1 whole egg and 3 egg whites are a substitute for an IP packet. I used this while on the diet scramble or make like an omlette for breakfast. Add some spinach to help more of your veggies in throughout the day.
Hello to my IP family and friends out there. I am so excited to see so many new and a few old faces out there having success with the Ideal Protein Diet. I am not a newbie, but I have been away for awhile. Little more than 9 months to be exact. On April 20, 2014, my husband and I met our 3rd son who has added so much joy to our lives and 30 lbs back onto my body. I will officially restart on July 14, 2014 in order to stock my menu plans, food packets, vitamins, etc... Not only will I be starting on July 14 but my honey will be starting with me. I am so excited for him because I know he will be successful and feel so much better when he loses those extra lbs. I know that I will talk with many of you over the next several months and hopefully I can help and encourage many of you as I know that I frequently have found help and encouragement here previously.
I am jumping back in. I completed phase one three years ago and have struggled with a stressful job (inpatient therapist)and have eaten to manage the stress. I feel I have the long term plan In place to be successful and maintain after this upcoming loss. I started yesterday at 239 pounds and want to get down to about 175 or so AND MAINTAIN. This will likely happen fast with my active life, motivation, and the fact I am a male. This is a hard journey and I want to share with some other folks. So here we go

Welcome randygrl and myeverest, It's great to have more people here to support each other in our journey.
Still up that pound I gained with NO cheats. I'm thinking it's got to be water. The last two days my hot flashes have been really bad so it's got to be hormonal. Getting older sucks. Lol
Anyway, I am staying strong and sticking to this. For the last two days I have felt water logged. By the end of the evening I feel like I just can't have one more sip of water. I have always been a really big water drinker so this is weird.
I'm just rambling. lol

Good morning Everyone! Welcome RandyGirl and My Everest - I empathize with that so much! Seems like a huge moountain. I had a weigh in on Monday - lost 9 but don't know how to change the number under my IP name in the box. Dropped 5 inches but only 1 around my waist - my fattest part! So I'm trudging up Mt. Everest too - and I don't think I've even left the valley!
Jemma51 - is 51 your birth year, because it's mine! I had the same issue - down 9 pounds but can't really tell in my clothes. I'm choosing to focus on the scale for now because the inches I've lost have obviously been in my toes and earlobes because I can't see them gone anywhere else. The waist is a real bummer - I would be thrilled if that was the first to go, but too bad - we can't pick! And one other thing just for you Miss Jem - be kind to yourself. You are doing something wonderful with this diet, finally showing love for yourself and hope in the future - try not to look at the scale everyday. It is not who you are and you don't need 'its' approval to have a happy day. I haven't owned a scale in about 15 years and I have happy and bad days, but none are controlled by that piece of metal and plastic. I wish the same for you!
Well today is day 3 of being back in the saddle. This getting back into ketosis is no joke! Going off plan is Just not worth it on so many levels. Tomorrow and Friday will be the worst then the weekend I should be well on my way to feeling amazing again.
Tomorrow I go back to work after being off for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Even though I work 12 hour shifts, sticking to my WOE is as easy to stick to at work as it is at home for me.

Jemma~Good morning my sweets! Congrats on your week 4 WI!! Tight rings are indicative of fluid retention. So yes, it has to be water. How much water are you drinking each day? When I lose weight, I seem to lose from my head down. I see it in my face first. My legs and arms seem to be the last place to release fat. After I was on this plan for 2 weeks my hot flashes went completely away. When I had my slip on vacation, after 2 days, they were back with a vengence! That alone is enough to make me never want to go off plan! You ARE strong girl, I know you are going to do this!

No, 51 was my age when I tried IP last Oct. I guess we both must have some fat earlobes and toes. Lol I can't seem to get away from the scale. Funny thing is is that for the last 10 or so years I never weighed myself and didn't really care. I knew I was overweight but live with it. Now it bothers me so much its all I think about sometimes. I have a long wardrobe mirror leaning on my bedroom wall and can see myself when I walk in the room. I think every time " wow your fat". I'm changing that though.

Ooops forgot, Linda I drink about 100 oz. of water a day. I am not sure why I'm swelling. I have been told to get tested for RA. Maybe that's it. My hot flashes seemed to be getting better since starting IP but the last two days they are back. I think one of the reasons they went away is me giving up my wine drinking for IP. Wine made them terrible.
This is my funny for the day. Always try to find something to giggle about. My Bf called me and said that my contact photo he has on his phone ( it's from two years ago) I looked to skinny. I said what? Yeah, he says. I like you with a little more meat. I think he was trying to make me feel like I don't have to diet. He tells me all the time I'm beautiful and don't need to lose weight. I'm a lucky girl but I need to do it so I feel better. Plus, my blood pressure and hurting knees.

I am doing IP with alternatives and haven't had the cereal but yes you do need to be creative with food. The RTD's are pretty good in coffee if you drink coffee.

While it is in the packet, use a rolling pin to completely pulverize it! Really! Then put in a bowl with one egg white (get a carton as you can make TONS of packet hacks with one egg white!) and add 1/4 Tsp baking powder and enough cold water to get a pancake batter consistency. cook in a non stick pan with a little extra spray. Cook medium to low to keep the proteins from sticking. Top your pancakes with Walden Farms syrup (maple or blueberry - both are soooo good, even people who,dislike much of the WF things like he syrup). Mmmmmmmm!!
