I've been thinking about starting the C25k program. I am already doing a 5 day a week, one hour fitness boot camp, but I was thinking that adding an extra exercise to the end of my day might be really nice.

I'm a little intimidated about this, I jog at boot camp but I usually have to walk some of the way, but you know, you'll never do something if you don't try...

the program is actually well planned to help your body adapt. you run then walk for the first half of the program so if you already run and walk then you should have a good head start and I definitely would give it a try

Come Audrina, you can do it!! Get on board with us. I am getting ready for my 2nd week starting tomorrow, I've never run before and I am 45 years old. If I can so do you!!
Besides, you'll find lots of support and great advice from the members of this and other forums here at 3FC....

Kscrooge, thx for the information.
Glad to hear so many of you are doing so well.

Good luck,

Caribbean Girl

Was just introduced to this by some fellow chicks on another thread. To be honest, I am scared. I just find it very hard to run! I can do a 1hr aerobics class straight, without even taking a sip of water. Tell me to run though, and I am dying after 3 mins!

Welcome Slim! Don't be too afraid, I was scared of running as well until I started C25K. As you can see on the Coolrunning website (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) this program is made for beginners! It gradually increases the running times so that you get stronger and are able to do it. Also, so can repeat the weeks if you're not feeling confident in moving on. I downloaded the podcasts from : http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html, put it on my MP3 player and use that to keep track of my walking/jogging intervals.

Keep checking back to this forum and good luck!

Good luck on Week 5..!!
SlimCB welcome to the forum, I am kind of new myself but it's a great place to start this program.

LauraLoo, thx for sharing those web sites. I've found a few good podcasts designed especifically for the C25k program. I am currently trying Podrunner Intervals...

Cheers,

Caribbean Gir

I did W4D1 today. I only had to slow down to a fast walk on the last 5 minute run. Other than that, I did great!

Matter of fact, I did way better than I expected. First, a "short" doctor's appointment for my son turned into a 2 hour thing and then the sound in one of my headphone buds went out. So I was really grumpy when I got to the gym. To make matters worse, when I was about 10 minutes in a lady got on the treadmill next to me and starred at me the whole time! Not just looked a few times. She starred. She literally had her head turned my way the whole time I was there. It was so uncomfortable but I didn't want to have to stop and move to another machine. I just hope I don't see her again.

Well I decided to just go for it. Downloaded an app to my iPhone this morning and off I ran. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I don't know why I was worried about it, I go to boot camp every morning and we run.

I was thinking that I may do it 5 days a week instead of the recommended 3 but I'm not sure yet.

Congrats! It's not recommended to do it back to back days because your body should rest, but I've been thinking of doing this as well simply because I get so much enjoyment out of running. Let us know how it goes if you attempt it!

Yeah I was kind of thinking that too, but my body isn't going to be able to rest at all as this isn't my primary exercise, it's just something do on the side. I'll be up and jogging at 6:30 in the morning tomorrow.

We'll see how I feel about it tomorrow. I'm starting to like running more and more now that I'm not always looking at my feet when i run, but I feel like everyone is always looking at me thinking 'look at that fat girl run and how her fat jiggles' lol

My husband came home for lunch on Friday and "caught" me jogging. So he now knows I am doing the C25K and is joining me. He is 2 days behind me, so I guess I will be redoing those days...that is ok, it may be a good thing for me to redo them.

Woohoo! Everybody's doing great!

I was supposed to do W6D1 today. I didn't feel well yesterday and it really showed in my run today. It pretty much sucked. Oh, well, there's always another day.
