Evening Ladies - I'm having a lazy one today. I don't work out on Saturday's its my only day off so I took a nap with the baby which I NEVER do. The reason I don't do it is it makes me feel tired for the rest of the day which it did. Oh well tomorrow is another day. I'm going to a BBQ at my mom's tomorrow so I have to exercise early to make sure I get it in.

Petra - I bet that 3 lbs is all from TOM. He decided to come to my house today. I got a Tanita scale but have not actually started using it yet because of TOM. I don't want to scare myself :fr:.

Clipclop - I am familiar with Cadbury's (lived in England for a total of about 6 years and it's very popular there) but I don't think I have seen what you are talking about here. Then again I'm staying away for that section of the stores so I don't tempt myself:m: :cookie:. If I had one that would lead to 2. I have alot of willpower until I give in to something like that then I would cave.

Hotcup - I want to go camping. Actually I bought the baby a lifevest today so maybe we will take the boat out next weekend.

Lisa - Great job on the weight loss . You are doing so well!!!!

curly the climber!

ooooooooooo my aching body! let me tell ya'll what i did yesterday! Im so proud of myself! First let me explain that where i live is at sea level and everything is flat....

I hiked "the star trail" in roanoke it goes down the side of a mountain... and it also goes back up!!! the elevation is 1800 foot!!

in total @ 6 miles id say but the climbing up was the killer! and I am asthmatic.. But took our time.. rested along the way

And i did it!!!!!! on my way home I stopped and had the regular cheeseburger at mcdonalds cuz I earned that bad boy!!!!!!

and yep I even had the bread!!! hahaha

the pic tho not real clear shows how high up we were!

Good Morning- :coffee:

Just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone here. Just a quick note that this morning was my WI and I'm down 2lbs! YIPPEE! I was excited, but at the same time, AGAIN realized how slow this is going to go.

I'm going to stick with it, though! Thanks to all of you for nudging me along these past days and weeks. :thanks:

Lisa- Way to go on the loss! Every bit helps! :cheer:

Petra- I just bought my Tanita last Saturday. Tis the reason for my WI today. It was pretty accurate when I tested it, and I figure it's right, as I should have lost around 2 lbs this week. It also tells me body fat (that's another depressing number), but will be interesting to also see that one go down, down, down.

ClipClop- Mmmmm, Cadbury Chocolate. Only 100 calories, I will have to check it out! Thanks!

Momx- Have a fun time at your BBQ! :dancer:

See ya all on da flip side!

Lisa_WY 05-29-2005 11:49 AM

another quick one!

Howdy all,
Last night we watched my stepson's girls... I had a 3 month old and a very active 2 year old for the night! Oh My! I forgot what it was like to have a baby in the house. LOL I think my stepson and family stay up late because both the girls didn't go to sleep until midnight. Our weather is cold again! YUCK!!

Mallissa and I had a nice day together yesterday. We went to the Y and swam and then went on a nice long bike ride. We have a trail (the greenway) that goes through the city. It starts at the end of my street. I have only been on it a few times walking. It has bridges and tunnels. Mallissa thought it was really kewl but we both were tired when we finished our 3 miles. SHe hasn't learned to use the down to help her go up in places. She still has training wheels on her bike and hopefully by the end of summer she will have them off.

Annie: I will take any LOSS!! It is slow going but in the long run we all will be better off.

Curlylocks: Great walk. Most of our elevation is up!! I also have asthma. Most of the time it doesn't bother me as much but with everything in bloom.. it really gets to me at times.

Momx3: Sunday is my lazy day. If I can exercise I do and use another day that I know I will be busier as my skip the exercise. I am trying to get it in 4-5 times a week. Last week, I didn't feel as well because I didn't exercise very much but I am trying not to park in the closest parking space, or walking around the block to get the mail, or the other night at the mall, Mallissa and I parked on the opposite end of where we were going so I could walk to the store. Not formal exercise but does help because any movement is good movement. Last night, Sklyer, Mallissa and I danced for a few songs being silly. LOL. I am sure we looked funny but we had fun. THe girls were laughing at me. LOL

Petra: Glad you are back. Don't worry about the gain, just get back on the horse!! Interesting stuff on PCOS. I also have it and had a hystro at 30. Didn't cure some of the problems but I love not having TOM. My dh does a radio show and he talks about addiction all the time and another group I am on, Grandparents raising Grandchildren the subject of addiction is a big factor in why we are raising our children's children.(some of you may have guessed that Mallissa is my adoptived child. She is biologically my stepson's daughter but has always lived with us. He doesn't have addiction problems, just stupidity and the wrong picker in women. After 4 years he is back in our lives and things are going well) Meth is a big problem in this state as well as many places in the country. Mallissa's bio mom has a meth addiction. I do have to ask you if you don't mind. What do you think about play therapy? In the past, Mallissa has participated in it to work out some issues and she is starting back for a "tune up" this week? I find it interesting but it can be subjective.

