Default Good morning

Howdy ya'll. Down one pound this week. I know I should be happy but I'm working so hard and the results are so slow compared to last time. The only factor that I see that is different is being older. But I do thank God I'm not gaining.

I'm exercising five days a week. If I eat it or taste it it goes into the food journal.

Solly...hope you are feeling better.

Ellen...the brownies sound interesting. I think I'd like to try them if you can use real eggs.

Toni...praying for you this morning. Hope the test go well and quickly.

Mercee..praying for you too. Hope you feel better today.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

What a day. We left at 8:00 am and didn't get back till 8 that night. Glad though its all over. I had trouble with the chemical stress test and they had to give me nitro twice and oxygen. But I got it done and the rest of my tests too. The doctor said I'm the same so I'll take that for another year. So today is a day of rest. I'm still in my nightgown and have been lazy all day. Slept in till 11. LOL......

Solly- So sorry you're having such a hard time. I hope the dizziness goes away soon.

Crystle- A great big congratulations on the lb. loss. That's so good. Be proud of it. Your body is probably losing inches.

Oh boy I just ordered a new cookbook from Amazon. I can't wait till it gets here. Its 50 healthy Indian slow cooker recipes. I've been wanting to try some Indian food and I hope this is good and easy. Its supposed to be. We'll see. Hope it doesn't have a bunch of weird stuff I can't get. Its a beautiful day in the Ozarks. Eating hasn't been very good. Hope everyone is having a good week end.

TONI: Wish I had known you were interested in trying Indian stuff...that is about all I cook and I would be HAPPY to share recipes! As for weird stuff..if you need weird ingredients you can't find, PLEASE let me know. I have three or four very large, extensive Indian grocery stores near me and I would love to send you a care package! The spices I use the most are tumeric, black mustard seeds, cumin, coriander, and aseofitida, or hing. The hing you might not be able to find, but its cheap and comes in a small container so I could easily send you some. Other than the spices, most of the ingredients are quite normal, lentils, dry beans, rice....unless you want to get fancy, then there are odd vegetables, like bottle gourd, and tindora, and curry leaves. Let me know what you think of the book...I am going to have to check it out. Slow cooker recipes would be nice for busy days.

Hello all you Sugar Busters. Glad the horrible week end is over. It was bad for my eating and I couldn't seem to stop. I ate candy!!!! Lots of it and am glad to start a new week and a new day. I think I got some sweets some where and it started a binge.

Ellen- Thank you so much. I was hoping I could get the spices somewhere. I've never had Indian food and can't wait to try it. It always sounds so wonderful. Wish we had places around here to shop but that would be a miracle in our little back woods.

Mercee- Glad you're feeling better. But don't hurry it up.

Solly- Hope you're doing okay.

Crystle- How was the week end?

I am SO proud of myself! The aquatic center was closed last week for the end of the outdoor season cleaning and maintenance. So this morning, I called and found out the new schedule. I suited up and went to the 10am class. I am really excited too! This year they are offering a 10 am class M-Th! Last year it was only M and W. I plan to try and go four days a week. Its only $2 a class, and so close....

I got home, and I am still wandering around in my 'cover up'. I cleaned the kitchen, read the last chapter in my book for small group tonight...excellent book called Prodigal God, I have really enjoyed it... and now I need to wander down and set up my palette and begin working on my commissioned painting. I did the underpainting last night...it doesn't look good, but then it never does to me! lol

TONI: Next time you go to Wal Mart, check in the ethnic aisle for Indian groceries. Mine has a fairly good selection of stuff. See if you can find any jars of different kinds of curry pastes with the brand name Patak. Their label is deep pink. I really like the Tikka Masala, or even just plain Tikka pastes. Their mild curry paste is good too. If you like hot spicy stuff, the Vindaloo and Garam Masala are good. Most of them you use by mixing with a little plain yogurt and marinating the meat in it. Then it is sauteed, usually with onions and tomatoes, and served over rice. If you can find a Tandoori paste, you use that with yogurt too, and then you can grill pieces of chicken, fish, or lamb or pork...

MERCEE: I am glad you are better. Thanks for the compliment...I do LOVE to cook! I used to cater too. I don't know why, but authentic ethnic cooking has always intrigued me. I don't think I will ever be able to travel internationally, so ethnic cooking is kind of my 'poor man' travel method!

SOLLY: I hope you are doing well. Thinking and praying for you....

COUNTRY: Keep at me on the exercise...I need someone to boot my hiney into gear here....I am SO lazy.... Do you want the quinoa brownie recipe? You can use real eggs if you want. I just don't because I am supposed to avoid them.

Off to paint!

