Just popping in real quick. Welcome Alicia. These girls are great. The dh and I both have Yamaha's here. He has an '86 FJ1200 and I have a '97 Virago
XV750. I've just started riding. He is the one who got me to ride. I have 3 kids. 2 daughters and a son. Anyway good luck with the weight.

Hey to everyone else. I definitely understand the busy summer months. I've upped my workouts too. I am now walking 2 1/3 miles a day in about 45 minutes time and am using my lunch hour for weight workouts at the gym. Gotta get more of this weight off the hubby's class reunion is the end of July. I want to look good.

Alicia!! Grannyish gets you there in one piece - so it's all good! Looking foward to hearing more from you.

Harleymom - on the son's wedding an especially maintaining thru it. Not easy to do with all that stress.

Wannabsexy - You'll get more comfy the more you ride. And keep up the weight lifting - it makes a big difference.

Well my new tires came today - so I should get some good scooter riding time in this weekend. I ride a 1981 Vespa P200E - but I'm sorta shopping for something bigger. DH rides a Suzuki 650 GS....I can't keep up. I'm a calorie counter who works out like a fiend...weight lifting, bicycling and spin classes. I've been slacking off lately with eating on plan - so this week has been buckling down. I'm cleaning out the processed foods for the most part - Lean Cuisine free! I just figured it was time for a change. I just read Jillian Michael's new book "Making the Cut"...I haven't officially started the workouts from the book but I figured my biggest problem is what I've been eating.
I'm heading back to Mexico for vacation in the end of June - so it's a good goal to work towards.

Hi ladies! welcome Alicia!! That's a nice bike you've got, the FZ-6. congrats!

I was afraid to weigh myself after our trip, but I was so happy to see I'm still hovering around 163-162. That shows me, that I could be doing SO MUCH BETTER if I applied myself. Because if I can stay at this weight with just going to Curves 5X a week, and not having any discipline with eating, I can lose if I eat better and less, and go back to doing exercise at home.

wannab, Yay to you for getting up early to work out, and using your lunch hour!!! I have no excuse , especially that it's light so early. I have got to do that!

Harleymom, congrats on your son's wedding!! I bet it was wonderful but also a relief that it's done.

Hey Gina! congrats on the new skins

calling our other chicks!!!! they must be busy. come say hey!

Our group's Poker Run was Saturday, and it was such a poor turnout. Just our regular core of members, and a few others. And it was supposed to be the fundraiser for our scholarships. We don't know what to do to get our members to our functions! The weather could have been better, it was cloudy with a chance of rain, but it didn't rain, and crap, we're bikers, we ride in rain.

About to have some yogurt for breakfast, then pick a video to do here; then gonna meet dh for lunch (something light for me) then go to Curves.

Welcome to the group Alicia! It is good to hear from everyone. Where is Jill and Reb? It looks like they haven't posted in a while.

Son got back from honeymoon and has got some bug from Mexico. The doc put him on antibiotics and said he should start feeling better by one or two days. Poor baby still calls his mother when he is sick.

We had someone go down this weekend in our group we ride with. He is going to be fine but has some crazy road rash. It will be awhile before he is healed but thanks goodness he is OK, he was one of the few of us that had a helement on Saturday night. We where coming back from a little bike show they had and his front break locked up. Sparks went flying everywhere. New paint job got done about 2 weeks ago. Total bummer! We are just glad he is not hurt a lot worse! Of course the cops where just sure it was DUI, no one had been drinking so it was a good thing. They sure can be aggresive with motorcylcist. It makes me crazy.

We have several rides coming up. Yipppee! I love this time of year. We are doing a big one on June 16th. One of the local churches is trying to raise money for a youth center in Brighton because there is not a darn place for teenage kids to hang out in town. It is crazy how they are like you can't hang out and don't give them any place to go. Then they wonder why teenagers get into so much trouble. Anyhow looking forward to the run and it is a very good cause.

