I think it's both. The bloat is usually water retention which goes away after TOM leaves BUT it's the cravings and laziness that turns that bloat into real lbs.

Jasonslea - i was on work stuff and didnt have a chance to check in on here, i missed you guys!!!

Lekhika - TOM totally effects my weight, i can gain up to 5 lbs around this time, i really suffer with fluid retention so this could be why.. i also turn into the sugar monster..!!

Sockmonkey / buttermom - alcohol is my weakness on a saturday night, i really really enjoy a nice big glass of wine, and i still have it! I do cut lose every now and again and drink too much - im thinking we are human and sometimes you need to just party!!

So went to the gym last night for an hour, had a lovely dinner, that is key for me having nice meals that are still healthy otherwise i get bored very quickly... seems strange how i dont get bored of eating crap that is bad for me... anyway! Hope your all having a good day ladies!!

well, my scale at home which i have been going by, says i am 233. At the gym on monday, it said i'm 241. I just dont get it. That's a HUGE difference. the scale i have at home is a Weight Watchers digital scale. My friend is going to the gym with me and she says there is a difference between the two scales at the gym as well. One weighs at 6# heavier than the other. Unfortunately, the one i was on weighed her as lighter. So I'm a little discouraged today. I dont know if it's because i weigh myself in the morning at home...but c'mon...10# difference!!! I weighed myself on the gym scale and was 243, and my home one said 243 originally..so i dont know what the happened. The scale upstairs will change slightly if i move it, or if you are leaning forward a little..so i have changed my ticker to reflect the gym, and my new weigh in days will be mondays from now on. This month..I have changed my goal to simply lose weight..I dont know how much...but just to lose weight, go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I know i have lost something because my clothes fit better.. It's no wonder people have set backs...but I'm vowing not to let this be an excuse to dive into the junk.

Oh...on the brite side (if you want to look at it that way)...the gym had me at 253 to start..which is already 10 # heavier than i though...it just sucks to "gain" 10# overnight lmao....I'm better now by the way...thanks for letting me vent

Thanks for the illumination. I was curious as to which it was , the bloat, the cravings or the combination of the deadly two!

jellybeanz
I used to have a trainer like a kazillion years ago and one of the things he always told me was well after telling me to throw out my scale and go by how my clothes fit...was, only weigh yourself on one scale. It doesn't matter in the end which scale starts where, what matters is the amount lost according to your scale. THen he went on this long winded blah blah about how as a society we are too dependant on numbers and how we would be so much happier if we just went by how our clothes fit.

tracyg40
Hope you have a great workout and an even better day.

As for me, I did a brisk walk on the treadmill for about an hour. My knee has been aching because of the running and I don't want to injure myself at the very beginning of this process....hence the walk. I'll likely get back on again at the end of the day.

The most wonderful thing happened....the jeans, the jcrew jeans without even a teeny percentage of spandex....they fit...and not just fit....they are baggy at the thighs and even hip area. Next week, I try on my size 10 jeans. Oh the beginning of this is so awesome...it's just the end that sucks... (I mean the plateau).

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

I LOST 2 POUNDS thats good right? anyway I've been coming home from school with stomach aches and stuff lately (always after school) i dont know whether its stress from the tests or TOM coming up but does anyone have any-thing to soothe it i dont like to use medicenes coz i have to be careful of what my body takes in (allergic to some chemicals) I've been drinking tea which helps a little bit but is there something more effective? thankyou.

Hi Everyone. I haven't been checking in every day like I had originally decided. I haven't gotten weighed yet, I had my TOM and I alsways weigh 5# more just before. I have been walking in the mornings with my son and the dog. I am headed to his school this afternoon for a FitWalk with the entire school. I think it is a 1 mile trip. It will be good for him to have me there, I don't usually attend those events.

Piggin ~ I'm the same way.

Jelly ~ I would go by whatever scale you normally weigh on. Forget the gym scale.

Congrats Lekhika and Mascara!

Jelly - I have a WW weigh scale too and it doesn't matter what other scales say I go by that one.....because the weight thing makes me squirrly. One morning I got curious and weighed myself in different positions and I weighed differently in each position......so I just settled on one posture. My test to see if it was accurate was putting one of my son's dumbbell of 35 pounds on it and every time it came up as 35 pounds. I figure with WW those ladies don't mess around so it's gotta be right!!

Mascara - 2 pounds eh? Pretty great......that's a small Cornish Hen you've lost there girl!! I love your dancing carrots everywhere they just crack me up.

Greeneyz - I think it's normal to gain 30 pounds each period

Steamie: Howz your fruit and veggie plan going?

I'm doing great - riding my bike like crazy and running too. Getting ready for my race May 30th.

Ray xo

hi there girls, I tried posting but it failed! You kow what they say, "if at first you don't succeed, try try again! lol So nice to hear from you all!

pigginpodgey, welcome back I t is nice to have you back with us.

