The one thing I'm STILL having trouble with is finding a good C25k podcast. Ullrey is boring, Go Nicole Yourself has really crude and vulgar lyrics, and Chubby Jones (Mia) has too much interruption and timing countdowns, which I find to be distracting. I hope to eventually find something that works for me.
Starting W5, I switched to my own music and using my Nike+ to track distance/time. I found that I didn't need the podcast prompts when the intervals got less frequent. And if you're on W5D3, you only need to get though W6D1 and W6D2 and you're done with intervals!
I have the Get Running app on my iPhone. You can play your own stuff and it just alerts you to interval changes. That being said, I usually play it while I catch up on my DVR'ed trash tv.
Well, guys, even though I missed my Tuseday run, I tackled Week 5 Day 3 last night, and I conquered! I'm am soooo impressed with myself for running for 20 minutes straight and not giving up. I'm a super slow runner, so I hit 1 mile at 14min 36 sec and at that point I told myself I'd stop at 15 minutes, then I covered up the timer and next looked down at 16m 26 s, and figured, I could easlily complete another 3.5 minutes so I did. I really made it! I only covered 1.5 miles, but I'm so happy that I didn't stop, I don't really care how slow I run.
I would have never believed this was possible, but it so is! You guys in earlier weeks, just take it at your own pace and you can definatly accomplish far more that you may have thought possible.

That is AWESOME.
I'm even slower than you, so there ya go. I figure I'll focus on getting through the 9 weeks, then I'll probably go back to Week 1 and start working on increasing my speed.

I just wanted to say that after reading your post, tonight I decided to JUST GO FOR IT and I did w5d3!!!! I DID IT! My pace was just about the same as yours, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. I ran 20 minutes and DID NOT STOP!!!!
What makes me most proud is that although I am a severe asthmatic, I recovered with no problems at all and never one felt terribly winded. When the asthma kicks in, I start gasping and sputtering, but I didn't experience any of that tonight.
Plus, I decided to keep to my regular route despite the distance, so not only did I run 20 minutes, I did it on some killer hills.
I'm going to repeat d3 again over the weekend, but right now I am so looking forward to week 6!!!!
Congrats ladies. You're all doing so awesome. I missed W1D3 yesterday due to thunderstorms, and I'm afraid I just don't have the discipline to get up that early on a Saturday. Last time I did C25K it was cold out, so I ran during the day. I also had access to a treadmill then but had to let my gym memebership lapse to save money. Now it's so insanely hot here, I can barely bring myself to do anything outdoors after 7am. So I'm just going to jump right in Monday morning with W2D1.
my best friend and i are starting this tomorrow..we're huge couch potatoes but we're getting fit together so this is going to kick our butts, wish us luck!
question. do you guys prefer doing your c25k on the treadmill or outside?
I prefer outside, but I'm kind of a baby about the heat. I actually really like running outside when it's cold. It's the one and only time I like cold weather.
That said, it's nice to have access to a treadmill for rainy days or an easier run.

I've never run on the treadmill so I can't give an unbiased answer. But I can say that I love running outside...it feels so natural and primal, and I love the adventure of finding new routes, and there's something exhilarating about really seeing how far you've actually gone on your run.

Junco, you rock! I can't imagine tackling this program with asthma. Nor running on hills. I'm in flat Florida and even here, I run on a treadmill... though that's mostly due to the heat.
I just wanted to say congrats and doesn't it feel good?
