Happy Mothers Day,everyone!

I slept for 8 hours but it was not good sleep. Fitbit give me a breathing rate and its usually 10-12 breathes per minute but last night was 25 breaths per minute. Breathing usually slows down when you sleep. Seems I could not get enough air and was struggling. It might be because of my stuffy nose. I wore my Cpap. Whatever!.

Scale still says 180!.SOB! I wanted to throw it out! Won't be long til I'm at 200 again.

Roast is in the pressure cooker after browning it in the frying pan, with carrots and half an onion, mushroom soup and beef broth. I will make mashed potatoes. We will eat around 3.

Step daughter stopped with a flower. DH would not let her come in because of our colds. Rusty went out on the porch to see her. He loves her. Step son called. They are going to his in-laws. He brought a flower on Friday,so as soon as it gets warm enough I can put them out on the porch.

Now to just relax. Thats what Mothers Day is all about!

Scale up to 159.6 lbs. Too much playing around. My fault. I didn't exercise everyday last week so it was easy not to be faithful with my eating right. So will work harder this week.

I talked to DS this morning and asked him how DDIL is doing on her diet plan that her diet coach put her on and she is doing very well on it. She had her choose the foods she likes from the list of foods she is allowed to eat. She doesn't call her diet calorie counting, keto or low carb. It fluctuates so that some days it is low cal, some low carb, but it is different everyday so no name so that it confuses the body and it never gets used to any one way of eating and the body loses weight. We've been told this wouldn't work especially with low carb dieting. However, I remember when I was in WW years ago going to a WW meeting and I saw a poster on the wall that said you could eat low carb some days. I wondered about it but didn't know anything about low carb back then so I ignored it. I have often wondered if you could mix eating low cal and low carb but never knew anyone who knew if you could or not. I always heard if you low carb and you ate so much as even a bite of some kind of carb you would mess up your diet plan.

At this point, I'm seeing people eating more carbs but adding more protein. If this woe that the diet coach is guiding my DIL to do is working, then I am not going to worry about whether I am eating low carb or low calorie. I'm just going to eat as healthy as I know how. I'm tired of how there are so many rules and ideas of what is or isn't healthy. Example, I read last night that you should eat yogurt every day. Then DH turned on a doctor on YouTube who was telling us what not to eat and one of the foods he said you should never eat again and guess what it was... Yogurt. In fact, most of the foods I eat that is supposed to be healthy for me, he says do not eat. I was dieting on my own 21 years ago when I was not following any ones diet. I was eating healthy as best as I knew it and I was losing weight. Once I got back online to follow "group" dieting, it has been a battle ever since. So today I have decided I am going to quit worrying about following a diet. Reading the book to eat to beat cancer, I have found that I like and eat a lot of those foods already and some I like that I need to add. However, some of those I need to eat but don't eat because they are not allowed on low carb, I need to beat cancer.

I say this because when we started eating to get our diabetes under control, we learned we could not eat some of the foods they say we can have on a diabetic diet. I could not have them if I wanted to control my bs. I am learning the same thing now if I want to defeat cancer. So I will start treating cancer the same way I treat diabetes. One size DOES NOT fit all.

Carol Sue I hope you will be able to rest today and will start feeling better. Prayers continue for you and your hubby to feel better.

Have a Happy Mother's day everybody.

Trish, I always end up referring back to the first time I lost weight. My mom would not cook special for me. She cooked what she cooked. Usually meat, potatoes and vegetable. I took 1pieceof meat,1scoop of potato and 1_scoop of veggie. When that was gone I was finished eating. I don't remember what I ate for breakfast or lunch. Hi exercised 2 days a week at the YMCA aerobics classes 1 hour. At that time I knew nothing about weight loss. I ate a variety of foods but less than before. No snacks, no sweets no chips, pretzels or other snack food. After I started hearing about other diet plans I had a harder time. If I could do the same as I did back then I would be better off. It was eat less, move more but they now say it doesn't work. It worked for me. I did get hungry but I fought thru it!.

Carol Sue I didn't see what you wrote because we must have been writing at the same time. Then when I tried to answer you, my server must have been overloaded with people writing Mothers because I couldn't get online.

I think we both have learned that if we had continued eating as we did when we were younger growing up that we would never have had a weight problem. My eating went very well today. I had my protein shake, orange and collagen coffee for breakfast. For dinner I cooked salmon using juice from a orange instead of the lemon I usually use. We had peas and salad. My dessert was a serving of lowfat chocolate mint pieces. I had 2 eggos waffles left and I ate those with PB on it and finished my day eating a red delicious apple. I actually was very satisfied today and ate less than usually.

I heard from the kids I usually hear from on Mother's Day so it turned out to be a good day. It's been a long day and I'm tired so going to bed soon. Hope you and DH feel better tomorrow.

Goodnight.

I forgot to weigh today til I was dressed. 180.2 fully dressed,no shoes..

Good sleep. We went to Bob Evans for breakfast. It was ok. Then to Goodwill. No Wal-Mart because DH got some things at the local store yesterday.

My roast was disappointing. Overcooked. Dry, tasteless. I won't buy beef roast for a while, prefer pork. I don't know what we will eat today.

Today my Mothers Day flowers are out in the sun. We will bring them in at night until it gets warmer.

I didn't start good eating til I was in my 20s. Before that Mom cooked lots of carbs. Potatoes and Pasta. Very little meat. If she had a piece of meat it went into a casserole to spread between 5 people.. Each one got a couple bites. She learned later on how to cook better. My mom told me when she was a kid if there was any meat, papa got it all. None for the kids. They had 11 children. Thats just how they believed. The man needed better food.

Carol Sue We were raised that Daddy got the best and biggest piece of meat. Mama and us girls got a smaller serving. I guess they thought men needed it and women didn't. I often wonder if that was a southern thing. However, when I visitied in other peoples homes, I don't remember seeing that rule played out so it could have been just something my Mama did. When I married, I did the same with my hubbies. However, when I married DH#3 who was born and raised in Indiana, they didn't do that so DH and I pretty much eat about the same size of meat depending on what it is because DH isn't as big a meat eater as I am. I learned to eat more protein doing low carb.

Weight this morning was back down to 157.8 still .2 lbs above the low I was last week, but thankfully back below 160 so I'm thankful for that. Vitals are in normal ranges so I'm thankful for that too.

DH has me watching a endocrinologist on YouTube and I find him very helpful. I think I've heard of him before but not sure. His name is Robert Lustig and he seems to really know his stuff. I enjoy listening to him. He says where we go wrong is "a calorie is a calorie" is not true. He explains it all depends how many calories our body absorbs and what it does with those calories we do get. I like the fact that he says to keep fiber under 25 g because I read keep fiber high but I never could eat high fiber. In fact, about 20 g is about all my body can tolerate. He says don't count calories which is interesting and that seems to be because we don't know how much of the calories we are actually getting. He used the example of eating almonds. I think he said a serving of almonds has 190 calories, but we are only absorbing 160 calories because 30 calories are fiber. Instead of eating for calories we need to be eating for a healthy mitochondria. I guess I always though of processed foods as tv dinners etc, but he says when you take an orange and cut it in half and turn it into juice it and throw out the pulp, you have thrown out what your body needs in the pulp and that is what he calls processing. Anyway is very interesting read. You can buy his books on this but I like listening to him or reading what he has online. I found it interesting that that he uses some supplements for his health and he prefers a fish diet, but he said he also like meat so he eats both. He explains the importance of at least 2 fish meals a week that has omega 3 and preferable not farmed raised because they are fed grain. I hope that will help DH choose better fish.

We are having pork chops today. I had my protein shake, mandarin oranges and collagen coffee for breakfast. I have 3 small potatoes I will make into mashed potatoes to keep them from ruining. I am so bad about forgetting I have them and they ruin.

Carol Sue I'm sorry your beef roast turned out bad. I think it was because your felt bad. Like you I like pork roast better myself, but we do need some enzymes we need from beef so I cook one ever once in a while.

I need to go put my potatoes in to boil although I'm thinking fried rice would taste so much better with pork chops. DDIL told me how to cook it yesterday when I talked to her and DS. I'll let DH decide. I like fried rice with a little bit of green peas in it and I think we had some peas left over yesterday.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Trish,I usually make Rice A Roni with pork. We both like it and the kids liked it. The bad part is the, seasoning in it. High sodium. I get the Rice Pilaf. It is rice and vermicelli pasta, combined. I love fried rice but DH does not.

The little boy next door has been fighting leukemia since 2 years ago. Today they have a sign in the yard "Willy rang the bell!". So I guess he is now cancer free. I think he is 4 years old.

I have Dr Lustigs book Metabolical. I would like to read Fat Chance but it is too much money. Some day the price might go down.

Carol Sue I always rejoice when I hear someone has beat cancer and rang the bell. I pray he will have a long and happy life cancer free and healthy.

I enjoyed the rice but something I ate upset my stomach this evening and I have been experiencing a lot of gas and constipation. Finally starting to get some relief. I hope to feel better tomorrow. I have no idea what the culprit was.

I agree Lustig's books are expensive and that is why I'm so thankful that he is on YouTube and online.

Hoping for a good nights sleep.

Goodnight.

Scale is still at 180 but I did not take Lasix yesterday. I need a break from the leg cramps.

Sleep was somewhat good.

I got Metabolical when it was on special a couple years ago. I don't really like watching videos. I have a hard time following along, I get distracted. Also I dont like putting the sound on because DH is usually watching TV. I have headphones but rarely use them. I do like when they have a website that I can read.

Carol Sue I would enjoy the videos better if DH would watch them earlier in the day. He waits till Iam sleepy and ready for bed. That is when he comes alive.

I ended up sick last night like I used to get when I first started treatments. I had diarrhea and threw up. I finally had to stop eating and drinking anything to give my body time to rest and try to heal. I ended up fasting around 24 hrs then DH made me half a serving of chicken noodle soup and I ate about half of it. May try to eat the rest before I go to bed.

Not sure what I weighed this morning. I weighed and then forgot what it was. I think it was 154.6 and I weighed again a little bit ago and it was 154.4 lbs. Thank God I'm starting to feel better. Hope I don't have to go through this next month. I read that I could go through this with the bone medicine and I'm not sure I am going to have it. I don't want to be sick like this again on purpose.

Have a good evening.

Trish,I hope you feel better. Sometimes I think the cancer treatment is harder on the body than the cancer itself, but its important to fight the cancer.

I'm feeling terrible, also. I coughed a lot overnight and I'm still coughing. My nose is running so badly. Im constantly blowing it but then have to do it again. Benadryl helps but I wanted to use that for sleep tonight. I took a full Lasix because I'm afraid of getting too much congestion. I hope I don't get let cramps. If it's not one thing its another. Im tired of all this. I really need to get back on plan.

Scale down 1lb to 179 so the Lasix didn't help much. I slept ok but coughed a lot. But I didn't get leg cramps!

DH is going to want to go to the casino today. I don't want to go feeling like this. It makes me really tired. Its hard to keep saying No..

Carol Sue I am sorry you are feeling bad. Hope you won't have to go to casino if you think you can't do it.

Weight this morning is 155.2, FBG was 103 and BP was 124/65 and that was without meds or vitamins yesterday. So that is good. I ended up eating a couple of scrambled eggs for supper.

I'm seriously considering Carnivore or Keto Carnivore woe. I am listening to people and how they are doing on it. I am in the process of looking at foods I am eating and how to get there. I'm tired of feeling like I do and I am ready to change whatever I have to change to feel better all the time. One big thing I like about keto and carnivore is that I won't have to take so many pills; especially Lasix. I am trying to eat small amounts of carbs as I increase protein, and allow some of that to be fruit mainly because I don't want to throw any of what I have away. I think I'm going to find that fruit just may be my problem.

DH SIL who sends us our cards every week to encourage us from the time I got sick is coming to TX next week for her Granddaughter's graduation. They will be here Tuesday to visit with us. I look forward to seeing them. It fits in perfect with my treatment. I have Lab Monday afternoon, they come Tuesday and if all is well with my labwork, I will have treatment on Friday morning.

Have a good day everybody.

No mention of the casino. I think he knows I'm feeling terrible. It's mostly the cough and if I try to lie down its like I'm gasping for air. Im coughing up yellow mucus. I think that's bad. I. Don't want to go to the hospital but maybe tomorrow I will go to Med Express.

He went to Wendy's and brought a chicken sandwich for me. I love them and it made me feel better. Today he changed the sheets on the bed and washed them with bleach, opened the window and aired out the room. He is feeling much better but still coughs at night. It's mostly when we lie down.

I think Carnivore is good but very hard to do because I like vegetables so much. Im not much for fruit. I force myself to eat it. I don't think I will ever do Carnivore or even Keto, just low carb, or reduced carb.
