Howdy All,
Just got back from swimming...I also got a really good walk in before swimming. I had a good day will explain that in a minute!

Ok, Dave had a dinner to go to (prime rib...bake potato and chocolate cake... all the good stuff) so Mallissa and I were on our own for dinner. We also had piano tonight so we did go to McDonalds. This was my first test. LOL I have been avoiding eating out since I started my program. I was busy at work today so I didn't get in my afternoon snack and ate a good lunch but it was a lite lunch point wise. So I planned my trip to McD's. I had the apple salad with only 1/2 the walnuts and a cheeseburger (the small one) OMG it tasted great!!! LOL BUT I WAS IN CONTROL!!!! Mallissa had the nugget meal with the apples so no fries to tempt me. Good girl, my daughter, who does prefer salads to any other food. Even with that for dinner, I was still short on points..if you can believe that, I still had 6 more points.

After dinner Mallissa and I had a nice walk around the park. It was such a beautiful day!!! I even worked up a sweat. The YMCA is next door so we to the locker rooms and changed for open swim. We had about 15 minutes so I got to sit in the hot tub. I love it. Then we swam for 1-1/2 hours which is a lot of exercise mixed in with my swimming and I am working on doing laps. I can make it across the pool and back! Yippee for me. On the way home, Mallissa wants icecream, everyone in town must of had the same thought because the 2 on the way home are packed so we go back to McD's. She got a McFlurry and I got a small ice cream cone. It is only 3 points and I was still under 3 points for the day. LOL Although I planned, I was still under points. I need to work on that.

Petra: good for you coming from foster care and becoming a success. I have always figured life happens and what you do with it is up to you!! Big Kudos! Very few of us are born with a silver spoon in our mouths and we discussed this recently on another group I am on, everyone's childhood sucks in some way but it makes you who you are! I have always said, good people can come from bad situations and bad people can come from good situations. Thanks for the heads up on the points that will come in handy.

Momx3: Laughter really is the best medicine. You will get through your problems they always have a way of working out. Hang in there!! My other motto is God never gives us more than we can handle but I sure wished he didn't like me so much! Big Hugs!! Hope you have a good WI tomorrow and measurements... nothing like losing a few lbs to pick you up!

Annie: Glad your strain is feeling better. We have to remember not to over do it. I have to remember I am not as young as I used to be and take it easy some. I am the type that goes at everything with all I got.

Deerod: WOW girl, you were put through the wringer but you came out strong. I have 6 brothers and sisters if you count my niece my parents raised, which I do. Everyone but one brother and me have drug addiction problems including my sister who has cancer. It is sad people have to live that way. Everyone thought I was crazy when I moved to Wyoming but the open spaces and the fact I can leave my car unlocked, go outside at night, and don't even lock my front door is a big plus to raise Mallissa.

Sunshine: I only officially go by my weight watcher scale. I think I lost this week...I can feel it. LOL The first couple of weeks you can see big losses. Once your body gets used to it again you do have to make some adjustments and the weight will slow down to 1 or 2 lbs. I think that is why WW don't let you adjust your points for exercise until the 3 week. Our weather heated up. I am so HAPPY!!

Mary: My office is an old house. Since I am the only one there most of the day I do lunges and run to the potty. The effects of drinking my water. LOL
I am a big believer in mixing up the exercise. I do enjoy the swimming and it is surely better than sitting on my big butt at the computer all night.

Jeannie: Hope you are feeling better!! Glad you took the afternoon off! Sometimes we just need that.

Moonray: Just drop by the docs office and ask to be weighed. IT is important to you they should do it. Hope you are a loser!!!!

Clipclop: It is amazing that I feel like I am eating more on program. I really am struggling to get all the points in. I do snack but I think I need more in my snacks. LOL I do love the rice cakes. It is also amazing how much better I feel being on program. My niece who teaches Mallissa piano (no I do not get a family discount. LOL) told me today, I look better. She said you must be losing some weight. LOL She said my face looked better and I looked more relaxed. I will take that as a compliment. LOL SHe is 6'2" tall and if she weighs a 100lbs she would have to be soaking wet. She gets that from Dave's mom so I am hoping those genes that skipped a generation with Dave and his sister fall right down on Mallissa. LOL

looking2lose: How are you today?