Well all have a good one and Keep on Keep'n on!

Hi Harlyemom!! gosh, sorry to hear of the rider who went down. I sure hope his injuries heal quickly, but also glad that it wasn't worse. And what a shame about the new paint job!

and too bad about your son getting a bug while in Me-hee-co. Hope he had fun up until that point

I am very glad to say that I did exactly what I said I would do today...I did a video at home (step and hand held weights) then had a light lunch, then went to Curves. I sure wish I could keep my workout shoes at Curves, it's a pain to have to remember them, and to pack them in the saddlebags each time. I did ask, but they said sorry, no.

There's at least one other lady who sometimes rides her bike to Curves, she has an 883 Sporty.

Yeah, where's Rebel, Jill, and 2frust??? some of our charter members! Hope they're having fun.

Default Hey!

I just joined. I was searching for biker chick avatars and stumbled on the site. Just so happens I was perusing for a diet site yesterday, so maybe this will be the answer.

I've been riding for almost 30 years and dieting just as long. Or longer. I see this thread started on my birthday a couple of years ago. I haven't read all hundred and something pages, but I do see the MSF course mentioned a lot in the beginning. I just became an instructor of the course. It's a lot of fun to teach and is the best way to learn. I learned to ride on a chopped Sportster and almost killed myself in the process. I now ride a 2001 Softail (not so) Standard, which I bought new and have almost 60,000 miles on.

I also saw some ladies mention Harley's 100th Anniversary. I went with my ex-fiance and we were in the parade. That was one of the highlights of my life. It was so cool. The whole week was awesome! Everyone in Milwaukee was wonderful.

I could talk about riding forever. I'm in the middle of packing up to take a test run with my new tent. I'm riding up to northern NH to spend the night in a campground. I'm stopping to have dinner with a friend of mine from a stepmom support site I'm a member of. I'm no longer a stepmom, but they still let me hang around. She had asked me if I was on any special diet. I told her that it's hard to be picky on the road, but I'm going to have to figure out what to do. I'm taking a solo trip to California in about 6 weeks and I tend to gain weight on the road. High calorie food and no exercise. It adds up.

Hot01 Welcome! I always recommend the riding course to everyone. I think no matter how long you've been out riding you could use the valuable information you get from it. I love that you teach class. I was taught by a women and I was so glad. She was wonderful! Chicks rule! It sounds like your old school. It is always neat to come across Chicks who has been riding before it was the thing to do!

Holly congrats on doing the tape and curves. You go girl!

My son has a neighbor that I see she is 18 or so year old pulling up in the drive way several times on her 883 Harley she is so cute. My Son told me she just started riding and is on that thing all the time. I can hardly wait to get my daughters on a bike. They are 16 years old but they aren't driving yet, the laws have gotten pretty strict in Colorado for teenage drivers.

I hope everyone is doing great. Keep on Keep'n on!

I just keep wishing I could be on mine all the time. Between the kids schedules and the weather it seems like I just can't get the time in the saddle and I really really want to be learning more.

I think the MSF class is great and that every new rider should be required to take it. There is just so much information and so much to learn. I know that I am so glad that I took it. After all the dh wasn't much help. No, I shouldn't say that, he just got furstrated and it was hard for him to teach but he did some and with a couple of private lessons and the class I feel so good about being on the bike now.

So here's an example of how the road kills me. I had dinner at my friend's and ended up staying at a different place because it was so cold last night. I knew I was going to be in the middle of nowhere and likely bears around, so I wanted to get something so I wouldn't be starving in the morning and something that wouldn't be attractive to bears. I bought some mixed nuts and some trail mix.

This morning, although I was freezing, I wasn't hungry. I had a couple of handfuls of trail mix so I could take my medicine and then rode out and ate breakfast. I ordered hash and eggs, not great, but I didn't eat a whole lot of it. When I got home a few hours later I was starving and ate all the trail mix and the mixed nuts. It must have been 1,000 calories. Now I'm hungry again, but I've already eaten too much.

