My name is Carrie. I am a 33 year old mom to 3 kids and I am trying so hard to get BACK into ONEderland! I started this journey in August 2006 at 285. By September 2007 I was down to 195! 2008 proved to be a very stressful year and I've yo-yoed between the 195 and all the way back up to 225 at one point (yikes!). I was doing well at the beginning of this year and was back down to 210 with ONEderland in sight.
In the end of January, I went to the doctor and decided to start on the NuvaRing and ditch my BC pills. Boy - - was that a bad idea! I gained 9 lb in 2 weeks (while watching my POINTS and hitting the gym, which I hadn't done before in all of this). I tried and tried (and cried and cried), but the weight wouldn't budge. I had about had it with even trying when on Tuesday this week I sat down at the computer to do some research on better prices for the ring. I found a website about the side effects. I was suprised to find out that weight gain was a huge side effect (pardon the pun) of the NuvaRing for some people! One girl gained 30 lb the first month! I also found out that it's not entirely effective in women that weigh over 160 lb. Oh NO! Needless to say, I pulled that thing out that day and restarted the pills.
So, to make a long story short (even though it may be too late at this point), I plan to keep at the points and weigh myself on Sunday to see if there is any change. I plan to update my ticker on Sunday and I hope that I can move forward and on to ONEderland.
So, I think what I'm asking is if it's ok to join this little corner of the forum? I don't have a lot of weight loss support at home and I really think that a good group of cheerleaders can make a difference. Thanks!
Carrie
PS...I also watch TBL and was very upset that they dragged out that weigh in like that! Boo!
Hi Carrie! I'm new too, this is my first day on this thread but thought I'd welcome you anyways....
Wow - thanks for the info on the nuvaring, I was actually thinking of getting that!! No way now! haha Actually DH & I might be trying for #2 sometime soon now anyways. I am sort of nervous to lose weight and then regain it...but hey I want to be as healthy as possible for my next pregnancy, and I'm not going to go crazy and gain 55 lbs like I did last time!
Welcome Liz !!! I follow the same plan as you, I just count calories, usually between 1500-1600 and exercise...seems to come off pretty nicely when I do that...plus i watch my carbs since I am a diabetic ...good luck!!!
Welcome Carrie !! I am also a Carri but with no "e", ha ha ...we would love to have you !!!
Arabella - we have a couple of new members, new life to our little thread, ha ha
Auntie G - we miss you!!!
Well I just had my lunch, I had a pepperoni pizza from lean cuisine and some grapes...so on board for now...had a little rough day yesterday, went over calories a little but oh well today is a new day !!!!! I figure with my 5 pound loss last week I can have a little cheat...
p.s. I am on Seasonique, the one where you take pills constantly for three mos and only have your period every three mos, and I LOVE it !!!!!!! Just my two cents, ha ha
Hi Liz! Looks like we're joining this group together. Your baby is so cute! What part of Ontario are you from? My best friend is from Brantford and we vacation in Bayfield in the summers.
Thanks for the welcome Carri (that's hard, not to type the e )! I'm in Indiana too! I haven't heard of Seasonique. I've had such a hard time with pills, I get moody on some and gain weight on others. Do you have any side effects with that one?
I'm on WW, so it's really not too different from calorie counting. I had a Lean Cuisine Chicken Carbonara and a light cheese stick for lunch, so I'm doing well today. I will admit that breakfast was a cookie dough Pop-Tart that my daughter didn't eat, so, while it does fit into the POINTS, it wasn't really a healthy choice!
no, I have not had any side effects from it...the first pill pack ( or the first three mos ) I had some break through bleeding which is normal but after that I was fine...
Carrie - Thanks! I'm from Burlington, about 45 minutes west of Toronto, only about 1/2 hour from Brantford. Yes we can be the newbies together!! How old are your kids? I've done points before and I find it just the same as calorie counting, both work (as long as you stay in your calorie or point range, that is! haha)
Carri - Thanks for the welcome! How are the lean cuisine pizzas? I was going to maybe try those.
So far so good today, I work from home so sometimes temptations can be difficult to overcome. I don't keep sweets in the house but they're not really my downfall anyways....just eating too much of regular food. After the little one is in bed tonight I am planning on doing the treadmill. I bought a small tv to keep in my exercise room downstairs, so I'm not so bored doing it now. Hopefully that will keep me motivated. I'm looking foward to warmer weather so I can do more stuff outside.
Happy Friday! Oh, do I need a weekend! Gotta be quick or I'll be late for work, but just wanted to check in now, in case I don't get time later...
Arabella, here's to a great Day 5! And congrats on another good haircut! Talk about it all you want...
Carri, yeah, don't worry about a "little" cheat. You're on a roll now. That 5 lb loss will keep you motivated!
Liz, welcome aboard! Congrats on your loss so far, and good luck! (Oh, and I love the Lean Cuisine pizzas...)
