New Years Resolution #5

Hello All,

Ok...I am presently checking off my New Years Resolution list and now I am on #5....my health. I need to really get my diabetes under control. So since I have checked off the other four items on my list (which were major) I hope #5 does not ruin my track record. Well wish me luck...it's now 1:24 am on Monday and I will be getting started on #5 in 8 hours.

hello ladies,
it's another glorious day today. sunny but cold.

emmi49 thought you might like to know your diet traker is not showing.

it's another week and i have lost another 4lbs. hallellujah! it's hard work but it is worth it to see the scale going in the right direction. iI FEEL GOOD!! still working on getting in plenty of water, getting the blood sugar levels down. had a couple of 130s and 120s. YES it's going to get better. the healthier i get the better they will get. i know it. still checking with other ladies in forum. even though i don't get any feed back anymore. it was like once i was new i got messages from people now that i have been here awhile i guess you just chat weather any one chats back is another matter. have got a little bit of walking not much. i wasn't doing any before. so something is better than nothing. RIGHT? have a great day. see you on the flip side.
kind regards,
mary

Cool

Tae - welcome to our thread. We are all trying to get and keep our blood sugar under control so keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Rosey - sorry about your stress. I hope whatever is causing it is resolved. It's a good idea to keep a food journal. Sometimes we eat something but don't realize it. Even a bite of something -- like a donut hole (oops I had one today) -- can cause a change in blood sugar. And yes -- reading labels is very important -- it's amazing what they put sugar in these days. Here's some hugs until your grandkiddies get there.

Mary - congruatulations on another 4 lbs. WTG! Your blood sugars are much better than mine. My morning#s are in the 140s and 150s. As far as responding personally, I don't know if you're talking about this thread or other threads. I notice that when I post on other threads, sometimes people overlook what I've said. It's nothing personal, I don't think. Also, I follow several threads and I've noticed they are slow lately. I think it runs in cycles. And as Rosey said, sometimes we have nothing particular to say so we just read and not post. Anyway, keep posting here. We do pay attention.

Hi all! Busy day, so not much time for a chat. Everything is pretty much the same with me - still running 3 days per week, but I'm in a horrible food rut. And, I'm burning out on my current low carb selections. Time for change, I just can't think of anything low carb that doesn't make me think, "yuck".

Have a great day everyone!

Hi K. Low carbs or low fat can be boring. Since you're doing all that running you can probably afford to add some healthy carbs to your diet - maybe even a chocoloate truffle!
Rosey - I'm sorry you've had to adjust to a lower income. That can be very distressing. You're going to have to find something for hubby to do so he's not underfoot all the time. Does he have an outside hobby? Maybe when the weather clears up. In the meantime, enjoy your grandkids visit.

I'm taking tomorrow off to celebrate my birthday. Maybe see a movie or something. A little champagne too. Then there's the celebrity super bowl on Sunday - yes, the Oscars. No way can I be OP through all that. So, come Monday, I'm getting serious. I'm just about fed up with myself and want to get back on track.

Happy weekend all.

Rosetta: Yeah, I think you're right and I have upped my good carb level a little bit, which is helping with the food blahs. The scale is even starting to be more of a friend this week too. It's about time.

Rosey: Good idea to in signing up for the class. We all need a little refresher every now and then. Have you started skipping the snack in the evening thinking it will make your reading higher? For me, actually having the snack at night is helpful in my reads in the morning. I've also noticed that now that I get up earlier, my morning reads are almost always good, around 100 - 110. Not that I'm advocating that. If I could sleep longer I definitely would. Just interesting, as my reads on the days I sleep in are higher than that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi all just a quick note to let everyone know I didn't fall off the face of the earth. Grandbaby is still in NICU at Childrens in Houston and I've been pulling some night shifts. So I'm keeping interstate 10 hot and I wish I had stock in Exxon. My numbers have been running a tad high, not eating as well as I should. It's a grab what you can kind of thing, and the stress hasn't helped. So I'm sure to have alot of bad habits to break after this is all over.
But we do what we must. And I'm hoping this will be over soon. Congrats to all the losers. Keep notes I'll need plenty of advice soon.
group hug

Hi, all. I had a nice birthday weekend but pigged out. Have been trying to get back on track but can't seem to . (see my post on Depression & weight Loss Thread). Anyway, I'm hoping to get back my motivation soon.
Love, glad your readings a lower. I get up early during the week and late during the weekends but I don't see a difference. My readings are usually 140s and 150s. I think it has more to do with the type of food you're eating. When I was on program my readings were much better. Sigh.
Pat - sorry about all the illness. There's a lot of sickies around me at work and I'm trying to avoid getting anything, especially since I didn't get a flu shot this year. Is your back better now? Hope you've mastered your new hairdo. I've gotten mine cut short so I don't have to mess with it.
Rosey - glad you had a good weekend. hope you've only got the one-day bug.
Deb - whew? you are going through a lot! I hope little Wesley James gets to go home soon. Everybody needs a rest. Keep in touch when you can.

Thumbs up

Hello to all! I'm Jeanne and have been a diabetic for almost 20 years. I have not been taking good care of myself, so for New Years I deceided to finally take control and get on track with getting my weight down and better control of my sugars. My last glyco was 8.1 way to high. I started the second week of January at 256lbs and as of today am 240. I've noticed that my sugars are getting better too. What I need help with is the damn excerise(should be a four letter word). I guess what I'm looking for is some support form people going through the same thing. Looking forward to hearing from any of you.

Cool

Hi Jeanne. Welcome to our thread. Congratulations on your weight loss. You should see a real improvement on your A1C the next time. Are you taking any meds? If you can get your sugars down without them you're better off. Yeh, exercise is a pain. I've had some orthopedic problems so exercise has been difficult to me. But I am walking more now and will try to get more organized about that. One person, Rosey, goes to Curves regularly and she is doing well. We look forward to your posts.