Kayclay: put the baby down. hehehehe. We miss you!!

Sherry: Just jump right in. YOu can address all, one or any of us.

Did I miss anyone?? WOHHOOOOO this thread is thriving!! If I did, it wasn't intential, just the thread ended on this page. LOL

Everyone have a GREAT FRIDAY...TGIF!!

Hi Everyone,
Well I'm back at work. I'm still not 100% but I'm not really all achey or anthing just congested. I'm going to try and get an easy walk in. not one of my high intensity workouts but something to start me back.

I am so touched reading all the post. So many of you are so strong and have gone threw so much. I feel really touched that I have found you all and we have gotten to know each other. I think because of all of the inner strength we share, we are definatley going to be able to achieve our goals. Even though we came here trying to find support to lose weight, we are able to find support in so many other parts of our lives. This is really a great group. :D

I hope eveyone has a good friday.

:(Sorry For not posting for so long. I really miss you gals. Work has been :dizzy: crazy, and the home computer is not being very friendly (they are doing a lot of construction around our house).

Anywhoooo....I am very discouraged :kickcan: I stepped on the scale this morning, couldnt stand the wait because I felt I was doing so well with exercising every day and eating low cal, low carb, low fat, low salt, passing up all that junk at work.....and it said 281. I busted my butt all this time, drinking water and watching every single thing, and journaling.

I thought, maybe the scale is not adjusted right, so I weighed a 5-pound sack of flour, and it was 5 pounds. Still in disbelief I grabbed a 37-pound sealed pail of cat litter, and it was 37 pounds. It just sort of blew me out of the water. I worked so hard to get to 277, and here I stand on a scale and it reads 281!!!

I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I take a duiretic on a very low dose so as not to retain water, as I have for years, and it was working good but now for the last month I have bad edema in my legs, and my fingers are so puffy my rings don't fit, and I feel sloshy all over. I think I am retaining water, so apparently my spironolactone dose is too low. I have not had my TOM since last december. I am a medical mess and I am discouraged and could just cry, actually I already did. Anyways, I just made an appointment for next thursday in the afternoon. I am peeing like every 20 minutes with adjusting to the water. Something is not right. :?: I can just feel it.

Can someone say a little prayer for me? I need help. I just scarfed down a butterfinger (nice old habit creeping up)...and now I feel sick and icky.

Thank you all for listening, I really appreciate it. I will catch up soon (and no more emotional eating :nono: , I am heading out to hang out with my mom, she always makes me feel better).

Bless all you angels.

Lookin - It's so nice to hear from you even if you are down. We miss you :( .
Don't worry hun you will get it straighted out when you go to your appt. It sounds like you are definitely retaining water :dizzy:. You are going to be fine!! Don't give up on yourself 'cause we won't. It's like I have learned this week... This is were you can come to cry  as well as get cheered on :cp: :cb:. We are with you girl!!! Lean on us. Now chin up and a great big group hug :grouphug:

MoonRay 05-20-2005 02:37 PM

Looking- DON'T GIVE UP!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! it's only a minor set back I'm sure you'll get some answers from your doctor and you will see how it's only the extra water. But do your best not to give in to the candy temptation.

I went in to the clinic were my sister works to weigh myself but it was just too busy so I decided to wait, one month won't kill me :D It's probably better that way. I get kind of discouraged when the scale says I lost weight and I still look the same :( Well, except for my boobs :o they look like they are shrinking :(

I hope all of you are doing great :D not giving in to temptation :D and making healthy choices.