Mary: our weather is always horrible on Memorial Day. Seen a lot of campers going to the mountains to freeze their butts off. We can have snow in the mountains any month of the years. Yes, it has snowed on the 4th of July. The year dh and I got married our outdoor wedding was moved because of the snow and it was June 5th. So on the plains we can get the snow into June and as early as August as well. We didn't have a WW meeting but did have weigh in. They didn't charge us. Told me I could come back to the later meeting if I wanted. Many of us just talked around the scale. LOL Glad you can get in your exercise at work and even get paid to do it. LOL I am normally the only one in my office during the day so I can get a little in but I don't "count" it. It is my bonus.

Clipclop: Luckily I don't have to have chocolate but sounds like a great find. Great advice to Moonray!! WOW, 120lbs. I do think this is the 2nd..3rd...4th...5th..time around for most of us! We all just need to take it one day at a time.

Lookin: WOW...WOW...WOW!! Great advice too. You are smokin!!

Well, Baby is cryng, dh is pulling out what little hair he has left and I hear pitter patter of feets up stairs. SO I need to close quickly.

Everyone have a great day!!

Good Morning Partners !! Here's hoping you all have a wonderful Sunday. I actually slept in a bit this morning.. which is very unusual for me. So just enjoying my morning :coffee: and checking in to see how you are all doing.

Didn't get up to anything exciting yesterday, and today probably won't be much different. It is another warm morning, so will probably stay inside and stay cool. That is definately one thing I look forward to after losing the weight... not walking a few blocks and breaking out in a sweat because it is warm out.

HOTCUPOJAVA ~ how did those caged turtle circles go.. sounds like you get lots of mileage in during your shift.. good job ! Hope you get your extended long weekend and you get to go camping. Good luck with your WI :crossed:

LISA ~ great job on your loss of 1.5 lbs.. you have been doing so well on program.. keep it up you are inspiring the rest of us :cb:

PETRA ~ sounds like everyone is having great success with the Tanita scale.. and I sure you will have the same. The board seems to be pretty quiet on the weekends but then goes like wildfire during the week, so I don't think you scared anyone off :)

MOMX3 ~ i know what you mean about napping during the day, it tends to make me more tired then I started out being. Hope you have a wonderful BBQ and got a chance to get your exercise in as well.

CURLYLOCKS ~ great job on your hike !!

ANNIE ~ great job on the loss of 2 lbs :cp: This group seems to be losing consistently, that is great to see. Yes, it will be slow... but just think you have to live those days anyway.. and I know myself I would rather live them being healthy !

I found this quote that I thought I would share.. it seems to fit as we are all wishing this journey would go faster...

"Never give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway." ~ Unknown Author

Have a great day my friends and I will talk to you all soon :D

kpe 05-29-2005 01:00 PM

Hi everyone!! My name is Paige and I would like to join in. I participate in 2 other threads but they have been pretty slow lately. Although this is a very long thread everyone seems to be keeping up with it. It seems like a thread starts off strong and then in dewindles down. I was up bright and early this morining when a thunder storm came rolling in so I had time to check out your thread. Here are my stats:

Name: Paige
Age: Just turned 40 Ugh!!!
location: Texas
Marital status: married almost 12 years
highest weight: 298
current weight: 257
goal weight: 175
current size: 20/22
goal size: 10/12
kids: DS age 6 and DD age 4
pets: cocker spaniel
diet: WW since last week in January'05 I started a 15 week at work program and we had 21 people at work participating. Now that that program has ended I have been going to a WW center for the past 2 weeks with a friend from work.