Hey I know those days and they are tough to handle. On the days like that I let myself have the day off and eat. Then I get back on track the next day. You can't deprive yourself or you will find your self binge eating. Just eat healthier the rest of the day and find a way to pull some kind of quick workout. Even if you are just doing stuff in the yard or some heavy house cleaning with the music pumped up and dancing around.

hot01!!! A couple thoughts about food on the road. Maybe some fairly low calorie breakfast bars that have a decent amount of protein? I like Zone bars. Is there any such thing as a bear proof saddlebag? My theory to dealing with binge days is that once it's done, just go on with the day back on plan as if it didn't happen. As long as it doesn't happen very often, it shouldn't slow down weight loss much. It's the giving up because you feel like you failed that really tends to slow weight loss.

That's so you teach MSF - I wish cagers had to take some kind of Motorcycle awareness class - but the next best thing is that if at least the biker has a clue.

Harleymom - hope the road rash guy is healing well - such a drag when someone goes down.

Holly - I totally hear you on the thought that if you can maintain on what you are doing.....that's pretty much where I'm at. I have been slowly taking out the processed foods, the hardest to let go has been the stuff sweetened with Splenda...I'm taking it a few things at a time. Lean Cuisines went first.

I'm holding off on the shopping for a bike for a bit, I just applied for a new job. The signing bonus will pay for a great bike. I just have to get the job first. Still getting plenty of scooter time in.

A belated Welcome to hot01! How does one become an MSF Instructor? that is so kewl!

Gina - when will you know about the new job? crossing my fingers for you!

Hi Harlyemom! been able to ride lately? Hi wannabe! Hope you can get out also.

My odometer just passed 18,000 for my '06 I'm so lucky that I can use my bike to commute. Its a great fringe benefit

the last three miles of my commute is a dirt road, and there's assorted wildlife around. Thank goodness I've always been able to spot the deer, so it's mostly little critters that run across the road, like chipmunks! One ran into the road, and then did the crazy indecision thing - first darted to the right, then the left...by this time I was almost upon him, but did miss him by about 4 inches. But then I imagined the poor thing having heart failure from the scare and toppling over

Oh! shall I be a meanie and tell what I made at work today? (i'm a pastry cook/baker) We had to put on a 'special' meal tonight (not the usual crap ) so my dessert offering was a Trio of Miniature Pastries. One large dinner plate with; a mini eclair, set upon a squiggle of chocolate sauce; a lemon-blueberry tart diamond set upon a blueberry coulis; and a mini coffee toffee cream puff, with almond praline sprinkled over. What a lot of work it was! We only had 40 reservations, but it was like doing the regular dessert preparation but times 3.

I've been doing well for the past couple of days (finally!) I want so so much to break the 160 mark. Still stubbornly clinging to 163-163. It would mean so much to get into the 150's. I know I can do it, I just have to get along wtih the feeling that I'm not depriving myself of anything, I'm doing something that I want more than anything! Oh, and I also want to get my name up on the Curves wall, that happens when you lose 10 pounds or 10 inches.

We might do a quick trip to Laconia for the end of Bike Week, it's all weather dependent. Would kinda stink to have to camp in the rain.

take care ladies!!

Hi all! Big ride this weekend. So excited it is suppose to be 90 degress and we are riding the in mountains so it will be a great day for a ride. It is a benefit ride to raise money for a youth center. Good cause!

Holly those desserts sound so yummy! They do sound like a whole lot of work. If you lived near by I'd hire you to do some parties! Keep working hard and you'll get down to the 150's range.

Hey all have a great weekend and hopefully you'll all be out riding! Keep on Keep'n on ALL you hot biker babes!

Not getting to do any riding here to much rain. That is all it does anymore is freaking rain. I am never going to be ready to ride in Tellico if this keeps up.

Those desserts sound entirely too decadent. I would be in trouble, lol.
