Hey everybody  Has it ever been a bizzy week! Sheesh. I'm getting too old for this.

I have been Off Program since last week. I "plan" on getting back on track Thursday morning, which is my normal "get back on program day" but we shall see.

Godness Gracious.. this thread has gotten so popular if you miss one day you fall behind.. and more than that is an uh-oh.. I'm so sorry that I havent been on in soo long
things here are pretty hectic.. we had our house built and moved in on January 20,2005.. we had some family emergencies come up, so we are now just having our housewarming party
that my sister was "supposedly" going to throw for us, but it seems as if we are pretty much throwing it for ourselves.. (This is a Huge pain in my butt).. I'm not into crowds
so I'm dreading Sunday.. well I'm going to respond to the threads I missed one by one, so each person might have more that one reply.. please bear with me I've had a hectic couple
of days..

ClipClop: Yumm.. I love Bar-b-q... and since I live in Texas it's a huge food staple.. :queen:

Lisa WY: wow.. that is awesome!!! 6.5 lbs.. I am very very very proud of you.. keep up the great work..:queen:

Hotcupojava: I really did enjoy my cheat day.. I had 2 hamburger patties for breakfast, bean and cheese nachos for lunch, peanuts, steak and shrimp with a baked potato for dinner, and a
chocolate strawberry banana shake for dessert.. I think I ate enough junk for everyone.. but I got back on track Sunday.. I'm sorry to hear that you we're feeling down as you were writing
in your journal.. but don't fret.. we all believe in you and we know you can do it.. :queen:

momX3: I'm so proud of you for doing so well at the parties.. we all know how hard it is when people keep putting bad stuff in front of your face.. :queen:

ClipClop: don't feel bad about the bar-b-q.. if you want to eat something that bad, you have to.. cause if you deprive yourself of what you really want
you'll probably end up giving up.. you are doing so well.. I am very proud of you.:queen:

angel-eyes: oh geez.. men!!!.. but what can you do?? :queen:

Lisa WY: my sister is the same way.. we have to tell her that the time of the party is an hour earlier than it really is.. and sometimes she's still late.. ha ha.. :queen:

petra65: I used to be big in low carb-ing.. many people have different opinions on different diets, but i say if it works for you and it makes you feel better.. then go for it.. I support
you % 110.. and don't be afraid of sharing what you learn on low carb-ing you can talk about it all you want.. we are here to help each other, not to critisize.. :queen:

jennie934: Awesome job!!! 2.2lbs.. wonderful.. you go girl!! :queen:

~~Sunshine~~: wow.. 26 lbs.. that is a huge accomplishment.. just imagine carrying a 20 lb bag of dry dog food.. that is very very impressive.. keep up the great work.. :queen:

AnnieRN: WELCOME!!.. so glad to have you hear.. the people on this board are the BEST.. make yourself at home.. I'm doing low fat low cal as well.. for the same reasons ( I can still have what I want to
eat, I just have to measure it and make sure I don't go over my totals.. 30 grams of fat and 1600 calories.. ) if you want to share anything or need any advice.. I'm here.. ..:queen:

momX2: glad to hear you are feeling better.. I read somewhere that bananas are good to eat at night, because they are heavy and they fill you up.. :queen:

petra65: I'm glad to hear that Protein Power is going well.. keep up the great work:queen:

momX3: awwww.. you're kids are lovely.. just absolute dolls.. I bet it's hard to tell them "no" sometimes.. ha ha:queen:

ClipClop: yay!!!! 6.1 lbs.. that is awesome!!.. you go girl.. we knew you could do it.. keep it up.. :queen:

kcaly61: awww he is gorgeous.. well worth the wait.. congrats again.. give him a kiss on the head for me.. :queen:

well ladies.. once again, it is way passed my bed time.. I've been real busy, but I've been sticking to my diet.. I feel bad because I havent had time to exercise but I'm still staying under my totals..
my weigh in is in a couple of hours.. and I'm kinda anxious and nervous at the same time.. I will let you know how it goes.. I hope you all have a great evening.. and I will talk to you tomorrow..

P.S. you are all Pic Chic Divas :queen: of the day..!!! keep up the great work..

deerod 05-17-2005 08:04 AM

Howdy Everyone!!!

had a busy day yesterday too! DIdn't get home until after 6 and still had to do the dinner thing. My biggest challenge with WW is getting in enough food. LOL I am close to 2 points lower so I do that but even with "cheating" a little on the number of points I came up short again. I feel like I am eating more food than before but it is a better food choice. I am having no problem getting my water in.