My life is very hectic between work and running around with my kids that it has been difficult to find time for "me". Until a few months ago my life revolved around convenience. When we ate it usually was either handed to us through a window or arrived at out door. I have to say the biggest change has been that I am cooking probably for the first time!! I usually cook on the weekends and then freeze things for the week. Then each night I only have to heat it up and fix a salad or a veggie. I am still struggling with exerise but I am hoping to really get a handle on that. I have 10 weeks to really get this focused on before work gets hectic again. I have 2 slow weeks at work coming up and then a 6 week vacation and then 2 more slow weeks and then things will be crazy again. So I am hoping to get myself on a really good exercise routine so that when things get hectic again it will be easier to stick with it. As a matter of fact I am going to get Bob Greene's 12 week body makeover today while I am out. I hear it is a pretty intense program.

It amazes me that I let myself get to this point. I have achieved alot in my life and I often feel like a failure because I can't get a handle on my weight. My weight over shadows all my other accomplishments and it makes me sad to think that this is what often defines who I am through my eyes and those of others. My main motivation for losing this weight is for my kids. Thank god they don't have a weight problem and I want to keep it that way. They are also wanting me to take them to the pool and water parks...me in a swimsuit in public....not a chance in h***!!!!!!!! So I am on my way to a healthier me and next summer we will have a season pass to Splashtown!!!!!!
I am feeling really good about WW and it doesn't really even feel like dieting...it is just making better choices. I can have whatever I want as long as I count it or modify the ingredients.

Anyway....enough of my ramble! I look forward to getting to know all of you as we continue this journey!!

petra65 05-29-2005 04:32 PM

Welcome Paige. You will fit right in. There are several others doing WW on this thread. Don't be put off by the slow weekend either, this thread is very busy during the week.

I'm not having a good day. My program is fine, it is everything else. In fact, I have lost all the weight I gained while I was away or from TOM or whatever. I went to church at 8:00 and it was a good thing because I was reading and I didn't know it until I showed up. Then after church I decided to work in my yard for awhile. I have invisible fence for my dogs which is a nice thing most of the time but today it backfired on me. I decided it was a good day to get the dogs washed. I like to take them to a local pet store that has a dog wash (make the mess there rather than in your house). I decided to take Buddy, the Golden first but Kobe (the lab) was having a fit that he wasn't getting to go. Kobe decided to run into the street with his electronic collar on and got himself shocked. I then had to retrieve him and get him into the house, tail between his legs and all. Then when I came home with Buddy and was ready to take Kobe, I put his leash on and couldn't get him to leave the front porch. I tried and tried but that dog was not going anywhere! I guess it will be awhile before he leaves my property again and if I want him bathed it will have to be in my bathtub.

If that wasn't enough, I then decided to make lunch. I grilled some chicken breasts yesterday to make chicken salad today. I was chopping away and suddenly chopped my finger instead. I was bleeding like a stuck pig! I couldn't get it to stop. I went outside and my neighbor was working on his yard and I asked him to take me to the ER. After about an hour it finally stopped bleeding. They offered me a choice--stitches or glue. I took the glue because it is quicker. Hopefully there won't be anymore mishaps today.

Curlylocks--love the picture. I used to live in Charlottesville.

Lisa--I don't work with kids so I don't have much of an opinion on play therapy. I think some of our therapists who do work with kids use it. We have a whole play room set up. That is great of you to be raising your granddaughter.

Clipclop--another saying like that is from a Billy Joel song I like. "you know that when the truth is told, you can get what you want, or you can just get old." Try to have a little fun this weekend too, although I guess it isn't a holiday for you.

Everyone else, keep up the good work. I'll try not to chop any more fingers. Talk to you later.

Hey Paige... Ya know what U arent a failure at losing weight... Look at all the great changes u have made! U have your family eating healthier... Dont look back and torture yourself with blame... live for the moment.. just focus on each day at a time and the days will grown into months..

as far as the water park.... maybe its my old age of 44, but I have come to a conclusion... I am not going to put my life on hold till i can fit into a certain clothing size..

when i go places i see lots of people overweight.. some more than me some less... but we sure arent the only ones ... ...

SO id go this summer, wear ur suit with a big long t shirt if u are uncomfortable .. u would be surprised how many people are so worried about "how they look in their swimsuit" that they dont have time to worry about how u are looking in yours..

MoonRay 05-29-2005 08:45 PM

Looking2Loose- THANK YOU all of you, for your support and your kind words. I know I'm not alone and you all know more than anyone else what I'm going through. I know I can do this, we can all do this! 1 lb at a time.

congrats to all who lost weight! I'm going to wait untill the 13th for my next weigh in, I know I was bummed out and I didn't eat as healthy as I should have but I didn't binge I don't thing I can go back to eating junk like I did before.

