Hi everyone..its a beautiful day here.. very sunny and springy i am feeling very much better and even went to curves today..im alittle sore but it went well.. then went to a stamping scrapbooking store thats going out of business to see what bargains i could find..and did get a few things but even on sale they where priced a bit high one of things i learned in that class that id like to share as it worked for me is i always crave fresh fruit but was afraid to eat it cuz of the sugar..well the instucter said to eat some portioned controlled of course but to pair it with a fatty food..it slows the absorbtion of the sugars and lets ine insulin deal with it better.. so ive been eating a little cheese with my fruit and it seems to be working..as before any fruit sent my sugars sky high..who knew ..congrats on your loss angie thats awsome..wonder where all the others have gone that used to post here.. i miss them anyways were here right rosetta..have agreat weekend everyone(((((((((hugs))))))) rosey

Post Had a hard time fighting cravings

I was really tried today. I wanted chocolate real bad. But I held out and did not eat the chocolate. I finally have a day off tomorrow. Heaven to sleep in Well I guess I will go for now. Have a good day and bless ya'all! Angie

What a greast weekend it was. I took Friday off with my husband to work on the trucks for the big off road event later this month. Sat we went to see The Pacifier with the kids, and yesterday we went to the park for a few hours with the dog and kids, got lots of exercise with them. Now I am here at work.
Angie, don't complain about losing weight without trying. I have come to the conclusion that if you have to try really hard (minus the cravings) then you are doing something wrong. My nutritionist changes little things every 3 weeks & I have been dropping weight without trying. It was the fad diets that were killing me. As soon as I got it in my head that I could not have carbs, that was the first thing I wanted. Slow & steady does it.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi, all. Yes, Rosey, I wonder where all our posters have gone. Some will come back when they can. In the meantime, we're here. That's interesting about the fatty food and fruit. I have been doing this accidentally, having a piece of string cheese with my later afternoon apple! At least I'm doing something right. Glad you're getting back to Curves.
Good for you, Angie, for resisting the chocolate craving. These little victories add up and strenghthen our resolve.
Heidi, you have found the right program for you and it sounds like it's working.
I'm in pretty desparate straights right now. Can't get under control. I'm waiting for the HMO to tell me whether I can get into the medical fasting program. I should know this week.

Hi everyone,

I posted once before but tend to do more reading than posting. I have decided to really try to get back on plan this month and so far have been successful. I have been eating right and exercising and it really feels good.
It shows up on my bs numbers too -- that's a good thing!

I was told to have a little protein with the fruit -- I guess that would be cheese or peanut butter.

Well have a good night and hope to be able to keep posting -- it really helps to keep me accountable.

Hi, Mrs. B. Welcome back. The thread's been a little slow lately. Guess everyone's busy with spring things. Glad your blood sugar is down. That's the most important thing for all of us. Mine isn't too bad with all the medication I'm taking. It would be better if I could get back OP.

Talking what to eat

I found out about two months ago that I was and I had a hard time knowing what to eat. I bought me a diabetic cook book and that helped alot. I also watch my portions, and my carbs and sugars. There are alot of sugar free items at the grocer you just have to look cause they are all over the place. I hope things go well for you I have my sugar down to 125 right now and have lost 14 lbs. Hi, everyone. Welcome Glen. Sorry you're diabetic. If you can, you might want to find a nurse educator and/or dietician to help you manage your diabetes. Along with avoiding sweetened drinks like soda pop you should also void drinking fruit juice because it contains a heavy concentration of sugar. According to Dr. Andrew Weil, the best fruits for diabetics to eat are low glycemic fruits such as an average size apple, a pear, cherries and a plum. Bananas and pineapples are a little higher on the glycemic index but are okay once in awhile. There are lots of books on managing diabetes. Your local library probably has a good supply.

Hi, Angie. Hope your weigh-in goes well. Glen, did your doctor give you some tips for managing your diabetes? check out DrWeil.com. He has some good tips about what to eat when you're diabetic. Carol - glad your sugars are getting in better control.
I'm not doing to well. Sugars are okay but they would be better if I would eat properly. Still trying to get back OP. Should know soon about whether I can get into the fasting program. Once that decision comes down I will either be fasting or working out a program on my own.