Deerod: I don't like big crowds either. I would rather not host family get togethers but our house is a little bigger and we have a fenced in yard. My sis in law lives out on the prarie and she will share hosting duties but the kids don't like playing at their house..too much open space. Good Luck today on your weigh in and hopefully you will be a big loser!!

Kclay: Just jump back on program. LIke a horse, you get thrown off, but you gotta get back on. The pictures are great!

Clipclop: AWESOME job!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mox3: Beautiful kids!! Mallissa has her own website. The link is www.princessmallissa.com You can check us all out on there. LOL I haven't updated since December.

Petra: Good luck on your new program and keep us updated on how it works.

Annie: Welcome, I sent you a message on the newbie board, I am glad you found us!! I am doing Weight Watchers and love it. You don't have to deny yourself what you want to eat you just have to figure it in. You also have to increase your activity. I like the accountablity of going to the meetings. If I am paying for something, I will do better.

Sunshine: Great job and wow on the 26lbs. It feels great doesn't it!!!

Angel: If you have all that energy and want to clean...my house needs it. I don't know why I clean before I have company. My house is trashed right now. The kids got chips on the floor and there are times I wished I had a dog. LOL I picked up the big messes but now need to refine the cleaning. I still haven't figured out how to get a certain 5 year old to get on track and at least leave a walk way between her door and the bed...that is all I ask. LOL

Anyone I missed..sorry..I am running out of time this morning. LOL On my way to work. Today is a nothing day...we have nothing after school..so I am making dinner. If dh doesn't get on the wagon and do some laundry there might be fireworks tonight. LOL Everyone have a great day!!

:D Good Day Everyone:

It is a crazy busy week so far. I am so sorry I have not had time to get all caught up. CONGRATS to my friends who were losers, my friends who were maintainers, and my friends who are sticking with their plan. You are all doing awesome. Lifes trials and tribulations sure have thrown us all some curve balls, but glad we are all hanging in there 2gether!! ;)

I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!!!

Also, welcome to Annie...Glad you found us.

I am in cubicle food prison uggh.. I work in medical transcription (11 years with the same company) in a cubefarm. Anywhoo...It is national medical transcription week which apparently converts to daily endless tables of sweets and treats, and treat baggies, and candy all over my desk, and donuts, and danish, and coffee cake, and chex mix. It has been a  of a week so far. But I passed up the donuts and bagels on my way to get ice for my water from the freezer, gave my candy and treat bag from my desk to my neighbor who is thin as a rail and could use some 'junk in her trunk.' So far....I am okay :( but it is HARD. I haven't touched anything except a 1x1 inch square of danish (which I measured with a ruler). I figured just have a small bite and be done with it. Then I did 2 flights of stairs and back just because I felt so guilty.

Thank you for :listen: I have no idea what I would do without you.

Hugs to all TTYS. :grouphug:

Hi Everyone, Good morning,
OK, morining, I wasn't able to excersie yesterday so I got up early this morning and did my step. My son is with me at work today, he has off for election day. I still havn't found time to fit my pedicure in. I worked so hard to lose the weight and now I can't find the time to get my reward. ohwell....at least I did it.

deerod, great loss. you must feel so good! It paid off not steping on the scale. such a big success!! I know you ussually do this but I'd say you are the PIC diva of the day!

Lisa, some times I feel that way to about the points. If you make all the right choices it takes a lot to eat all of that but make one wrong choice and your points are go. its a good feeling though when you have stay on track. keep up the good work.

kclay, we all get off program once it a while, just bruch it off and get back on.

Moonray, I love jicima in things at restraunts, I've never vetured into buying it at the store. how does it look? I'll have to try and get some

Clip Clop, 6.1 go head! that is so excelent! keep it up. you and deerod are my inspiration for the week.

Petra, how is the protein power? is it like SBD? keep up the good work.

Annie, welcome, I feel like you do, this is a problem we can fix and there is lots of support here to help us do it!

If I missed anyone, I'm sorry, I gotta get back to work....I'll check in later, can't wait to see how everyone is doing today. ;)

Annie, Your post on the Buddy Up forum.

""Ah, today's a bad day for me. Perhaps I should go for a walk and let myself calm down. I've only just begun this journey and it's not starting out too well. Under a bit of personal stress, as well. *takes deep breath*""

Annie,
Stress is a big factor for most of us to get at the weight we are at now. Now you have to use the stress for good. Right now I am stressing and obsessing over losing weight. Probably not anymore healthy. LOL

Right now you are probably feeling overwhelmed. If I look at the big picture, I am too. I take it into smaller steps. I have 108lbs to lose. My first goal is the 8lbs. Then I will look at it in 25lbs segments. Easier that way. Don't get caught up in the numbers..think about how much better you feel.

