Hi, Rosey. Where is everyone? They must be getting into Spring, I guess. It's gotten sunny here, too, although still a slight chill, which I'm happy for. Well, I did manage to stay OP today for the first time in months. I have to go for my annual physical next week so I'll feel better at the weigh-in if I know I've made some kind of effort. Oh, if only I could lose 50 lbs in a week.

Hi, Rosey, looks like you and I are the only ones posting lately. Where is everybody anyhow? I'll PM you about the Glucophage question. We have spring here too. It's foggy in the a.m. then it burns off and it's a pleasant day. The Spring Equinox is March 20 - only a week or so away. (I actually prefer winter - but then I don't have to trudge through snow.)

Hi Rosey - everybody but us seems to have disappeared. Congrats on your bingo win! I'm sure you'll find use for the extra cash. Glad you're getting Spring now. We had a super hot day on Friday (81 degrees) then it cooled down to 60 something with drizzly fog on Saturday. Today is sunny but windy and cool. Fine with me. I've been OP for a week now (well, I fell off a little this weekend). Have lost most of the weight I put on during the holidays. My blood sugars have been very good today for some reason. I've never had anything like a 90 in the a.m. Yay! How's your program going?

Hi, Rosey. Looks like it's still just you and me posting. Deb -- how are things going? We miss you. Everybody else, too. My sugars are still low (for me). I wouldn't worry too much about a 171, especially in the a.m. If it goes over 200, then that's a problem. I cheated a little today, but not too badly, so I consider myself still OP. I have sleep problems so I'm always so tired. That's my excuse for not exercising. I know if I start moving more I'll lose more weight and be able to stay OP for longer. Have a good evening.

Hi there, just popped in to say Hi!

Has anyone tried the herbal substitutes for type 2?
I am trying one but want to see if it's the best one for me.
I got mad one day and just tried it. My ins no longer pays for zantac 150 so i tried the thery that I didn't have enough acid and take a small spoon of wine vinegar each morning and no problems except the day I ate too much chili then I took a sugar free tums.
I took my pills one day and I had been stressed and not checked my BP or sugar. I ate then got a little dizzy -figured my sugar spiked so thought-I'll work it off. Got worse. Decided i'd better check it. Sugar 238-made sense. thought-I check My BP while I'm here-90 over 46. I sat on my butt the rest of the day. I had gone from 3 pills a day to 1/2 over several years by eating better. I have only taked 1/2 and 1/4 a pill once since. It is staying pretty normal.
My face is no longer bloated, my weight is slowly moving in the right direction, I check stuff often and my sugar is better too as long as I closly watch what I eat. I quit relying on the pill to control my numbers, I didn't controll my eating as much before either.
I know I should talk to my doc but wanted to try it first. I think I took my sugar about 8 or 10 times that first day.

Hi, Oldwriter. I'm not sure what herbal supplements you're talking about. I know there's some that are recommended by Dr. Weil, but I would rather stay with the prescribed medication. Cutting back on diabetes drugs can happen if you eat and exercise correctly. I haven't reached that point yet. You should probably check with your doctor and show him your blood sugar record as well. I know all about insurance companies stopping coverage of drugs, but they usually have an alternative for things like Zantac. Again, I would check with the doc.

Hi everyone. Well just a note to let everyone know I'm still around havn't had time too read or post lately. Little Wesley is still in the hospital and I've been useing some of my vacation to stay close to Houston. As for my weight it's just kind of holding. Not eating on any plan right now just trying to make the best choices I can while eating around the hospital. My readings have been a little high but not so much as to be alarming. Hope everyone is doing well and I hope to be back in the mix real soon. And Happy St. Patty's Day.

Deb - great to hear from you. Sorry the babe is still in the hospital. I hope he goes home soon. It must be very stressful for you. But at least you're making the best eating choices and maintaining. I've been mostly OP for about 10 days. Am now only 2 lbs away from my signature weight loss. A little off program today to celebrate my doctor's visit. All my labs are good and my AIC was 5.9! Whopee. All those pills are doing their job. Hi Rosey, how are ya?

Hi, Rosey. I bet an Alaskan spring is beautiful. I thought of you when I was watching Househunters on HGTV last night. They were looking a very upscale houses in Anchorage with magnificent wilderness views. I bet you get a lot of different birds up there. The only birds outside my apartment are pigeons and mourning doves that cry every morning at dawn. I can't believe that scale at curves. 15 lbs! I have an ancient bathroom scale that keeps accurate weight even though I weigh more than the maximum. (It just starts back at the beginning and I add that on) Amazingly, the weight is the same as my doctor's scale! and I only paid $3.00 for it at Woolworths in 1964! Anyhoo, congratulations on that 23#. WTG girl.
