Hi Renee! Wow, what a taco salad coincidence. That is funny. I hope you did a good job at staying hydrated. Well my week is still going good. I jogged a little this morning, with another blueberry vitamin drink for breakfast. For lunch I had a salad wrap sandwich. For Supper it was a couple of veggie pizza slices. Then it was the last of the shortcake with cream. It was only about 1X2 inch in size. So that is all gone now, and I told my husband not to buy any more of it, and he agreed. I have been staying busy with work, so that is helping me.
Well this morning I had a slightly longer walk, followed by raisin toast for breakfast, a salad for lunch, a small walk in the afternoon, and a couple of veggie schnitzels for supper. Doing good so far this week.
How have you been Renee? Are you drinking lots of water during your work? I hope so. I see the U.S. is having a big heat wave. Be careful not to get heat exhaustion.
You're doing great this week, Corinna! Yes, we are having a brutal heatwave. We are trying to get our hay baled and the heat and humidity make it really hard. I am mainly the go-fer. I make sure they have cold water in the field and I get the tools to fix anything that breaks. The heatwave is supposed to break on Sunday...I have been watering the garden every other day and freezing lots of vegetables. I pick the veggies early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. I really don't mind the heat...I like it better than winter. Hope the scale is my friend this week...
Today I had a banana for breakfast. Lunch was mash potatoes, asparagus, and cauliflower gratin. Then we had a farewell party for my friend at work. I did eat some cake and a cookie. Tonight I had a veggie sub. I almost had a few cookies that my husband had bought, however I put them back in the cupboard. I thought about my weigh-in tomorrow morning and got scared.
How have you been doing with your food choices and portion sizes Renee?
Well, the scale didn't budge I don't know what to do I get so hungry if I eat tiny portions. It was so easy to lose weight when I was younger.......I'm dissappointed in myself.....Corinna, I hope you did better than me!
Oh Renee, I am sorry to hear that you didn't lose any weight this week. You have to eat more than me....since you do lots more physical labor than I do. It sounded like you are eating lots of veggie and fruits. Maybe you could try preparing them in a different manner to cut down on some of the calories. Do you drink soda? That is another area to cut calories by substituting it with water instead. What did you eat today?
Well, I did lose 3 lbs this week! Yippee!!! So that brings me back to where I was about a month ago I think.
This morning I went for a walk. Breakfast was some raisin toast. For Brunch I had an egg & cheese muffin. For lunch it was some vegetable soup and eggplant curry. For supper I had taco salad. No afternoon walk today, but I did spend some time on the elliptical machine this evening while watching TV, about 30 minutes at an easy pace.
So Renee what did you eat today? Maybe we can brainstorm together to see what you can change so you can see those numbers dropping again for you too. I would like to help and inspire you like you have done for me.
Hello ladies! Thanks for the kind message Corinna! You guys are still plugging along - good for you. I've taken a break and gained a few. Need to get back on track before it becomes an overwhelmIng amount. I'll try to be better about checking in. What is the temp where u are, Corinna?
Hi Kris!! So glad to have you in the group again. Well I think we have swapped weather patterns since we last spoke. You're having the heat wave now and we're having the frost. It is about 33F low in the morning with frost and warms up to 64F high during the day. I have also gained some weight since we last corresponded. We need to stay in regular contact with each so we can support each other to make the right choices and reach our goals. Renee is another friend on this site who provides great support and frequents this site rather regularly. I think if the 3 of us work together, we can make those pounds move in the right direction. Far away from us.
How are you doing Renee? Do you have any ideas about what you might try to change for the upcoming week?
Today I went for a 2.5 mile walk. Breakfast was an egg and muffin. Lunch was Indian food. Supper was taco salad. I went shopping and walking during the day, so I was busy most of the day on my feet. Planted a few primroses and pansies in pots to brighten up my front door entrance. A few flowers makes a big difference. Makes a welcoming entrance for me when coming home from work.
Good morning Kris and Corinna! Well, I did better yesterday....cut down on my snacks. I went out and bought more fruit and will reach for that when I'm feeling hungry. I will drop this extra weight!