Lookin:

Don't get discouraged. I also have PCOS(un-dx until after my hystro at 30). I couldn't take TOM anymore.... I only would get one 3 times a year but it would almost lay me up..and then it wouldn't stop..so to the doc I go..D&C time. After 4 D&C's and a few other things..it wasn't worth it.

Doc just kept telling me to lose weight and I would get pg. Nope..did that 3 different times..didn't happen..all the fertility things..didn't happen. The hystro was the best thing I ever did. Never thought I was going to be a mom.

You can lose weight with PCOS and it does help with some of the symtoms but not all of them. You do have to exercise more than the average person to lose. Don't get discouraged by the scale. How do you feel? Better?? I have so much more energy now than I did 2 weeks ago. Look at all the good things that has happened in your life. Do a column and write down the good things you are doing. That is what is keeping me going. Last night it felt good to go to McD's and stay in control. The old me would of had a quarter pounder with cheese...but a cheeseburger gave me satifaction.

Go to the doctor and find out what is wrong but don't give up what you are doing now. It is worth it to yourself.

Hello everyone!! Oh boy am I exhausted I did sweatin to the oldies again! I have muscle hurting I did not know even existed!! LOL I also got a work out when I had to fight with the water hose today!! If saw it you would of laugh your butt off!! It was horrible!! I have the hose on one of those things that reel it up and it got twisted and turned and tucked it was a mess! Finally after fighting it for at least 30 minutes I got it undone!

Well hope everyone has a nice night and wonderful weekend!

Louie 05-20-2005 06:22 PM

Hi Everyone.. I have been so busy the past few days that I haven't had time to post, but have been lurking. I will take some time this weekend to get caught up with everyone.

and just in case I forget ... it is Deerod's birthday on Monday !!!

:hb: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEEROD :hb:

angel-eyes 05-20-2005 06:47 PM

Hey girls....wow, I miss a couple of days and 4 pages of posts later!!! uh, sorry, won't do that again any time soon. I now know that you're all a bunch of chatty cathy's!!!

I'm still trying to get re-motivated.....can't seem to stop the sweets and munchies. Wouldn't you know TOM is lurking..... I find it very inspirational to read all of your posts, really I do....I just have to get off my butt and excercise. It kills me to have a gym membership and not use it for the past few weeks. :?:

Momx3- I'm sorry to hear about your family's fight for cancer. I will definitely keep your inlaw in my thoughts and prayers.

Deerod- Awesome job on the 12lb weight loss !!!! WOOHOO!!! Inspiring 'behind the scenes' story on your family. It has obviously made you a stronger person.

Jennie- Poor you, back at work and still fighting all that nasty congestion in your head. Time for Vicks vaporub and a nice hot bath.

KClay- What a gorgeous baby!!...thanks for the pics

Looking2lose- Don't give up girl.....maybe your body is just shifting around muscle mass and don't underestimate all that you have worked so hard on lately. Next week you'll see a big jump in the scale.

petra65 05-20-2005 07:30 PM

Hi PIC angels. My scale likes me today. As you can see by my weight tracker, there is a new number on it. (I lost 3 lbs.) I guess Protein Power is agreeing with me.

Looking2lose--as you might recall, it took me 6 weeks to lose 1 lb but now things are moving again for me. I think my metabolism just had to adjust or something. Don't give up. I also think journaling was helpful, there were a few hidden carbs I was missing that I now am keeping track of. Are you still using the fit day program? You mentioned that you have PCOS. Are you on metformin?

My TOM is coming too and I had a craving for sweets today which really doesn't happen anymore so I went to GNC and bought low carb candy. What an interesting concept, right? Anyway, I could only eat a couple bites and it just about made me sick. The rest is in my refrigerator.

I've been trying to get ready for my trip. Cleaning out the fridge so I don't come home to a bunch of rotten food. Making sure there is enough doggie supplies. Ironing clothes, packing clothes, packing other stuff. I'm packing more food than I've ever packed for a trip before because I"m paranoid about not being able to find appropriate things to eat.

