tonight. Not looking forward to it at all. I will definately be taking a sleeping pill for it.
Toni, we just paid a bunch of money for a treadmill and I can't seem to use it with my back. I need to try at night after I have been moving around on my leg. It is too painful in the mornings.
Crystle, Mercee, Waterbaby, Ellen, hope you are having a great day.
Howdy all..... Well I lost 3 lbs this week. I'd gained and I'm only 2 lbs. from my ticker weight. Hope I can have another week like I just did. I'm wanting so bad to get under the 190 mark. Need to think of something heathy for dinner.
Solly-Good luck on your sleep study. I hope it comes out okay. Thats such a shame about you walking on the treadmill. Don't work to hard today....
Well I survived the sleep study. Actually it wasn't as bad as I thought. I hade 25 wires attached to various points, 8 in my head. I think I got about 5 hours sleep. I was worried about falling sleep. Won't get any results for 3 weeks. I had to get an epidural in my neck this morning. My DH met me there so the dr could explain the results of my MRI. You can't make heads or tells out of those reports.
Toni, congrats on the 3 lb loss. That is fabulous. I wish I could do that.
Were is everyone???
We are off to the lake this evening, so have a great weekend everyone! Talk to you Monday.
Oh, just found out the oil hit Destin yesterday. Great. Maybe the restaurants won't be crowded. Guess we will spend out time in the pool.
Good morning everyone. Got a load of wash started and want to get it done fast so the dryer doesn't heat up the house even a little bit. LOL We didn't get a drop of rain last night like the weatherman said we would. We're in a dust bowl here. Eating has been good. Hope I can keep it up and get in a habit here. Now if I'd only get back on the treadmill.
Solly- I feel like we've been deserted. Where the heck are the ladies? Well anyway you got the sleep study done and thats great. Wonder why it takes so long to get results. When do you leave for vacation? Hope you have a great time. I'll miss you here for sure. Glad you got your shot. Ouch.....
Hello everyone! Been busy as usual, and not on the computer very much.
My son in law finished repairing the ac Monday afternoon about five and by morning, it was down to 74..MUCH better than the 91 it was Monday afternoon! I survived.
SOLLY: I am SO glad you went for the sleep study. Please don't be afraid of using the cpap machine. I can't tell you how grateful and happy I am with mine. I am so used to using it, I prefer to have it on even for naps. Today, I saw my sleep doctor for a follow up and he wrote me a script to keep the auto titrating machine I have been using. He also gave me a new, expensive mask that he got as a sample. I am looking forward to trying it out tonight.
TONI: I can understand why you don't feel like doing much! Its just too hot! I sure hope you get some rain. I was talking to my sister who lives in the Chicago area and she said they had a lot of flooding and the expressway by them was closed due to it. Maybe some of that rain ought to drift south...
MERCEE: Good for you keeping up that walking. I can totally relate to the weighing less often. I really should do that. I weigh too much and get discouraged.
WATER: Yes, carrots are ok. There was a flaw in how they did the tests, and when they redid them they found that carrots are not that high glycemic. Munch away! I love them as a quick snack in the afternoon. Peel and crunch!
Happy Friday everyone. Slept in late this morning. Getting back in the bad habit of staying up late. It caused me to cheat last night and I'm kicking myself this morning. Don't know what I'm going to do today other than try to stay cool.
Ellen- Are you busy with your pottery? Are you still on Etsy? So glad you're getting cool air now. Hows the car problem going? We've got our truck in the shop and it needs way more work than we thought.