Good Morning Partners !! Just a quick post this morning as I needed to let you all in on my good news.

I lost another 3.9 lbs. YAHOO give that girl a new flashly flower. :cb:

Paige ~ welcome to the group.. you will love it here !!

Petra ~ sounds like you had a run of bad luck yesterday.. hope your Kobe and your finger are doing better today. I also have a Kobe, but he is just a little terrier.

MoonRay ~ glad to see you posting again. You/We can do this !!

Okay I better get to work. Take care and keep on keeping on :)

AnnieRN 05-30-2005 10:53 AM

Good morning-

Well, I went way over my calories yesterday. I knew there'd be days like those, but I'm putting myself back up on the horse today. It's FINALLY a gorgeous day here. Hopefully the sunshine will bring me out of this mental funk I'm in. All I've seen for days and weeks is clouds and rain. :blah:

Welcome to the group Paige. This is a very supportive and encouraging group of gals.

Petra- Hope your finger is okay. Don't get discouraged about the weigh-in. That dreaded TOM does a number on our bodies.

Does everyone else find it easier to be good during the week versus the weekend? I find myself being very disciplined in my eating and exercise throughout the week, only to let myself "go" a little during the weekend. I'm mostly talking about food consumption versus exercise. I have been exercising everyday and feel like I'm doing good there, but yesterday! WOOO, I wanted to eat everything in site.

I mowed the lawn yesterday and I went way past my target heart rate to 174. :yikes: We have an incline to the yard which really pushed that workout of mowing the lawn into something more than JUST mowing a lawn. LOL

Anywho, I hope everyone has a superb day. :) :grouphug:

AnnieRN 05-30-2005 10:57 AM

ClipClop, you snuck in on me while I was typing! WAY TO GO! Congratulations on the 3.9!!

:cheer: :bravo:

Ummm, what's a flashy flower? :?:

momX3 05-30-2005 11:35 AM

Morning Ladies :coffee2:. Well I did'nt get my exercise in yesterday. Not feeling so well with TOM. I did'nt eat my best yesterday :cbg: but still did better then I normally would have so I'm not beating myself up to bad :rollpin:.

Curlylocks - Great job on the hike and an even better job on the attitude about not doing what you want because of the way you look ;). You are right!!!

Annie - way to go on the 2 lbs :cp:. I have the reverse problem on the weekend. My eating is usually fine but I don't want to exercise. Good for you getting right back on the horse.

Lisa - I hope you are getting some rest after watching the babies. I know they can keep you busy at our age .

Clipclop - That is a great quote and oh so true. Way to go on the 3.9 lbs :cb:. You are doing so well girlie!!!!

kpe - Welcome!! Welcome!! You sound alot like me in the way you describe yourself and the way you think others see you. Just know you are a beautiful person on the inside and out and you can come here with anything :grouphug:.

Petra - Oh My!!! What a horrible day you had :( . I hope things for you and your puppy are going better today. And to think you got hurt trying to make yourself something healthy :dizzy:.

Moon - Hi hun . You keep up your hard work. You are doing just fine.

I'll check in with you guys later. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

kpe 05-30-2005 12:58 PM

Thanks for the welcome!

Good morning ladies!!! Thank you all for the warm welcome. My son woke up early this morning so I played around changing my avatar/signature and even got brave enough to post a picture in my profile...that is a huge step for me!!

The weather has been rainy and probably will be for the next few weeks so we might take the kids to see a movie today. I think we are all getting cabin fever! The kids had wanted to go to the pool but it looks like mother nature isn't going to cooperate.

Petra-Your poor Kobe! I guess that is what they mean by learning the hard way!!! I don't know about your plan...but, I don't think fingers are on mine! I hope your finger is feeling better.

ClipClop- Congrats on the 3.9lbs!!! That is awesome!!

Annie- I find that I do better when I'm at work then I do at home. I don't know if it is due to too much free time or too many snacks (for the kids) around the house...but weekends are hard for me as well!!! I have had a hard time this weekend because it has been rainy and stormy so it has been hard to get out of the house and do anything. I didn't do to bad but I did 1point and 2point myself to death this weekend on stupid snacky foods.

curlylocks- Thanks for the encouragement...sometimes it just helps hearing someone else say what we really already know!!!

momx3- Don't let TOM get the best of you...hang in there.

Well I need to fix lunch for my crew so we can get a move on if we are going to get to the movie. I look forward to getting to know all of you better.
