  • Well, I am insulin dependent so the majority of the time...I just take an insulin shot. I notice when I exercise more, I do not require as much insulin. I'm sure you all know about foods to avoid and that kind of stuff.

  • Hi everyone. Boy this group is really starting to grow. I can't keep up with everyone. But glad all the newbies are here.
Rosey glad to hear your still with us. It's going to be in the high 60's today here in the south. I'll be sending warm thought's your way. And I'll be sure to try the salad it sounds great. And the low cal wrap maybe just what I need for an easy lunch.
Rosetta glad to hear your getting back in the groove. You go girl.
So far the weekend went OK I stayed pretty close to plan, even at the shower. Lots of salad. The word from docs on Baby is we won't make it full term. There seems to be some complications going on but it's hard to tell just what we are looking at just yet. But we are all staying positive and getting ready for the new arrival. Could be any day now.
Craftymom glad you joined us. We are never too busy for 1 more.
Love your doing great. Keep up the momentum.

  • Good morning all! I made it mostly OP all weekend. I let myself have a little break last night, but not bad. I got up yesterday a.m. and ran 5.5 miles, which is the most I have ever run in one stretch. That was a full hour of running! I even felt like I could have gone further, but the treadmills at the gym shut off after 60 minutes. I guess I could have restarted, but decided that was enough for one day.

My blood sugar was a little up and down on Saturday, and I still don't quite know why. It really wiped me out though. I've been fine ever since. Very odd.

Hope everyone has a great OP day!

  • Hi all.
Mary - welcome to our thread. We're all trying to lose weight and keep our blood sugars down so join on in and let us know how you're doing.
Rosey - I think I'll have a hummous wrap for lunch tomorrow. heh heh
Love2c - a full hour of running and you wanted to run more! That tires me out just reading it. WTG
Mel - most of us know what foods to avoid, it's just difficulty avoiding them most of the time That's why we're here to help each other.
Deb - Still sending good thoughts for the babe. Glad the shower went okay and that you stayed OP.
Pat - Can you clarify what you meant by the drinking comment? Do you mean water or alcohol?
Well, despite my intentions I was terrible over the weekend. Put on two more lbs as of Saturday. However, managed to stay mostly OP today. Stocked up the office fridge with Slim Fasts.
  • Hi all--

Tough day---ate some chocolate---too stressed. But I still have managed to drop 11 lbs! LOVE: I was exhausted after 15 minutes of dance class! DEB: I'm sure that little GB is going to be perfect! Glad the shower went well. PAT: Watch out for that flu---it's a doosy! And for the record---I LOVE Hummus!! I use it as a dip with baby carrots for a snack as well as pita sandwich. Also--I don't know if you were talking about water or alcohol, but water is fine--just don't overdo or you can become overloaded and dilute your electrolytes (sodium, etc). Alcohol--however--depletes the body of nutrients--which is why drunks get a "banana" bag (electrolytes and multivites) when they come to the hospital. (I'm an RN) Rosetta: I actually gained weight with the Slim Fast. Be careful--it has a LOT of corn syrup and Lactose. Having better luck with the Glucerna and Choice DM meal shakes (Although the strawberry Choice is yuck!)

    Here's to a great week!

  • cA Deb - Congrats on the 11lbs! A little chocolate now and then is good for the soul. Just work it into your program.
Pat - You drink an awful lot of liquid. You might want to cut back on the cokes, though. I don't drink as much water as I should, mostly because I'll end up in the bathroom all day. I already go a lot as it is. Hope you're staying warm.
Rosey, how's it going at Curves?
  • Hi all
Hi all, thought I better check in haven't been here for about a week!

I have a question how can you keep track of everyone here? Is there a way to open another window while reading the posts and posting if you know what i mean?

My fbs have been averaging 170, I am working on getting them down, just went to the doc and he doesn't want to change meds yet. Since, I have been watching what I eat and exercising daily he wants me to do a fbs in the morning a bs before dinner and one before bedtime and than we will take it from there. Today, I was doing a tough pilates workout and had an all time low 50's and got really shakey. I had my glucose pills and popped 3 right away it took awhile but it went back up. What a scary feeling? I realized that I had only had some carrots at 10:30 am so now I am going to have to fit a snack in better than carrots any suggestions?

Well, got to hit the hay, early morning tomorrow...talk to you all later. emmi

ps nevermind about the first part of post ...i feel like an idot , i scrolled down and there you all were....duh!
  • Hello everyone,
I thought I would join you all -- if you don't mind. I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes in July of 2003. When I first found out I decided I would do everything the way I was supposed to and I did great. I lost almost 45 pounds and my numbers were great -- my doctor said that I was a model patient. Well, since then I have completely fallen off program with both eating and exercise and have gained back appox. 30 pounds. My numbers are still good which makes it hard to get back on track. I just recently went for a checkup and my dr. said that I really need to start watching what I'm doing because when I finally see the results of not taking care of myself it's going to be to late -- the damage will already be done.

So maybe if I keep checking in here, I'll get motivated and start taking care of myself. Oh by the way, I'm also a stay at home mom to an 11yr.old son. I have a very supportive hubby and 2 maine coon kittens.

I'm open to all suggestions and any encouragement you can all give and I will try to give the same back.
  • Hi, all. Emmi - low blood sugar is pretty scary. Happened to me once and I scarfed down a candybar. Not the best choice, but that was the fastest and easiest at the time. I've always been told to eat something before exercise. Maybe try a piece of fruit or a half sandwich. I take medication and my bs is high in the a.m. (140-170) but lower (105-120) the rest of the day. I hope you find a way to get yours down.

Mrs. B - welcome to our thread. It's good that your sugars are down. Some of us have complications and its pretty unsettling. It's very hard to stay on track sometimes but keep posting here. We're here to encourage each other.
  • GOOD MORNING Well I know I've been a little hit and miss here lately but life happens. So far we still have the bun in the oven but only for a few more days. Dr. is doing EKG on baby today and have set up to take it on Monday. Which just happens to be my anniversary. So we are going to be having a happy day.

Been a little hit and miss as far as staying OP all this time on the road between home and Texas has made meals a grab what you can affair. But trying to make the best choices I can. Numbers in the mornings are up and down. I feel like it runs high when I'm not getting enough rest. But this will be over soon. Keep us in your thoughts and I'll be back soon.

  • hi again!
FBS 199 this morning, who the heck knows whats going on? I am still exercising away tho which helps with everything else. Rosey sounds like you got some major exercise coming up with shoveling a couple of feet of snow ...whoa nelly!

I did eat a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter before i go and exercise and it seems to be helping . I am going to have to find some other low fat snacks that will stick to my ribs. I'm hoping the sugars start going down.

Hey is anybody else here taking avandia? Ever since I started taking it, it seems like I'm putting on the pounds, even tho I am eating good and exercising.

Well, I have to work this weekend at our conveniance store so I will try to pop in and post. This will be a challenge looking at all that food there, but I will have to count to 10 and have my healthy snacks with me. emmi