You can do it Renee, we know you can! Great choice in the fruits, especially with summer time. I bet you have all kinds to choose from at the store, market, or roadside stand. I forget if you said you had some you grow too.
How are you doing today Kris? Are you able to fight those sweet urges?
This morning I went for a slow jog. Breakfast was a banana with walnuts followed later by a raspberry muffin. Lunch was a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, mushroom, and onions. French fries on the side. (yes I know, very bad choices). Supper was some grilled tofu, and an ice cream afterwards. Writing it all down here is great. Because I see that I didn't eat very well today at all. I need to make better choices for tomorrow.
Tonight I am cooking some carrots and cauliflower. Another pot has some onion, garlic, eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, Quinoa, and tomato paste. I plan on having these tomorrow. If I cook them tonight, then when I am hungry tomorrow after work, I won't have to wait so long for some good food that is a much better choice.
Hi Everyone,
I would love to join you all. I have been on a plan the last week and a half and dropped 8 pounds quickly, but had an off weekend (local fair time) and gained back 3.
I have had a rough couple of years, weightwise. One of my children has been going through a miserable divorce, (they never stop being your babies), and I finally quit smoking the end of January this year. I have always had a weakness for comfort food, but after packing on 75 lbs. over the last few years, I don't particularly feel comforted any more!
So, time to do something. I have been cutting way back on carbs (except for this weekend), drinking a ton of water, and really trying to limit my portion sizes (this is a biggie for me). I would like to get motivated to get more exercise. I haven't even taken my bike out this year yet.
It sounds like you all have a really positive attitude, and I hope I can share in that.
Hi Jude...you sound like me with your eating habits It's really hard to stay motivated when the scale goes in the wrong direction. You came to the right place. We will encourage you and cheer you on. Together we can do this!!!!!
Welcome to the group Jude! We are glad to have you here. Divorces are rough and it really gets to the heart when it happens to your own family. You sound like you a loving and caring Mom. Congratulations on quitting smoking. That there is a big addition to overcome, good for you! Emotional eating is something we share and I think that most of my weight gain is a result of it. I look forward to corresponding with you, sharing our strength and weaknesses, and helping each other achieve our weight goals.
Renee, are those fruits working out for you? I use to be able to eat all kinds of fruits. Not so many anymore. The acid in them makes my mouth break out now. Must be an age thing. Cooked fruit works out better for me, but I still have to limit that too sometimes. My favorite use to be Apples. What is yours?
Hey Kris, how are you doing? Are you able to take any short walks in the cooler part of the morning or afternoon? Do you have any special recipes that you would like to share with us?
Does anyone else have a favorite diet recipe they would like to share?
Renee and Corinna - Thanks for the welcome - I don't really have anyone that understands what a struggle it is to drop weight, and I am so glad to have the support.
Renee - I am trying to eat more fruit right now. Where we live my raspberries are just starting to ripen, and I will have a ton of them soon.. hmmm.. I wonder if there is such a thing as a raspberry diet? Actually, that was my breakfast this morning - a fruit salad with fresh cantaloupe, strawberries, and raspberries 2 minutes out of the garden.
I usually make jam and pies with the berries, so I may end up just freezing what we don't eat, or else everyone I know is going to be very happy with gifts of jam and pies
I have been obsessed with weighing, and it is discouraging when I don't see what I like, I think I should cut it down to once a week, so am trying that this week. It kind of gives me a short term goal to stay on track for longer than just one day.
One thing I found really helps when I want to snack is to drink a big glass of water, wait 5 minutes, and see if I really need something. I find I rarely want anything after.
Corinna -It's great you get out walking so much, I really need to get motivated to get moving more - there always seems to be some excuse not to go (it's too hot, it's too cold, too many mosquitoes etc. etc.)
Just a note - I am waiting to hear from my daughter that is halfway across the country right now having an embryo transfer to be a surrogate for dear friends of hers that are unable to carry their own child - would appreciate any positive thoughts on that
