Well, looks like it's good that I got a lot of miles in early, because I'm going to take a break for at least a week so my leg will hopefully get better. I bought a foam roller today, so I'm hoping that will help a lot. As soon as I feel better I'm going to try walking and the elliptical, because the guy at the running store did a gait analysis and told me I was doing everything right, so it's probably an impact-related ITB injury. Grr, frustrating! Hopefully it will be better soon and I can get back to the challenge.
Scenestealer: What running store do you go to in the city? I've been thinking I really want to go have the experts tell me what kind of shoes I should be wearing to get the best ankle support since I've been having some ankle issues right after I go running. Sorry to hear you have to take a week off, but on the bright side, when you get back out there you'll feel great and you'll have a week's worth of cabin fever to fuel you.
Rosalie, I went for the first time today to Jackrabbit, which is on 14th between 5th and 6th. I was SO impressed with them. They put me on a treadmill in neutral shoes, and then used a camera to tape me as I ran, then zoomed in on my legs/feet and played it back in slow motion so I could see exactly what was going on. They were very knowledgeable, and I will definitely be going there when I'm due for new sneakers in a month or two.
