Woohoo on graduating AngelicFruitCake and MamaBear! Great job ladies.

I am so disappointed I haven't been able to run the last couple days. I got a wicked nasty infection ended up at urgent care and have 4 prescriptions. I feel sick as a dog with a fever, no appetite, and I even called in to work which I NEVER do. I really want to be running and don't want to lose all my progress I've made I'm hoping I will feel good enough my Saturday or Sunday to pick it back up. In the meantime I'm forcing myself to at least eat at least a little something since I have zero appetite. This had better end soon I need to get back to my runs!

Grats mamabear272 and Angelic Fruitcake on graduating - that's awesome!!

Oo, I hadn't heard of a 5k Improver...where did you find that, basementcat?

Aw, TraumaNurse, take care of yourself first! The running will be there when you're up to it, I promise. You won't lose much condition in just a few days. Maybe try to get a bit of walking in for now, if you feel like it? Hope this passes quickly for you.

I just didn't feel much like exercising today; I was supposed to do two 10 minute intervals but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. The temperatures are climbing this week, so walking and running will be after sundown - that's fine, I've got a flashlight! Until tomorrow - happy running, all!

I hope you feel better soon! I took three weeks off because of an injury at week 8 and I was able to pick right back up where I had stopped. The first 28 minutes run was had but I was able to do it.

I'll have to check it out! I plan on doing the 5k to 10k program. It has tempo runs and fast runs so I hope it'll help me improve both my speed and endurance.

Woohoo! Looks like everyone is doing an AWESOME job! I've been MIA due to...well, laziness! LOL! My car was in the shop all week, and I used it as an excuse to do hardly anything.

But yesterday I got back in the groove and finished W7D2! Woot! I was able to do it fairly easily, but I think I would have felt better without such a huge break. I definitely missed it, which is something I thought I would never say about running! I feel like I'm getting to the point where I can push push push to go faster, and then slow down to a jog to slow down my heart rate. Before even if I jogged my heart rate would sky rocket and I would have to walk to calm it down.

Hope everyone is doing well and it feels good to be back

I just started the 5K to 10K program tonight. I hope you all don't mind that I'm posting about it here.

Day 1 of each week is a short run, so tonight was only 20 minutes. And I think it's so funny that I now consider a 20 minute run a short run

Angelic Fruitcake - I'd personally love to hear about your progress with the 5K to 10K program. Post away! And that's awesome that a 20 minute run is now "short!"

100Mother - Good job getting back into the groove!

basementcat - Thanks, I'll look into that. I must be the only person without a smartphone though! I'm so retro, I actually use a stopwatch.

Finally got my rear in gear today and did W6D2. It's so darn hot this week; I wanted to do it last night after the sun set but got busy and then it was too late. So I managed to get to bed somewhat early and got up to do it before the temps were unbearable. Next are 22 min, 25 min, 28 min and 30 min runs - and I'm looking at them, thinking "yeah, I can do that" - how cool is that?!

It's so motivating to read that some of you have finished the program! Angelic Fruitcake I would also love to read your progress with the 5k to 10k program. My last 'real run' was a month ago. I did 4.5k. I had been sick for a week at that point but powered through it. I got worse and ended up with a puffer and prescription for a chest and sinus infection. Needless to say I was unable to run during that. I'm nearly better now and decided to try a run this morning. It was very discouraging. I ran less than 1.5k before I had to stop and walk. I did 2.5k total but walked almost 1k of it. My pace is still good. My legs felt great. My body was happy to be out there but my lungs were just not cooperating. I know it will get better I just needed to vent about it I suppose. Truly though, reading about all of you who are doing so well is hugely motivating and to those of you who have injuries or illnesses holding you back at the moment...we will get there!

Hey guys just checking in. I'm on day two of no running and it sucks! My shins are just killing me so I know I probably shouldn't be running. I have an appointment with a sports medicine specialist tomorrow morning to check for stress fractures and see what else is going on. I hope to god it's nothing serious! But still hoping its SOMETHING they can help me with. The pain has been so bad these past few days that my shins throb even when I'm sitting down.

W6D3 done. I need to get to it earlier though, it's already hot here by 9 am - ugh.

Lotra91, I was wondering where you were. Sorry to hear about your shins, that sucks. Hope you get good news from the doctor.

Hlthgrl, sounds like your poor lungs really took a beating. Take care of yourself and work back to it easy - like you noticed, your muscles won't lose condition very fast.

Junebug37, hope your runs are going well!

Well, I'm not allowed to run for 2 weeks and I have physical therapy for the next 6 weeks. Thank god it's not stress fractures! But apparently I'm at high risk for them. This sucks! The old me would've taken this as an excuse to stop running but new me is not giving up!
