Hi Ladies!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We have the annual Oyster Fest going on here this weekend, so I'm sure I'll be eating my share raw (though I'd really love them fried!)

LOL PrairieQueen on the games ... that really made me chuckle thanks

Carol Sue, I'm having my son make his baked beans for dinner tonight. He uses Bush's vegetarian baked beans (my husband doesn't eat pork), I eat just about anything he adds green pepper, onion and ground beef. I'll also cut up some beef hot dogs and put them in there for my everyone else except my oldest son. He will only eat the hot dogs no type of bean at all. He says beans and peas feel weird in his mouth (I wonder who he gets that from? ) I never thought about adding pasta to chili. Is it good? I wonder if my husband will eat it? It took some convincing to get him to eat white chicken chili but he likes it. The only other thing that he won't eat other than pork is breakfast for dinner. But he'll eat a pack of nutter butters, butter pecan ice cream and chips as a dinner if no one cooks, silly man That's a great idea for browning meat. I know your hubby won't eat it. He doesn't eat left overs. My husband will eat what I send out of the door with him. When he calls me at night/my morning I'll ask him how was dinner? He used to never complain about anything now he goes into detail about the way something taste and I'm thinking "but you don't cook so how do you know what more it could have had!?" oh well ... he still ate it Wrap the meat!! you all are a woot

Jacqui have you almost finished with the restoration of the house from the renters? See you tomorrow Don't work too hard.

Eww Melissa, raw oysters!!! Not for me! We frequent a seafood buffet and I have had the Oysters Rockefeller but not the Oysters on the Half Shell. We saw one guy fill up his plate and just slurp them right down! My mother used to chop up canned oysters and put them in her stuffing, but they were chopped so small we couldn't tell them were in there, although we knew. LOL But if you like them, you can have my share. Enjoy!

Rennie, we don't like the little piece of fatty pork that they put in pork and beans, but I buy Bush's Boston Style and it doesn't have it in there. When I make them, I rinse mine in hot water to get the sugary sauce off. It still retains the flavor. The best I've had was my mother's home-made from dry beans, but that's too much work for just 2 people.

My step-children were pretty good eaters. They ate most anything I made, but now that they are out on their own they say they hate liver, but ate it almost weekly when they lived at home. And my step-son said he will never again eat Tuna Noodle Casserole. DH won't eat liver anymore either, but I keep some in the freezer and cook it for myself when I make something different for him.

DH will not eat breakfast for dinner, or dinner for breakfast, but also eats all the cookies and cakes he can get his hands on. We have gone out to a restaurant for dinner and he has ordered an order of french fries and a slice of pie. LOL Never had a weight problem, either.

ZCA72, good for you on the .2 loss. I use a balance beam scale and I never count partial pounds. I either go up a pound or down a pound. I have an electronic scale that measures tenths. Maybe I'll get some batteries and use that for a while and see what the difference is.

Hi to Jacqui, PQ, SeeMyFeet!

I haven't seen Trish (Pattygirl) here for a while, but have talked with her on the Diabetes thread.

What a lazy day today, but I did get a few errands completed. I made yogurt and went to the dairy for milk. Hubs and I are sat on the sofa with our cats on our laps and the dogs at our feet. It was a miserable cold and wet day here in Ohio, but sun and 60s next week.

Break - leftover pizza
Lunch - 3 strips bacon, pineapple spears
Dinner - spinach salad, ribeye w/creamy bourbon mushroom sauce

Hi everyone. I've been reading your threads since last year and January 1, I took the leap and cut the carbs! I've read all of your stories and feel like I know you. I went low carb four years ago and the weight literally fell off of me. In January of 2014, I quit smoking and on piled 45 pounds in about a year. I told myself that I did good by quitting smoking but dang I got fat!!!! Built like an apple....stick person legs and arms and big round middle. Ugh!!!! I was a sugar fiend and LOVED potatoes and pasta and bread, bread, bread. Then, I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroiditis) and my thyroid crapped out. I need to get support and give it too. The weight is coming off but oh so slowly it is aggravating. After 9 weeks in 2012 when I went low carb, I'd lost 20 pounds. I was losing an average of two pounds a week. Now, I'm lucky if I lose a half pound. It is so frustrating. Not sure if it's my thyroid because my numbers are really great (I educated myself and don't just take the doctor's word for it when he says "everything looks normal."). My thyroid function is in optimal range with medication but this weight is barely moving. I was also pre-diabetic so I know that low carb works for me and is really the way I need to eat for the rest of my life (my dad was diabetic as well as my fraternal grandmother). Anyway, that's just a little about me....except I want to get back in my pretty clothes I bought when I got skinny 4 years ago!

Happy Sunday Everyone

Hi LEELEE and to the thread ... You'll get great support here, our thread leader Jacqui is wonderful, glad to have you

Carol Sue I use to eat pork n beans growing up. Campbell's brand. My dad always bought them, he would take the little piece of pork out also and add to them. Whatever he cooked was good in my opinion I only buy the vegetarian flavor because I know they aren't cooked with any pork. My mom has always said that it doesn't matter what he doesn't know won't hurt him but I feel that is just wrong. I stand strong on do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I feel like your step son where roast is concerned. We had roast every Sunday when I was growing up so I just don't make it. I have when my husband mentioned something about one a few times when we seem one on sale but other than that I skip right over that meal LOL on husbands and their dinners

Hi ladies!

Popping in to ask a quick question. Have any of you experienced a problem with yeast infections since starting a low carb woe?

Hey Melissa - I've never had many yeast infections in my life (knock on wood). Hope someone can give you an answer. It would seem to me that the less carbs and sugar you are eating, candida would be dying off! I'm not a medical professional so I could be all wrong. Just seems like common sense to me. Are you taking a probiotic?

Hi LeeLee. I too have not had a problem ever with yeast infections unless I was on antibiotics. No, I'm not on a probiotic. Should I look into that?

ZCA, a balance beam scale is what everyone refers to as a doctor's scale, with the little weight that you move back and forth across the beam to balance it. I wanted that because my belly was so big that when I stood on a scale I couldn't see past my belly to look down to see what I weigh. LOL One time I wanted to do a Diet Bet and you need a digital scale for that. DH bought one at Goodwill for a couple dollars but I never got around to putting batteries in it. They don't work well on carpet and my bathroom is too small to keep the scale in there all the time.

Rennie, I can't sneak anything over on my husband. He always comes in the kitchen to see what I'm doing. One time I ran out of ricotta cheese while making lasagna and I added some cottage cheese, which he won't eat. He ate it and never knew the difference. Then one time he got constipated from pain meds but wouldn't take some Miralax so I put it in Jello and he ate that. I know what you mean about "do unto others", but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. It's different with the pork and beans...you just don't buy that kind. I buy it once in a while when it's on sale, but just pick out the little piece of pork. I would just eat around it, but he makes me pick it out.

I forgot to answer you about the pasta in chili. I just add some cooked elbow macaroni. If you leave it in for a while it soaks up the flavor of the chili, but it just makes it a heartier meal. I take my portion out before I add the macaroni, but I've been known to eat some with it in there.

Melissa, I don't have problems with yeast infections, but I will echo Lee Lee and say to avoid sugar and try taking a probiotic, or eat yogurt. I used to use yogurt when I had to be on an antibiotic.

Hi LeeLee! Welcome to our thread. Since you have been lurking, you know that we have all types of eating plans here, different degrees of low carb, and then there's me, who can't stay low carb for a full day. LOL I laugh about it, but it's not funny.

Prairie Queen
, did you wrap the bacon around the pineapple spears and broil it?