When I went to the doctor 3 weeks ago and was so sick it gave me a wake up call. Not a bad thing. I worry a lot about my health especially my kidneys. My sister had her kidney taken out last year becuase of cancer. It was a horrible surgery. When I went to doctor for the kidney infection I thought in my mind it would happen to me too. I also have diabetes in my family and I am scared of that too. I do have PCOS. I know I have to work harder to lose weight but it is not impossible.

These are some of the things I am doing different this week than I did 2 weeks ago.

I have drank gallons of water. I do let myself drink pop twice a day if I want it, the last few days, I haven't wanted it. The old me would of picked up a Mt. Dew and not think twice. Now I am drinking water and a few diet pops.

The old me would of went to the grocery store and bought tons of junk food. The new me enjoyed going to the grocery store and seeing what new things I could eat.

The old me would of ran by McDonald's this morning because Mallissa and I were running late. The new me took the time out for breakfast for both of us.

A little while ago when I went to the post office I would of circled the block to find parking in front. Today is a 60/60 day (our temps are 60 but our wind is 60) and I would of wanted to park out front. Today, I was hoping I could find a space on the next block to walk to get the mail. I also might of went by a fast food place on my way back to work for a snack. The new me knows I have some yummy rice cakes on the counter.

You are not going to change overnight. None of us are. We only can try our best everyday and change our way of thinking to be sucessful. None of us are going to go from not being active to running a marathon. ALthough my goal by the end of the summer is to walk in our last fund raiser before Fall.

Consentrate on what is good right now.

Hugs,
lisa

Hello everyone!!.. having some down time at work so I thought I would check in.. I'm just so stoked that I've lost 12 lbs.. I know it seems slow, but I don't feel deprived and I'm not wanting to give up.. my husband mentioned to me on sunday that maybe we should put our diets on hold until after the housewarming party.. and I must be honest and tell you that I did consider it.. but when monday came along.. I could'nt make myself cheat.. I wanted a taco so bad, but I had my pic angel on my shoulder telling me..:nono: no no no .. you can have a taco on sunday.. ha ha.. I feel guilty that I Havent had the time to excersize, but that is something that I will start up again after the housewarming party.. and I've also decided that in 2 weeks... I'm going to cut down on refined carbs... since I've been eating low fat, i've been eating a ton of pasta and sugar, and i think it might be slowing me down a bit.. I plan to eat a ton of veggies and fruits.. and sugarfree stuff.. and I'm turning my cheat day into a cheat meal.. I'm waiting 2 weeks to completly get into this because our housewarming party is this Sunday.. my b-day is Monday.. and my nephews 2nd b-day is next Saturday.. and that way I can make a slow transition if I take things out little by little...

looking2loose: good job on avoiding the sweet drugs.. that takes alot of willpower..

jennie934: sorry you havent found time to get your pedicure done.. maybe this weekend? and yes.. I feel good about my loss.. honestly I was hoping for a little more (who doesnt) but at least I got into the 250's.. and thanks for crowning me.. it means alot to me.

lisa WY: wow!!! .. that reply you gave to Annie brought tears to my eyes.. very motivational .. I am very proud of you and all the decisions you've made.. and I totally agree that alot of us get caught up in the numbers, and thats one of the main reasons I decided to only weigh once a month.. you keep up with all the great work you are doing.. and with that attitude.. I know you will reach your goal..

I'll check in with you all later..

momX3 05-17-2005 01:30 PM

Lisa - Laughed so hard about having a dog to clean up the messes because that is what we do. We have a rottweiler and when the baby is eating we let him outside. When she is done we say "bring in the vaccuum" and he cleans it all up. Oh and I'm loving the new you ;). What an inspiration to us all. Keep it up. Mallissa is beautiful by the way!!!

Jennie - good job on doing the step today and don't worry your reward will be there when you are ready :).

looking2lose - I'm so proud of you for not giving in to temptation. That is the hardest especially when everyone else is having it. You just want to smack them :s: but you are holding strong. Great Job!!

Dee - Girl I don't even know how to express how happy I am for you. You have been so strong :strong:. 12 pounds WOW!!!!!!! :encore: :encore:

Clipclop - Congrats on your first weigh in :goodscale 6.1 pounds. I knew you could do it :cb: :cb:. Keep up the good work!!

kclay - what a beautiful baby :bb:. You must be so proud . Thanks for sharing him with us.

Have a great day ladies.

Howdy Partners !!

I stopped to have my lunch, so thought I would take a minute to get caught up with the day's events. I have school tonight, so won't get a chance later.

