Hi People! May I Join Y'all?
My name is Jill.....I'm 62....and suddenly woke up to realize that I'm now officially fatter than I've ever been in my life!! Of course, it's my husband's fault lol Have started back watching calories and carbs and logging everything that passes my lips into the My Fitness Pal app on my iPhone/iPad. Not much of an exerciser, but I am trying to at least walk some...and a little more each day. Luckily, Hubby is also at his all-time fat, so he's joining me in my effort to get back to a healthy weight. He's great support...don't get me wrong...but I still need some gal-pals to cheer me on. I belonged to 3FC for a good amount of time but was not able to sign in under my old name...so here I am a Newbie once again. Nice to meet y'all!
I'd like to join this group. I've read a few pages of the beginning of the thread and a couple of the last, and will catch up with the entire thread later today.
I have 20 pounds to lose. Earlier this year I was steady at 144 but went on vacation and carbed up. Gained 10 pounds!! I just changed my stats and moved my goal weight up since I'm 52 and have meno and thyroid issues. I'm a LCer with occasional fruit and I'm grain free.
I like this board because it includes all kinds of ways to lose weight. Whatever gets you there!! I'm expecting a book by mail regarding a thyroid diet written by an endocrinologist that I might be trying. I'm always reading health and diet books
Jillie, Crimzon, Vivian!!! Welcome ladies. We are glad to have you visit us. We hope you will visit us frequently and become regulars here. It is nice to share support and ideas with others so that we can work on and reach our desired goals together.
Well today is Friday for me. I did pretty good all week, but it is so hot out today. I did have a small bowl of ice cream. I am proud of myself though. I did maintain portion control and not eat the whole container. My belly feels full. So eating less has been helping my stomach to shrink and feel full with less. Yeah!

Hi Everone! Happy Weekend to Y'all!
Hope each of you has fun and is able to stay on track! So far, so good for me. I'm not going to weigh myself this week as I've just started my healthy eating plan. I made a scrumptious chicken skillet dinner last night, only 217 calories, virtually no fat and no bad carbs. It was yummy and satisfying. Even my vegetarian pup loved it! Let me know if you'd like me to post the recipe here. They won't let me upload a pic of it (which I think is ridiculous, btw).
Today is sunny and cool....about 75 for the high here in westernmost NC. I think we're going to hop in our Old Jeep Wrangler and go explore the Fontana Dam and Lake area near Robbinsville, NC, just a few miles up the Nantahala Byway here in the Nantahala Natl Forest. This is my spiritual place...where God's beauty is soooo abundant!!
Corinna..... YAY YOU for controlling that ice cream!
I do hope to become a regular. I'll be weighing in tomorrow but not looking forward to it.
I have to change my internet habit and come to post at night. I'll be more accountable that way. I'm always optimistic in the a.m. and the demons take over at night - if you know what I mean
You guys have a good day.
Jillie - how great it is to be a reasonable drive to your spiritual place. Mine is far away.

Hi Girls!
Lizzy....luckily my best spiritual place is right here where I live in the summer....along the Valley River, near Andrews NC. I didn't make myself very clear....but the beauty in this whole area is just astounding to me, no matter how many times I see it :-)
I've decided to go ahead and weigh in tomorrow, even tho I know those first few pounds are usually water weight. A pound lost is a pound lost, right?!

Jill's Skillet Chicken--low fat, no bad carbs, no sugar, Delish!
Jill's Skillet Chicken Dish for Two
6 small chicken tenderloins cut into medium sized pieces
About 15 Fresh green beans, halved
2 very small red potatoes washed and quartered
1/2 medium sweet onion, large cut
About 10 cherry tomatoes, halved
A few shakes of crushed red pepper
A clove or two of garlic, diced
About 4 tbl of low fat Feta cheese
One packet of Swanson Flavor Boost, chicken flavor
You can also add an artichoke, well rinsed and chopped and/or a few fresh mushrooms and/or a chopped up yellow squash or zucchini....or whatever you like :-)
Sautee the chicken and onion in 2 tbl olive oil while microwaving the potatoes and green beans (covered) for 3 minutes. Put potatoes and green beans aside til later.
Season chicken and onions with crushed red pepper plus a little sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Add the Flavor Boost packet plus about 2tbl of water along with the garlic. When the chicken is done and the onions are clear, add the potatoes and green beans and cook a little more.
When the beans and potatoes are tender, throw in the cherry tomatoes and Feta cheese and just toss them until heated.
Hi Jill and Lizzie and welcome to this thread. Hope you find the support and encouragement here that I have found. Even when you mess up, that support keeps you going to get back on track.
I had a good start to the week and have ended on a kind of so-so couple of days. Hoping not to have gained back any, I guess tomorrow will tell.
Tomorrow may be my last weigh-in for awhile, I leave for Bali next Friday, and won't be back until about the 20th October. I am not too worried about this trip, as I don't usually gain when I am there, and hopefully if I am really careful, I will sweat out a few pounds (think positive!)
Corinna - It is so great that you can recognize when you are full and stop. Takes away the guilt of having a little treat once in a while. It is unseasonably hot here too, low 30's (C) yesterday, it is not unheard of to have had a snowfall by this time.
I have been trying to drink more water - if I touched a carton of ice cream, it would so disappear!!!
