We just got back from a weekend getaway! The Beast of The East conference was in Killington, VT. It is a weekend of motorcycle awareness and legislation help sponsored by the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.
We rode there...cause we would have felt like big Sallies if we didn't..but it rained the whole way there and the whole way home (its about 90 miles south of us). I have never seen my bike so dirty!
We rode down with two friends, made new friends and got lots of good information to pump fresh ideas into our MRO. Vermont doens't even have an ABATE; we are going to see what we can do about that!
I ate not too crazy, but drank...and drank...and drank!!! Oh man. Well back to the program tomorrow
It's so great to know that this is just the beginning of our riding season. Woohoo!!
Jill, that party sounds great!! thanks for the pics!
"...cause we would have felt like big Sallies if we didn't..."
Wazzat? I think I missed something.
My weight is up- almost back to where it started this February. Guess that my program wasn't very good. I should have been on a better one to start with. Starting a different one soon.
There's only one way to do it. I know it. Eat less, exercise more.
The. End.
Put the ice pop D-O-W-N!!!
I feel like a real today.
I've been down and out for the count after oral surgery but the top of my mouth is finally fixed and hopefully the soreness will b gone soon. Limited on what I can eat, it has to be extremely soft as I still can't chew anything. Maybe the scale will show a drop again, lol.
Thanks for the kick holly.
I have another private lesson on the 13th of May and then I take the MSF class again on the 26th and 27th. I think my dh is trying to come up with new ideas to help me too. Meanwhile though the weekend was beautiful and would have been perfect for some riding I was too heavily medicated. Now they are calling for thunderstorms everyday this week. That figures.
SuGyong - I guess I could have said, "we would have felt like big wussies" I don't know if it's regional to here, or specific to motorcycling; but I've heard a couple guys in our group refer to each other as 'a big Sally' if the person didn't want to ride because it was raining, or kinda chilly.
I didn't make it up to Leesburg this past weekend. I wanted to, and my friend w/ the sportster was going to take me up there, but I ended up in bed with a beast of a stomach flu. I didn't get a thing done all weekend and I had to extend it because I was in no shape to work yesterday. It's in my calendar for next year, and my bf should have his license by then too so we can come across together!!!! yippie!
I haven't been on my scooter in a while - it's getting a brake job tomorrow. Finally. I've been rocking the Specialized ...no gas required. All that spin class is paying off, I pulled out the summer pants, they are all big/baggy from last year. I've been riding the bicycle to work 10 miles each way like 3 days a week. I really enjoy it - at least as long as the weather stays like spring. Once summer hits I'll head back to the air conditioned gym.
So cool to see new people in here - this is a rockin group of chicks! I need to catch up on posts, tho. I'll see how many pages back I have to go to catch up. I've missed alla y'all.
I tried to add some new after pics to link in my signature...I spent the longest time trying to shrink my pics enuf to attach before I gave up. I need a new posting space. Yahoo photos are annoying but they work.
Well I'm back on the ball again. It took me forever to get back to it, but I said no to everything today and have been pulling myself up by the bootstraps.
Yesterday is done. It's today that matters, right?
Hey Gina!!! good to hear from you YAY YAY YAY to those baggy shorts/pants!!! and WTG on your bicycling, you green girl you
SuG, yes, it's today that matters!! I was awful for the past two days. How one person can give in to cravings and then stick to yogurt and tuna the next day is beyond me, but that's me.
I've put about 500 miles on my bike in the few weeks we've been able to start. Sure feels good!
My husband was starting to regret his decision on getting whitewall tires, because they don't stay white for long but he bought a cleaner today that really does the trick.
On Tuesday we staged our first Vermont Storm the Statehouse. That's where motorcyclists visit their StateHouse (unannounced) and personally meet their representatives. We cornered our Senator, and gave info to our reps, and I left info for the Lt. Governor. We're already on a first-name basis with our Guv
We passed out bumper stickers and buttons ("I Ride and I Vote!") and I found a Statehouse cop that rides and wanted a button. I think it was a successful event for us, and hopefully it will increase in numbers each year.
My husband might be able to put my Cobra Light bar on this weekend!! sure hope so, it would be great to have that on before we leave for Myrtle Beach next Wednesday.
I haven't had a lot of time to post and this time of year don't expect too but I love coming by when I get a chance and reading how great everyone is doing. I had oral surgery a week ago and my mouth is still really sore and is going to take a lot of time to heal but that is ok. It limits my whole diet. Food has to be soft and mushy, unfortunately that leaves me with a lot of carbs and little protein. I've been eating peanut butter by the spoonful to try and get in the protein.
Here is something cool though, I am now a size 12. hehehehe. And I got 2 new shirts the other day and my 14 yr old tried them on even before I did. How cool is that? Now I am at the size where the dh says he will start helping pick out clothes.
I got to ride today but not on my bike. I drove about an hour and meet one of the women from another forum that I am on. She took me dirt bike riding on a little 125. The object was to put me on the bike and just let me go and see what I could do and that is exactly what we did. I had a blast and it is definitely a different feeling then riding on the street. I have a private lesson scheduled for next weekend and I am taking the MSF class again at the end of the month.
I'm 44 and my husband and I just started shopping for a touring motorcycle--he's ridden dirt bikes and we think we'd like to try just going out for a ride! I've never been a passenger or driver!
My first thought was about how my hair would look when we arrive to a destination (yes, I'm a bit vain!!) I wear my hair long (about mid-back) with bangs. I'm thinking I'll have to french braid and fluff the bangs (I'll be looking for a portable hair-dryer to help with the fluffing--did I mention I'm a little vain?!)
fluff until you look like you have an afro, then put the helmet on. It'll come out looking halfway normal.
Well, ladies, the big tournament came and went and we survived it. Didn't win, but we didn't come out looking like chumps, either. Now it's my turn. The net big one is in October, so I'm going to add jogging and lots and lots of practice to my regimen! (There is no regimen. *grin* But it's got jogging and practice, now!) :P
fluff until you look like you have an afro, then put the helmet on. It'll come out looking halfway normal.
good advice! Deborah, you might start out being disappointed about having slightly flat hair, but I hope that the thrill of the ride overrides that. Sometimes our best friend is a bandanna
SuG, congrats on placing above "chump" status
TWO days until we leave for Myrtle Beach!
I got weighed and measured at Curves today...so I get to move my ticker down a bit! I'm 163 and a half :rolleyes but I've lost almost 6 inches. Slowly but surely I'm getting down!
I've been buying my jeans from WalMart, their own brand. From last year I have Misses 13, which are a little snug in leg but good in waist (low rise). I can now wear a 'tall misses 10' but the regular 10 is too tight. And I have a size 14, from a different store, brand is "Ethyl" (??) that fit well around the waist but are too big in the butt.