Carrie, welcome to you, too!! I am doing WW, too, without going to meetings this time around. Sounds like it was a brilliant idea to ditch the NuvaRing. You're doing great!
Oh, I'm making myself late for work now anyway! Have a great day everyone!
Well my official loss is 4 lbs. woo hoo! I've got a challenge today though, we're going out to dinner with my sister and her husband to a mexican restaurant. Anyone know anything relatively low in calories I could eat there?? I have no idea - I never eat Mexican.
AND I took myself back to WW this a.m. I'm precisely where I was when I weighed in in January. Ah well, onward and downward. I signed on for six months. At 1.7 a week, that'll get me to goal. And if I can get up towards 2 a week, that would take me well beyond. I can do that! If those people on BL can have those INSANE losses every week, I can get 2 a week off. I just have to find ways to squeeze in more exercise, get more high-intensity workouts in, be more careful with the food.
Hey Carrie! Holy smokes -- you'd almost think they might have warned you about that little side effect, huh?
Liz, my husband was born in Brantford and grew up in Toronto.
Carri, thanks for friending me!
Auntie g, it's wonderful to have you back. And the thread seems to be hoppin' again, huh.
All right, Goilies, let's take this day we've been given and make it work for us!
Carri - I am in Greenfield, we aren't far from each other at all! I work in Indy, at about 46th and Keystone, so that is even closer to where you are! I only work in the office a couple days a week and from home the rest, so I'm up there twice a week.
Liz - First, congratulations on the 4 lb loss! My kids are 10, 8, and 6. They are all in different activities, so they keep me running all the time. Enjoy the time when they're little, it flies by and before you know it there are little girls calling the house! I love LC Pizzas! There is a mushroom flatbread one that is wonderful, in fact, I'm having one for lunch today! As for the Mexican food, staying out of the chips is always my biggest challenge. I usually get an ala cart chicken soft taco and load it up with lots of extra salsa. It's about 6 points (300 caloriesish), and one fills me up as long as I drink a lot of water or Diet Coke. Good Luck!
Auntie G - Thanks! I see that you've busted the ONEderland barrier, congrats!
Hi Arabella! Yeah, you'd think that the doctor would have noticed that and let me in on the secret!
Today is a work at home day, those are always easier when it comes to staying on plan. It's also a weekend when my kids are at home (I'm divorced and they spend every other weekend with their Dad), so that makes it less tempting to go out too! My daughter is having a sleep over and they want to go to the sushi place, so we may do that tonight. Hope everyone has a great day!

Reason: forgot something
Morning Everyone ...so good to have some added friends on here to help eachother all get into Onederland!!!!
I had a good day yesterday, I didnt end up exercising but did play tennis and bowling on the wii and that does work up a sweat so maybe I did get some exercise
We are going to Joes Crabshack on Sunday for my fil's bday so I am wondering what I will be eating there, I know I can have my crab legs just maybe not so much drawn butter as I normally have, or at all, ha ha
Carrie - wow we are very close...I actually work in Carmel and live in Westfield...but yeah ask your doc about the Seasonique, I would highly recommend it.
Arabella - yes, thanks for being my friend too - on both fb and here, ha ha...
WW is a great way to lose weight, so good luck with that this week.
Auntie G - Hope you have a great weekend
Liz - congrats on the 4 pounds...whenever I go to a mexican rest I get just chicken soft tacos ( like 2 ) with no rice or beans, or just get one taco if you want either some rice or beans...ask them for just lettuce and chicken in the taco, no cheese, then you can put salsa on it if it is too dry...good luck !!!
Okay well in case I dont pop back in over the weekend ( I am bad about that ) I hope you all have a great weekend, stay strong and stay on plan...we are all gonna do this !!!!
I'm beyond thrilled to have gotten to this point. YAY! I'm on track! I'm having a dinner party tonight but I'm totally planning every bite I'm going to eat and tracking the points. No surprises!
Walked to tai chi class and back, so now I've got my steps in, too. Yesterday I did 30 min I'm thinking adding some higher intensity stuff will help me speed this loss up.
I weighed in this morning and I lost 2.5 lb of the 9 that I gained while on the NuvaRing! I took it out on Tuesday, so I'm ok with that for a loss. I had hoped for more, but this is much better than two weeks in a row of gaining and not knowing why. I adjusted my ticker back up to accurately reflect my weight, but no more up! Downward from here!
Hope that everyone is having a good weekend and staying on plan. We're going out to breakfast today, so it may be a rough day.
Hey ladies!! Hope everyone's having a good weekend. So far so good for me, DH was asking for chinese last night and I said no way!! lol We ended up splitting a frozen pizza with salad, it fit in my calories so yay!
Carrie - Good luck at breakfast! Breakfast is one of my hard ones, DH and I love to go out and have big ones now and then. And good luck on the 2.5 lbs!! YAY!
I have not been exercising - I need to get on that!! Today is supposed to be beautiful, I'm going to get out there and move!