My plane leaves at 5 pm tomorrow so I have some time to get things done in the morning. I'll try to catch up with you all before I leave.

momX3 05-20-2005 07:51 PM

Petra - 3 Pounds :bravo: :cheer:. That is awesome girlie keep it up!!! Have a great time on your trip. We will miss you.

Angel - You will get there when you can :) .

Sunshine - would have loved to see you wrestle the hose . Bet you got a good workout.

Went to curves this morning for my weigh and measure and I lost another 5 pounds so thats 11 for the month. Actually the 25th will be a full month but who's counting... not me really . Anyway I was disappointed at my inches lost. I only lost in my bust, hips and arms (1 inch total all together )the other places I stayed the same. However my Body Fat % went down 0.90% which is good and means I lost 7.06 pounds of body fat  so I'll take it and hope the inches come off next time. Maybe it will be some outrageous amount like 15 inches lost next month to make up for this month  :D ;).

Hope everyone has a great night.

AnnieRN 05-20-2005 09:00 PM

Holy moly! I can't possibly keep up with responding to everyone everyday. As I've said before, I can't believe how busy this thread is.

I've read through all the posts and each time I do, I stay motivated towards my goal. I've had another great day. I did exercise this morning (started doing it in the mornings, as I find it easier on my schedule.) I did have a Perkins Chicken BLT Bread Bowl Salad for lunch today, but haven't eaten anything since. I have no ideas how many calories are in that, but with the bread and dressing alone, I'm guessing around 1000. Didn't drink as much water today, but I did get in about 64oz.

I'm so glad everyone continues to be motivated and again congradulations on everyone who's lost weight.

Lookin- Don't start to feel guilty about a few bad diet choices. I've done that so many times that it sets me up for failure EVERYTIME. Guilt is the biggest thing for me. Just hop right back at it tomorrow and forget about what you can't change. Keep your sights high, work hard, and good things will happen.

Momx- Gonna stop and Bed, Bath and Beyond this weekend to check out the Tanita scales. I've heard of them before and they sound like accurate scales.

Petra- Way to go on the 3lb loss! I can't wait to weight myself again. My current scale sucks rocks, but am planning on investing this weekend! CONGRADS!

Hello Angel Eyes. New to this thread and love it! :)

Lisa- Also way to go at Mickey D's! Just the smell of those fries send my salivary glands into overtime! Great job! :)

Jennie- Still feeling down? How long has this been going on? Probably just viral and will run it's course, but if it lasts longer than 7 days, you may need an antibiotic. GET WELL SOON!

Sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great weekend!

petra65 05-21-2005 11:34 AM

Well ladies, I'm almost packed. I have all my snacks packed, and my carb counter and a journal to write everything down so I can put it in Fitday when I get back. And of course I packed clothes, and books to read and all the usual stuff.

Maybe other people who travel already figured this out and I'm just a little slow but I packed all my clothes in the same color palette so I can mix and match and don't have to pack 5 pairs of shoes. It seems to be a great idea. For a change, my suitcase isn't overflowing.

I will miss you all, I don't know if I will be able to read all the posts when I get back but I'll do my best. Happy birthday deerod! since I won't be here Monday. Everyone keep up the good work. Talk to you next weekend.

Howdy PIC's

Just a fly by again. Walked a mile on the new office gym's treadmill from eleven-thirty last night until midnight. I merely went in to learn how to use it (mine at home doesn't have a motor) and it looks like the cockpit of jet fighter. But I ended up being coerced into walking a mile by the guy who fancies himself a personal trainer.

This morning, I was going to meet a fellow TOPS member for a walk, but she said it was too cold and we ended up chatting for an hour and a half on the phone. :o Oh the things I could have gotten done in that time. Shame on me! Gotta fly, need to exercise before I shower for work. I'll address you all from work as I'm a captive audience there. Petra.. I'll wish you a "bon voyage" since I might not be on before you leave. You other PIC CHICK PIC's, I'll get to you later today. Hang in there folks and enjoy your week ends! :smug:
