Today I ran the furthest I have EVER run in my whole life... 12 miles!!!!! I'm ecstatic. It was really the perfect day for a run, and I felt good, though in the last mile one of my feet started to hurt a bit. I am definitely on track to run a half-marathon in 2008, and I think I'm going to aim for early in the year before my training has a chance to get derailed by work. So - I'm signing up for the Manhattan Half-Marathon on January 27. Yay!
welcome fluffy girl,
We are all at different points in our exercise routines. Some run, some walk, some fudge it like me when I do some other exercise and some of us just need to be accountable and see it written down. So welcome and good and happy fitness to you in '08
I walked 5.5 miles today--some does not count as fitness walking because I was trailing my 20 month old. He looooves to walk, but his little legs can't go very fast. When I can convince him to get in the stroller, we go at a good clip--but it's getting harder and harder these days!
Do you guys count (or at least fudge) all walking you do? Walks to the store and such?
Oaktree, I only count walking if it's not my normal routine walking. Like, today I was down in Chelsea, and made a conscious decision to walk home (3.3 miles) instead of taking the subway, because I wanted the exercise. However, last week I'd guess I walked a mile or two while shopping, and didn't count that because I wasn't doing it on purpose for exercise.
I also did 0.7 miles on the elliptical to bring my total for today to 4.0 miles even. My legs are sore from yesterday but I'm hoping the walking/elliptical will help.
EASTCOASTGIRL I am glad you will be warm! My daughter just got back from NYC for a little New Years trip and my step-daughter heads back to the city soon when her college break ends. We are expecting a lot of rain here real soon in southern California.
EZMONEY: If you're in SoCal, I doubt the "tropical" 48 degree high we had today would seem warm to you, but it's quite a relief after it was 13 the other day.
I think I'm having a bit of the SAD this weekend - I've been staying up too late and then not making it outside until it's dark out, which means no outside running (running with headphones in harlem in the dark is probably not that greatest idea) which then makes me not want to run. But I'm glad to say, I thought about how I'd feel not being able to post it online, and I did 3 miles on the evil old treadmill. Victory.