Today is a weird day.. I am totally sticking to my points, but feel like I want something different. I get into food ruts where I eat the same thing day in and day out. I really need to toss things up a bit !!

KCLAY ~ hope all is well with you ! Your grandson is beautiful

DEEROD ~ Great Job !! You have been so dedicated and have kicked 12 lbs to the curb

LISA ~ I am with you on not getting enough food in on WW. I think I just need to plan better. I eat breaky at home and pack a lunch, but then I get home and eat dinner and find I have points left, and I don't feel like eating too much right before bed. Maybe I need to bring more snacks to work...

LOOKING2LOSE ~ more and more I think we work in the same place !! Right now there is a box of chocolates and a pick pack of peppermint patties on our common table. For some reason if someone wants chocolate they decide to bring some for everyone... they are driving me crazy :dizzy: I have managed to stay away from it, so am happy about that, but just wish it would disappear.

JENNIE ~ you will find the time to get your pedicure.. and will love it ! I don't know about you, but I always find time for everything else, except myself. I have been working on a list of rewards for myself.. that are not food related.. some suggestions.. a new CD, books, flowers, new PJs (i live in my pj's when at home), haircut, a day on the couch with a few movies.. You will think of something !

MOMX3 ~ hope you are having a great day !

Thanks to all of you for your congrats on my loss.. you are a great group of women.. very inspirational, motivating and supportive. I am glad to have found you all !! :o

Have a great day and TTYS.

Hi PIC Chicks

Sorry I've been MIA too. Worked a lot of hours on my days off. I guess I shouldn't complain, they've not given me much OT lately. I can always use the extra bucks.

My weigh in on Monday was great! I lost 5.25 pounds. I guess the unfair gain of last week and the two weeks of working very hard finally caught up to me.They asked me what I did to be this week's best loser. I said I did the exact same thing I did last week that resulted in a 2.5 gain! But at least now I'm glad I splurged and bought myself a pair of expensive tennis shoes. I'm so cheap, such a tight wad. It was only $40.00 bucks, but you could hear my wallet creak when I plopped that money down. Awesome looking silver Nike Air shoes, though. And after I got a nice loss, I feel like I deserved them.

A welcome to AnnieRN. Kclay61~ your grandson is GORGEOUS. I also saw some great looking kids on MomX3's profile. I know there are a bunch of you I've missed, but now that this over time is OVER and as soon as I get my house work caught back up, I'll be back full force. I hope you all are doing great. I LOVE THIS SITE AND THIS THREAD !

Thank you all for your wonderful words of encourgement! I never realized how having this much support would really motivate me to keep going.

Today so far has been a great day. I've kept my calorie count low. I'm going to start tracking my calories on Fitday, just to see where I'm at. I did exercise today and yesterday (Walk Away The Pounds- 1 mile). It's only been 2 days, and it's tough, tough, tough to get up and start exercising, but I am going to promise myself to do this and take accountability for myself to change.

I do have a few questions if anyone wants to lend their 2cents.

1) I never drank water (drank about 70 oz for the past 3 days) and all I find myself doing is going to the bathroom! :o Does this let up? LOL

2) I weighed myself this morning on my "home" scale and it's a whopping 17 lbs. lower than what the scale at my doctor's offce said last Friday. Now, I only go to the doc's office every 3 months. What would be the best way to weigh myself and keep track of my pounds lost? Shall I just use my home scale as a way to do this, even though I know it's incorrect?

I really do hope to get to know everyone here. I wish I had the time to just go back to page 1 of this thread and read everything, but there are a bazillon pages! LOL

And for all of you out there who've lost weight! Congrats. Hope I can join in on that statistic someday! :)

petra65 05-17-2005 08:27 PM

There have been some impressive losers on this thread! We seem to have some highly motivated ladies! You are all an inspiration. I also enjoyed all the pictures. Everyone's "babies" are beautiful. What a great group we have here.

This is going to be a very stressful week for me. I am going away next week and I think all 2000 of my patients want to be seen before I leave (I'm exaggerating a little) but it seems that way. You'd think I was going to be away for a month. I'll be exhausted by the time I get on that plane on Saturday. I'm also really nervous about this trip because it will be the first time since I start low carbing that I won't be in control of my food. I have some trail mix that I make with nuts and seeds that I can take and I found some shakes at GNC that I might be able to pack but I am going to have to make good choices eating out. I figure I can probably find eggs every morning for breakfast and a decent piece of meat or fish every night but lunch has me worried. Salads are probably the best option.

