Hey Diana, glad to see you are sticking to running even after succesfully completing C25K, I guess you are an official runner now!! Good for you!!
I hope to be running my own 30 minutes pretty soon. I have patience though, it took me almost a year to lose 40lbs(still shooting to lose another 5lbs).
Anyway, rambling a little bit here today. I am still following my plan to stay wit Week 3 for another couple of days...
Welcome to the newbies on this threat!!
Completed another day of W4 today. It was ROUGH. Running in this heat was ridiculous and not very enjoyable. I'm kind of afraid to try W5 with this weather.
It's so exciting to see everyone succeeding at the program...and also to see new people joining in!
I had a bad run on Saturday and horrible run on Tuesday so I was getting discouraged. But this morning I managed 2 3/4 miles in 35 minutes. I had to walk a quarter mile in the middle (it was ridiculously almost unbearably humid) but all in all it was fantastic run.
Only 3 more runs before my C25K graduation run at my second 5K! I can't believe I'm almost done! On W1D1 I honestly never thought I'd make it through the program.
Holy crap!!! I just finished week 5 with the ever feared 20 minute non stop run and I conquered it!! Some points were hard but the closer I got to being done the harder I found myself running. I don't think I have ever run that far nonstop and didn't think I could EVER do it. I'm proud of myself
All of y'all rocking through the later weeks and saying you never thought you'd be able to do it are AWESOME and giving me so much hope!!!!! I just finished week 1 and definitely don't see how that 20 minute run is gonna happen, much less the 3 minute one in 2 weeks!
W1D3- not as good as day 2, much better than day 1! Did shave some time off of my total 3.2 mile walk/run... 46 minutes! Took me 50 on day 1, so whoo hoo for that! It was much more humid and warm this morning than the other mornings, but i finished all of the runs and even added another extra run... which may or may not have been a good thing since I was totally huffing and puffing up the biggest hill on my route! But I did it!
Speaking of hills... I live in a very hilly area. I can't escape them. Pretty sure they were created by the devil himself! Is it bad that I'm training on hills while first starting out? Too much too soon or good to start out with them since I'll be running hills anyway when I'm done with C25K?
I am in a very hilly area too, but I train on a relatively speaking flat part of my neighborhood. I do this for 2 reasons, one of which is its relative flatness, the other is that I frequently have my twim 5 year olds and sometimes my 10 year old with me and they can play in 1 of 2 of my neighbors yards where I can see them (we are in the very back of a neighborhood and get very little traffic there).
When I finish this round of C25K and school is in session I plan on starting it over and doing the hills. I know of one route that is exactly 2 miles from my driveway back that has some really serious hills, and another that is just over 3 miles that has some hills for the first and last 1/2 mile.
Anyone else find they are gaining weight? I am at Wk 7 and the scale keeps moving up. I track my food and don't go over 1400 calories a day.
According to this sticky thread, you shouldn't be gaining weight. I haven't been gaining, but I haven't been losing either. Throughout C25K, I've bounced between 222 and 224 (with occasionally glimpses of 221 and 225). But I know I'm gaining muscle and losing fat because my measurements are changing drastically and none of my clothes fit right anymore.

I love hearing about people conquering the much feared W5D3!
I did W8D3 today. A bird crapped on my head...and I kept running! It was a great run - 2.75 miles in just under 36 minutes. I can't believe I'm almost done with C25K! My second 5K race is next Saturday!
After doing Week 4 for way too long (hehe), I finally did W5D1 today! It was fantastic and not difficult at all!! I love noticing a difference in my cardiovascular abilities. When I stopped running the 5 min intervals, my heart would recover so quickly! In high school I used to be out of breath all day long after we ran the mile.
Also, my heart used to do this irregular heartbeat thing every once in a while, and I've noticed that since starting C25K it hasn't happened. I'm crossing my fingers that my heart is getting stronger and I don't have to worry about that anymore! Yay healthiness.
Everyone is doing so well! I love watching people conquer this program! Love it love it love it!
I just realized that after this posts, we only have ten more posts in thi thread until it's nocked and we start a new one! (I'm not crazy right? They lock the threads after 500 posts?)
So pretty much be on the lookout, because I have every intention of starting a new one once I see this one is locked away forever!

Thanks. I think it is the shift at wk 7 that is making me gain as there are no walk breaks. I can actually feel the water retention. I agree clothes fit better so that is what matters most.

That's great!
I did W5D1 today. It wasn't pleasant, but it was doable. I just wasn't in the mood to move today, but I'm glad I got off my butt and got it over with.
I quoted you b/c I wanted to comment on the irregular heartbeat thing. I used to have that, too. It was starting to freak me out b/c it was happening pretty much every day. Since I cut my caffeine down to 1 diet soda a day and since I started C25K the irregular heartbeats have completely stopped for me, too.
