I went to bed early and hungry when In started too. I didn't feel well for a few weeks but, thankfully it does pass. Just take it one day at a time. I had to tweek my food a little to make it. I space out my meals and snacks so that every couple hours I have something. I eat lunch early like about 11 am and have a snack around 2. Then dinner at 5 and another snack around 7 or 8. I also have a hard boiled egg with my lunch. It seems to help the hungry's and crummy feelings for me. oh, and lots and lots of water. I drink more then required but I like water

Hey I just had my 3rd WI so obviously not an expert but this past week I was really hungry and discovered that I was eating too many carbs. I log everything on myfitness pal just to track so what I am eating. I ditched all the restricted items and swaped them out for regular items. It has been smooth sailing since. 3rd WI and down 10.5 lbs. LOVE'in this. good luck.

Thanks Jemma. I'll bring a hard boiled egg to work next week. I hope after this week it'll pass. I'm drinking more than the required amount of water, so I know it's not that.

Thanks Kellygirl. I'm following the diet perfectly, but maybe I need to change some items based on the carbs. Congrats on your weight loss!

Hi Jean. The restricted items are a bit higher in carbs than the normal packets. For me, it is just enough to mess me up. I don't know why -I wouldn't think that a few more carbs would really matter, but for me, it does apparently. It makes the difference between me not being hungry at all, content and happy to being ravenous and wondering how I am going to make through to my next meal. I am hoping that will change for me at some point, but if it doesn't, than that just is what it is.

Evening all! I am happy to report that cauliflower and I are friends again. It admitted to doing things to my taste buds that it shouldn't have. I agreed that I said some not so nice things about it. We celebrated over cauliflower fried rice and shrimp.
I was thinking about trying the faux mashed potatoes again, but maybe it's too soon?

I'm a newbie!! You guys are very inspiring! Thank you all for your post! This diet is HARD for me! Today is the first time I tried the Starbucks/IP vanilla shake combo. I am in heaven and it has motivated me, lol. I feel like I'm not on a diet at this moment.

I keep weighing myself, which I know I probably shouldn't be doing... esp., since I've only been on the diet since Monday! I feel I should be losing more. Does anyone know the average weight loss for a person for their first week?

I have always loved cauliflower. Before starting Ip I used to make the faux cauliflower mashed potatoes and loved them. Maybe because I used to load on butter and salt. For some reason though I cannot stomach them now. I have made it a few times and have to gag it down. I think I might be able to get it down raw but not cooked. I miss it.

Hi Tessa Lynn
I am a newbie too, started June 16th. I sometimes feel like I should be losing more. This was def the case my first week when I gained 3 pounds! But it has (thankfully) started working. I started IP with my sisters and the first week one of them lost 11lbs, the other lost 8lbs. So, on average we lost 5.3 lbs lol. My coach said that some are just slower starters than others. I started losing after my coach suggested I needed to eat more frequently throughout the day. Keep up the good work!

Ok -- you've been on since Monday and it is Thursday. Your ticker says you've lost 4 pounds. That's a pound a day. Weight watchers etc. aims for 1-2 pounds a week. Be kind to yourself. You're doing just fine. Put the scale away until weigh in day and enjoy a nice surprise

EDIT: I really want to add that the overall weight loss average used to be posted by IP as 2-3 lbs a week. They changed that because they can't legally promise that. It slows down at times. Some weeks will be decimal number losses (e.g.0.4) Other weeks will be 4 lbs. On AVERAGE you'll lose 1-3 lbs a week IMO... Don't expect a big weight drop every week. I think most newbies know that but I don't want people to be feeling disappointed if they had 11 lbs one week and only 2 the next or something

You are completely right. I'm driving myself nuts. I guess I'm just scared to eat too much or too little and not notice and have to do an extra week! I want to blast through this (I know I should be patient) and get to phase 2. I'm REALLY struggling with phase 1. I'm surrounded by yummy food all day by coworkers and vendors that drop off treats. It's a steady tease. And I LOVE food.
I've never been this motivated before though and it's getting me through. When my nurse considered me "overweight" and my BMI wasn't even on the chart, it put things in perspective very quickly!! It's not a want anymore, it's a need to lose weight.
