Welcome to all the newbies! I think C25K is amazing and wish I had come upon it years ago, but my moto lately is it is never to late to start.

Ninepaw and Rochester - we LOVE you, it would be sad if you stopped posting.

Getting ready to go out for W7D1 - It amazes me that I can jog for 25 minutes straight!!! I really was not sure if it was possible when I started back on July 22!

ETA - I had a good time, but I must not have stretched enough, my calf cramped up and after 15 min I decided to stop and stretch it out some more. It then totally cramped up and I had to walk it out the rest of the time. Oh well, since I did not do a full work out, I may give it a try again tomorow morning.

I gotta admit it feels kinna weird to know that others are looking to ME for inspiration! But I'll gladly be anyone's cheerleader because I believe that C25K is a fantastic program that really works.

I had a bad running week and I discovered that I had chosen the wrong program to try after C25K. It sounds totally doable - a few days of distance training, a few days of speed work. But my body is just not ready for 5 days a week of running or for speed work. My brain and body are not in sync. Mentally I 'd be happy running 10 miles a day 7 days a week, but my body is nowhere near ready for that. Trying a different program next week...and not giving up!

Hello chickies! Did my first day of C25K yesterday. It was pretty easy. I'm just wondering ...how fast are you doing your walks/jogs. I was at 3.2 for my walks and 3.6 on my jogs maybe I should bump it up? I really like reading what you all have to say about this. I'll going up to 4.0 for my jogs. I let you know what happens. Maybe I'll survive!!! Off to do W1D2.

Hope you don't mind if I join!

I am planning on starting W1D1 on Monday. I'm a little nervous though, I haven't exercised in a long time, I had a baby in January and I am VERY out of shape! I guess I can just start and see how it goes though - and redo weeks if I need to....we'll see!

W1d3 finished just now. I feel ok. I still don't like running that much but I finished it so it's an accomplishment.
I've just realized that I did W2D1 last time (on W1D2) LOL. SO messed up.
But I was able to keep up with the pace of w2 so I'm sure i'll survive next week as well.
Down 1 week. 8 more to go.

Week 8 Day 1 Under my belt... Also, just found out my graduation from c25k, AKA my first ever 5K that is next Monday (labor day) ... The girl that was supposed to be running with me has not trained all summer, she ran one time. So it kind of feels like all this crazy hard work I've been doing is going to just lead to disappointment on 5K day because I don't want to leave her behind. Oh well, there will be others. The sad thing is that I can't do any of them because I'm in my last semester of nursing school starting tomorrow. NO time for races!

I have got to change my mentality about this, because I am truly amazed at the progress I've made in 8 weeks, but for the time being, I am kind of feeling like my graduation ceremony is getting rained on lol

Allowatt - You have trained hard to be able to do this, and you should be proud of how far you have come. I honestly think that I would leave her behind, you worked hard to do this and it is not your fault that she has not.

I agree. I understand why you would want to stick with her, but you deserve this. If she put in the work and you hadn't, would she hang with you?

Allowatt- I'm all about supporting others, but they have to put some effort into it too! I say leave her in the dust and celebrate your accomplishment! Sometimes you have to do something for yourself, and I think that running the 5k that you've been working for is definitely something great for yourself. She obviously wasn't thinking of you when she wasn't training, so you should think of yourself in the race. Good luck to you, whatever you decide to do!

Okay, I just registered for my first 5k!!! Yikes! This should be some real motivation to keep me working on this. I registered for the Santa Hustle 5k here in Chicago in December. That gives me plenty of time to train, but I will still have to keep up with it. OMG, can't believe I just did that!

I simply love this thread! You all are so inspiring. I'll be doing W1D3 today. I just have to figure out how to work it in. I think I'll do it first thing this morning, so the rest of my day doesn't get in my way. I'm jealous of all of you who are going to run in upcoming 5K's. It's something I've always wanted to do, but never had the confidence and I don't think there are any in this rinky dink town we live in!

allowat, you deserve a GREAT 5k regardless of what your friend chose to do (not do...). Tell her you trained for this and you're going to give it your all because you worked hard for this day!

Good for you, rochester! Soon enough, you'll be able to run 7 days a week. I'm happy you're looking for a new program and not letting this set you back. Way to go!

I finished Week 1 last night!!! I was supposed to finish it Saturday morning but both of my iPods hate me right now. I charged my shuffle for two days and it was dead when I went to run Saturday AM. Seriously???? Ugh. But I ran last night and can't wait to start Week 2 tomorrow. :-)

Sign me up! I was toying around with doing a race as a one of my goals after reading about so many other ladies' accomplishments. I've always wanted to enjoy running instead of wishing I would die before I finish lol. I just found out about a 5k that's next April in my hometown and I'm gonna sign up for it tomorrow to keep myself accountable. I'm actually in Japan as of now, but I'll be moving back in late Oct., so I thought why not start now I've mapped out my run on MapMyRun and will begin training after my stupid TOM. Keep the posts coming, it makes this goal feel attainable
