  • Hi, all. I've been in a funk and haven't felt like posting. The HMO denied my request to do a medical fast and I can't afford it on my own. In the meantime, I've put on over 10 lbs from stress about this and an ongoing problem I have at home. My blood sugar is a little higher than it should be with all the medication so I've got to try and get myself together and motivated. The reason I wanted the fast was to lose a lot of weight quickly so I can start walking again. I've had some orthopedic problems for the last few years which have prevented me from doing much walking. Now they are somewhat mitigated but I've put on so much weight it's too hard for me to walk much at all.
Carol -- sounds like you have a metatarsal problem. Do you have health insurance? You should see a good podiatrist to diagnose and treat your problem. It's important for diabetics to see a podiatrist regularly and take good care of our feet. You don't want to lose your mobility.

  • I got scared today!
I got really scared today My sugar dropped to 82 I got the shakes and It scared the death out of me. But a little grahm crackers and some milk did the job Well besides that I have had a busy week with school and work and home Boy am I a busy woman......I sure need a VACTION.... I will post tommorow with my weight after I go to WW.....See ya'all tommorow Angie
  • HI ladies,

I just read nosugarmomma's post about her sugar being 82 and her getting the shakes. Is that typical for everyone? I just thought I'd see if I'm atypical (which wouldn't suprise me *smile*) My sugar can be in the sixties sometimes with no ill effects on me. Sometimes I get the shakes, heart beating fast, sweats in the 60s but usually it has to be below that for me. I had a 69 sugar yesterday and it didn't effect me at all (it was right before lunch so I didn't worry about it). Is that abnormal?? Nothing I can do about it if it is, but thought I'd check! My sugars are becoming lower since I've been exercising and dieting so my sugars are dropping lower more often as I decrease my insulin to accomodate.
Good luck to everyone on this crazy weight loss journey!

  • Hi everyone.

I'm new to this thread, although I think I posted on one of the diabetes thread (may have been one of these) some time last year. I've been on 3fc for a while, but tend to forget about it when I fall off the diet wagon.

I was diagnosed as Type II in January 2004, and last year lost around 40lbs, which made my doc very happy. Unfortunately I'm in the last year of my law degree (whilst juggling kids and part time work in a law firm), and it's been kind of stressful, so I gained around 20 back again. The doc gave me grief last month about the fact that I'd gained it back, and that my levels were too high (rarely below 8), so he increased my meds and told me to lose weight before I go back to see him in August. I joined a UK slimming club called Slimming World last night, and I'm determined to do it this time.

  • Hi, Rosey. Yeh, I'm still in the funk. It has to do with a HVAC unit that is behind my apartment and disturbs my peace of mind. The owner is a large national corporation that I'm having a tough time getting to do the right thing. So I'm constantly anxious. All of you are so lucky who have your own homes. Can't afford to move. Anyway, I did get a respite this weekend and went to see the musical "Lennon." Enjoyed it, but oy vey -- all those gray heads in the audience -- is that "my generation?" I have managed to stay OP for 2 and 1/2 days this week. Trying not to let my problem sabotage this. I'm sorry that you aren't able to continue at Curves. You'll have to get those CDs out and start rocking to the oldies.
Hi to everyone else and congratulations on your weight loss.