Lehika, and to all others who had a loss, congratulations girls! THe boards wont let me see all at this moment.

Lytricia, ty so much on the info regarding the cranberry juice! Honest to god, I didn't even t hink of it! ty! It is so true too! I didn't go that route, we hit the beach yesterday and then straight to the market. I scanned the nutritional labels there to no avail and yessssss. ouff. I did have a juicer at one time but I ah! lol I tried to grind my clams in it once lytricia and broke it! hahahaha It was a chintzy juicer to begin with, and since then I have the commercial kind for the clams, etc. I am not a cranberry juice lover, nooooo, dh is though! I figured by diluting it with water, it may wor k for me. ANyways, you know what? I was scanning the market isle the other day and came across this ocean spray sugar free version! Guess what???? 33 grams of sugar! lol versus the 10 grams or so in regular? or light? omg! anyways, dh was waiting for me and i had to run, so I just left it. Sticking with water and green ice teas, yet I want my sun eleuthero ginseng from the nature food store! Thanks lytricia Lehika, cranberry juice is good for you!

Hi mascara, hope you feeling better. All my life, I typically get very sick during or right before TOM. I never took or take medicines for it. Chamomile tea can work wonders! honest! but try and get the real stuff. THe chamomile tea flower heads and steam them and make them into a tea. Hope this helps.
Congrats on the 2 lb. loss : )

hi ther ray! hiya darling! I am well, It's going good here. SO nice to hear from you! bravo on the run training, kick *** my freind!

Lehika, I get so affected by TOM , it is not funny! I put on fluids like crazy and usually get very sick! Now, few past months I do notice a difference. I still feel the fluids, but dont get as sick as I used to, and I swear, exercise has h epled. I remember my first month here, ladies during tom working out........like jelly beanz, etc. Honest to god, I would think, How do they do it? I would be so sick, I could not move!!!!!!!!!! let alone work out! well, to my pleasure, I have found out that somehow eating healthy and exrecising has in fact reduced that physical pain and I can still manage some workouts during that time. As for the fluids, I am extra careful! i make it ap oint to not eat salty foods during that time or cheese, etc....it just affects me so much! In a nutshell, I think it is natural to have some fluid gain during this time, though it affects us all differently. What really helps me is to avoid salty stuff and drink lots of water. As far as cravings go, it is weird, some months i have them and am extra hungry, other months not as much. I just try and keep busy , drink lots of water, exerices, etc etc. and yes, it has helped me tremendously.

Hi jasons lea, good luck with TOm as well..........it can be a real bugger sometimes!

jellybeanz? hey! are you kidding kid? go by one scale! I would go nuts, so totally nuts! As a matter of fact, we have a new one here, it measures body fat which is great, but when its weigh in day, I go on the one I always go on! I would go insane otherwise! Your doing great, dont let that hang you up okay? Im serious! stick with one scale!!!!!!!!!!! Youuuu are doing great! keep at it dont let those stupid scales get the best of you, stick with one okay?

hi tracy, hope you had a good workout! : )

lehika, congrats on the jeanssssssss! : ) I dont blame you, watch the knees. DId you take measurements? I , to this day, am kicking myself in the butt for not doi ng so! So many people told me to do it, especially for those times when the scale may not move or be slow. I see it though, my god, my clothes are falling off of me! It sure would be nice to have a factual measure though, aside from the scale! Anyways, congrats keep u pthe awesome work.

hey greeneyez, bravo on doing the walk, despite not feeling well with TOM. Good for you! Keep it going and i hope you feel better

rayyyyyyyyyy, hey baby! IT is going great! I feel good. I did have some fish last night. Dh decided to do it with me and that was really neat! SO far, so good. He took the day off yesterday and we hit the beach, it was great! We brought watermelon and grapes and went for a long walk. We are currently in this 3 day warm front which I am loving! for tonight, I cooked a vegetable casserole dish (one of my fav's, greek). It's going good ray, thanks for asking girl I am glad you here! so far, so good kiddo! one day at a time! happy you are here, talk soon

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this board. I know it's 10 days into the month, but I would still like to post a goal for myself. I would like to lose 5 pounds by the end of the month.

Ray thanks so much for the compliment. If only I looked as good in person as I photograph. It's a curse LOL. I changed my pic since I dyed my hair black. Black always makes me look more femine hehe.

Hope everyone's doing great! I see lots of excercise and good eating going down, so kudos to you guys staying on track!!!

I, on the other hand, am a big lazy weekend/sometimes weekday alcoholic who is trying to totally sabotage her diet LOL. And it might as well pour since it's all ready rainin. Aunt Flow is dropping in this week so I am going to feel like a Goodyear Blimp. But I say "NO, I can do this. Two bad days and TOM is not the end of it. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Geeeeez."

Ok I feel better now. That 11 pound goal I set is feeling a little out of reach right now, but who knows. Miracles happen.