Someone asked about jicama. Jicama is a tuber like a potato. It is actually one of the lower carb vegetables and I recently made a recipe which included it. It tastes kind of like a cross between a potato and an apple. It is a large round brown vegetable that looks kind of like a big tulip bulb. In our grocery stores it is either near the other things that are grown underground like pototoes and onions or if there is a hispanic section it might be there. It is used a lot in hispanic cuisine. In fact, that was the type of recipe I used it in.

Jennie--Protein Power is actually more like Atkins than South Beach. My problems with Atkins is that it is really focused more on weight loss and not on good nutrition or health. There were no minimum nutritional requirements-just a carb restriction. And as I mentioned, you aren't very hungry on low carb so I had days on Atkins where I had trouble getting over 1000 calories which can't be good. In fact, it might be why I was having trouble losing. Anyway, Protein power has a carb restriction of 30-40 net carbs per day but also has a minimum protein requirement based on your "lean body mass". They also recommend a lot of fiber so you end up choosing your carbs wisely. There are some other nuances to the program but that's the basics. There is more of an emphasis on nutrition and you can't starve yourself even "accidentally". Hope that answers your questions.

MoonRay 05-17-2005 10:58 PM

WOW :bravo: we keep loosing weight left and right :cheer:

AnnieRN- Check if your scale is accurate and what the difference is between what you wear to your doc's office and at home when you weigh yourself you know like belt, shoes, etc. I'm going just by what the doctors scale says (for now)

deerod 05-18-2005 12:34 AM

hello ladies.. how is everyone?? I'm good.. very tired.. but good..

momX3 & Lisa: I have 2 chihuahuas.. I think I can use them as hand held vacs.. what do ya think?? ha ha lol..

momX3: thanks for the compliments.. it means soo much to me.. this is the strongest I've ever been on a diet, and I can hardly believe that it's already been a month.. my hubby and I we're talking in the car and he was asking me where I wanted to go for my b-day.. I decided that this little Roadhouse called Logans would be great.. (I love crispy foods) and they serve "chips" with your meals.. but they aren't chip chips.. they are like overly cooked fries.. and I loooooooovvvvveeeee them.. and then I was thinking.. woah.. wait a minute.. when was the last time I had french fries.. and you know what.. I can't remember.. It must have been at least a month ago even including cheat days.. and then I was like.. whoa.. i never even missed them.. I guess it is really true that you have to set your mind before you set your diet..

clipclop: good job on sticking with your points.. and I would suggest getting some new foods in there.. repetition causes bordem.. bordem causes snacking.. so lets not get bored.. and thanks for the dancing marshmallow man.. hopefully I wont look like that too much longer.. ha ha ha.. lol..

hotcupojava: 5.25 lbs.. that is AWESOME!!!.. and I must admit that it is hard for me to spend $40 dollars on a pair of shoes.. but yet it's easy for me to spend over $100.00 on my pets.. hmmm.. I think I need therapy.. now which one of ya'll is a "shrink".. lol j/k.. and YES.. you do deserve them..!!!.. keep up the great work..

AnnieRN: I love walk away the pounds.. except for the part where she starts talking and says something like "I better be quiet" and then she makes you do more of those leg lift thingies.. ha ha.. now about your questions.. 1).. yes.. the urge to pee that often does subside.. but you still have to pee more than you're used to now because the water cleanses your body and gets rid of toxins.. its a small price to pay.. 2) I would still use my home scale.. but just ad the 17 lb difference.. is your scale digital or the one that the numbers spin? or if you want to.. most clinics will let you go in to weigh yourself.. all you have to do is ask if you can use their scale and most of the ones I've been to, or worked at don't have a problem with it.. and if you don't want to do that, the third option is that you can just wait till your next doctors appointment and have your weigh in every 3 months. (oh.. and GNC's usually have scales that cost 50 cents but they give you a print out of your weight...

petra65: I hope you have a great trip.. and I'm sure you will do fine on your low carbing.. just look over to your shoulder and imagine the PIC ANGEL saying :nono: .. it sounds as if you pretty much have your dining schedule set.. maybe pack some beef/turkey jerky and pork skins with you to snack on.. and for lunch I used to love eating spinach salads.. that had spinach leaves, egg, bacon, cheese, onion, and ranch dressing.. or maybe go to a bar-b-q place.. ??

well.. it's getting late and I need to take a shower and get to bed.. (yes that funk you smell is coming from me..lol ).. oh wait.. dun duh da.. i'm pic chick diva of the day.. :queen: .. ;) .. well 1 month down and one month to go for my next weigh in.. i hope you all have a wonderful night.. and I cant wait to hear from you.. ttfn..