Default Howdeeeeee

Good afternoon ya'll. I'm sitting here eating my lunch so of course I thought of ya'll. Lunch today is red bell pepper, onion, jalapeno in an egg/egg white omelet with some salsa on the top. I'm trying to put my fork down between bites but I waited too long to eat and I almost inhaled the first half. But I"m eating slower now, my fingers are busy on the keyboard.

Okay I know I'm not breaking any world records but I am SO happy with my new personal bests this morning. I walked/jogged a mile in right at 13 minutes. And the best part is I jogged for 2 minutes straight once. I was a dripping soggy mess when I got done. I didn't realize it was 92 outside. I'm glad I was in the shade of the back porch but it was still really really hot.

Ellen...I would love the recipe. I have two bags of quinoa and my guys don't really like it. So if I can use it another way that would be GREAT. Awesome on your aquatic center being open more. I know you love the pool. Every day if you think about not doing it just remember: that crazy girl in Texas is gonna ask if I did my workout..LOL

Toni...hey you! ((hugzz)) Is all that mean old candy gone? It is alright today is a new day, fresh and beautiful. You got this. We all have moments but it is the overall picture that counts. You have been keeping on keeping on and that is all we can ask of ourselves.

Mercee...thanks for much for the encouragement. I'm glad you are feeling better.

Solly...hope you enjoyed your party and all is getting better.

Better get and accomplish something. I've been at SparkPeople most of the afternoon.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Default Ut oh...twice in one day

Howdy, just poppin' in for a quick post. I left SparkPeople today hoping I can devote more time to this board. Hope I made a wise choice. I'm still going to track my food and exercise just not at that site. It is scary in a way since I was making progress. But I know it is not the site, it is God and the effort I've been putting in.

Holler at ya'll later.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

We had small group tonight. I checked my blood sugar levels as I was cooking dinner while waiting on Tom to get home and they were astronomical! I don't understand why, and that really frustrates me. So I ate a very small dinner, with only about 1/4 cup of brown basmati rice, and I am hoping it starts to turn around tomorrow. I ate beans for lunch...with no fat, and no rice, so I hope that will help too. The exercise SHOULD help, which is why I am frustrated that it went up a lot instead of down.

I am sore from the work out this morning. I will see how I feel in the morning, but unless I am dying, I will probably go to class again. I need to make it a habit.

I went to bed late last night and I am really tired now, so I am going to head to bed soon.

Good night!

Default Ellen

Sorry that your levels are crazy high. Are you coming down with a cold or fighting allergies? Do you drink coffee? Are you in a lot of pain? Those are some of the things that raise my mom's and sister's sugar. Praying it was just a fluke and goes back to a healthy level.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Thanks, Crystle! I have noticed my levels rise when I am sick, and I am a bit congested, but nothing to account for the increase. I DO drink coffee...which is something to think about. I roast my own beans, and so we use different kinds all the time. It may have an influence. I really appreciate the prayers...mine are for wisdom, so I can figure out what is causing it and what to do to solve it. I know the doctor is going to start pushing insulin at me again, and I really don't think that is the answer....
So, in light of that, I am about to suit up and head out to water aerobics again today. Even if it raises the levels, I know in the long run its going to help!

Well finally started walking a bit yesterday. Just to the end of our long driveway and back again. Which is good for me. I hope to build up some motivation.

Ellen- I think we're going to Wal Mart tomorrow and will check what they have. Love the sound of the marinade. Can you use it on chicken as well as beef. I can't even imagine how good it would be to get a handle on my illness like you do and fix what is right and healthy for me. You're such a good role model to what to do for a chronic illness. You're always searching for the answer.

Crystle- You are doing so well. Keep up the good work. You really seem to have a handle on the eating and exercise.

Solly- Hope you are getting better everyday. Miss your posts.

Mercee- Hows the work and exercise going?

Default Good morning

One of my typing fingers is out of commission. I grabbed an open can last night and sliced the tip of my finger. Talk about feeling like a goober.

Today's walk/jog went really well. I made a new record: 12 min. 30 sec. for the first miles. The rest of the week I'll just walk or do videos.

Gonna work on find us some tips to share again. I know we know most of them already but it is good to see them and have them reinforced.

Toni...WTG don't ever sell yourself short. Getting out and getting moving is a start and a great one. Having health issues makes it more of a challenge.
Thanks for all your encouragement. I could not do this with out ya'll. Some days are such a challenge.

Ellen..WOO HOO getting to the water aerobics! Hope you are having a better sugar day today.

Solly...hope all is well and you are just not here because you are resting. Really miss ya.

Mercee...hope you too are having a good day and not working too hard.

Running...if you are still here lurking pop in and say howdy.

Love and hugs,
Crystle
