Cool

Hi there. I'm still slogging along only thinking about getting back on program. Am depressed about different things so this isn't helping.
Ca Deb - Hope you get better soon. It's easy to get off track when sick.
K - hooray for the exercise! I once tried running in the morning but then I wanted to eat like a horse for breakfast. That was many years and many lbs ago! Now I'm lucky if I can move at all in the morning.
Toosweet - welcome to our thread. Your morning sugars are actually much better than mine. Mine run usually in the 150s and 160s but come down during the day. My pcp took over my diabetes treatment for awhile, but then he diagnosed me with gastroparesis and I asked for a referral to an endocrinologist because I wanted someone more highly trained to help me with the medications. So now I see both my PCP and endo. If you insurance has health educators available, this might be a good time to see them, such as a nurse-education and a nutritionist.

Welcome TooSweet (Love yer kitty pic!)---Definitely find an endocrinologist! PCP's are fine, but endo gets to the root of things. Mine even has a monthly weight loss support group that my insurance picks up the cost.

k--hope you're not coming down with what I had---I'm still coughing a little. If it gets worse (ie: coughing pretty colors)---get the antibiotics. It's a cold---not a flu. Wish I would have started on them sooner than I did.

Have a great day--
Ca Deb

Hello,
So, are most people on this forum type one diabetic or type 2?

Goodmorning! I woke up feeling fine this morning, so either the airborne killed what was starting, or it was all in my head... My son has a cold, and I'm always ultra paranoid and sure I'm next to get it, so it very well could have been a head thing.

Universityprincess, I think most of us are Type 2. Of course, it doesn't matter what Type, just join on in.

I'm thinking about changing my ticker. When I was at the doctor the last time, I asked what weight range I should be in, and she said around 155. That would put me closer to my goal. I just remember 135 in high school feeling good. But, I have had a child since then. Really, how realistic is 135 with a med-large frame, and 5'7". Did I mention I like to eat?

How did you guys come up w/your weight goals?

Thanks for the advice, yea, I think I will go and see an endocrinologist. Besides if I can get a gym membership taken care of... I'm sure I'll go more often than not.. who doesn't love free stuff?

LOVE2C135- I came up with my weight goal by looking at the height and weight chart and picking the lower of the range of numbers. I'm only 5'6 and I also figured that if I make my goal more than I might possibly need, than I might be more motivated to hit a goal at all. If I shoot for 120 and don't make it, I might be in a good range like 140 or 130 so, that works for me. I hope. lol

Godd morning all Well its been a fast and furious week for me. I can hardly keep up with all the newbies. But so glad you are all here. Every new face has something good to bring to our group.

Well the good news on baby is we're still hanging in there. DIL has an appt. with a specialist in Houston tomorrow. We'll know alot more then I hope. The shower is Saturday and then the baby will be the next big event. I haven't even weighed. But plan to make time for that today My morning readings have been bounceing all over the place. Mostly on the high side. I'm hoping that it's just stress.

I noticed that we haven't heard from Rosey, Hope your still out there and burning up those machines at curves. Rosetta I sometimes go thur stages that I just can't seem to get my act together. I'm sure that's why I don't do better than I do. But hang in there and keep trying. Love sounds like your doing great, Send some of that motivation my way. 2sweet glad your here, love the kitty pic, as I'm a big cat person. I'll have to work more on making my post a little more exciteing to look at.

Well Pat, Emmi, and anyone else I forgot hope your all doing well. Got to run again.
Hugs,
Deb

Cool

Too Sweet - you get a gym membership from your insurer?!! Be sure to take advantage of that. Hope you get a good endo.
Love - with your height I think 150 might be a more realistic goal. You might not want to worry too much about the ultimate goal right now. Do it in increments of 20 or 30 lbs. That way you can feel a sense of achievement and the task isn't so daunting.
Deb - good to see you back and hear that things seem to be okay with the dil. Are you ready for the shower?
Princess - welcome to our thread. Most of us are Type 2s but Type 1s have the same issues so it makes no difference to us.
Ca Deb - Hi.
Where's Rosey and Pat?
Query for you all: I want to start bringing my lunch again, but I can't think of anything easy and low calorie except tuna and boiled eggs. Have you got any ideas? I don't like hot food for lunch. Would welcome your input. Hmm. Maybe I'll put this on a thread.

Good morning all! I've been OP all week! And, I'm met my running goals all week too! Wahoo!!! I hope I can say the same at the end of next week.

Rosettastone, I've started getting into the habit of bringing my lunch too, more to save money than anything else. What I've been doing, is at night, when I make the salads to go with dinner, I just make an extra one for the next day. Sometimes I also throw on an extra chicken breast, or whatever we're having for dinner so I can add it to my salad for the next day. I find that way, I don't dread making my lunch for the next day (and it actually gets done). Oh, sometimes I also throw in a low-carb tortilla, which helps fill the gap.

Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

Hi, all. K - congratulations on your staying OP and your running.
Mel - since you've been dealing with diabetes since childhood, you probably have a lot of tips you can share about maintaining blood sugar levels. We'd love to hear them.
Rosey - get back to curves, girl. You're doing so well. Once you start moving, you won't notice the cold. Oh, by the way, it's in the 60s here in S.F. and I heard the first mourning dove call this morning.
Thanks for the lunch tips.
Oh - Rosey - Hummous is made with chickpeas and flavored with garlic and lemon and other herbs. I love it but eat too much.
Have a nice weekend.

kind regards,
mary
