Trish,I dont understand why you could not get on 3FC. I never heard of that.
DH decided he wanted fish so we went to Rodneys and I had wings.
Im glad you are getting your eating figured out the way you want it. I don't pay attention to fat or protein as long as I get some. I don't want to eat high fat. It doesn't sit well with me.
Carol Sue I never understood what was going on with 3fc either and I never understood where this thing was coming from whether it was real or a hack. DH finally was able to find a way to block it. It seems to be resolved and I hope it will stay that way.
I'm going to have a bit of a problem a problem trying to get my protein and fat up very high as long as I protein is leaking through my kidneys. I am thankful I can work at this through MFP. I may have to strictly eat this way if I want the cancer cells to die. Our situations are different.

Trish, I dont understand when you say that fat protects protein. What does it protect from? I tried to Google but couldn't find anything.
When I was single is when I started eating eggs regularly,, and also milk. For some reason I believed that they contained the most nutrition that we need. I don't know why I believed that. If I didn't like them I might not have eaten them. They were cheap, too, and i had little money. I didn't really like meat and still don't prefer it except chicken. Most people believe that beef is best but I always heard red meat was bad. Carnivores seem to believe that beef has the most nutrition and poultry is low in nutrition.
DH cooked eggs for me but my bread was moldy. It was a new loaf I took out of the freezer yesterday. It was nor SL but Nickle's 35 that I told you we have here. So I ate regular white toast. I don't understand when it got moldy. Good thing he noticed it.

Carol Sue I don't know for sure what all fat protects, but from what I understand all those years that I at FF/LF was the worse thing I could have done. It sure didn't keep DH#2 from dying from heart disease and it didn't protect me from cancer like they claimed either. Nether did eating all that fiber. Red meat is healing a lot of people of all the diseases they had before they did carnivore. I'm just not ready to go 100% carnivore but I can do Keto. I personally think like the Keto dietician that a variety of meat is better. I do know that I read years ago that carbs should be 20% of calories and fat g percentage should be higher than the protein. It now makes sense that to be important if it does protect the protein. I think fat benefits are so much more than what we realize especially when it comes to protecting us from diseases than we realized and they are just now are now finding research to back it up.
I have gone on MFP and set up for Keto Diet. However, I wanted to set up the carbs at 30 g instead of 20 but since they only go by count by 5s I had to settle for 10% which makes the grams of carbs to be 35 g. My protein I set at 25% making it 88 grams and leaves the fat % @ 65 percent making its high 101 grams. This gives me adequate amounts of each micro so that my carbs are low and fat will be a little higher than the protein so that it is protected if that is really necessary. This like doing Atkins in the the 2nd stage where you lose weight slower than you would if you were doing Induction. This becomes my on personal KD plan with slow weight loss, which I'm not concerned about the weight loss as I am learning to eat in a way that works my cancer treatment to become cancer free. The way I have been eating has been the best way to that. In fact, I may have been feeding those 2 cancer cells instead of starving them. My CT Scan I will have soon will show if they have grown or not.
Weight was still 153.8 lbs so that hopefully means my plan should give me a good steady weight loss. FBG was 111 because I at half a cookie DH DSIL brought him. Evidently she was not aware that he is diabetic. We share it so he doesn't eat too much. However, I starting reading Dr. Tan's The Keto Code again yesterday. Remember she is the oncologist who wrote the book. This time I'm reading technical stuff on how cancer grows and what makes it grow and how we try to kill it and how it tries to block our treatment while we are trying to block the way it feeds off other things in our body. Carol Sue I don't know for sure, but I think this is where fat protects the protein because I think I read where one of the books said cancer will feed on fat. I've read so many books on this I can't always remember who said what. BP was 104/62.
We are having catfish today. I'm going to try a small salad today but I will make instead letting DH do it. I want to take the rib part of the romaine lettuce off and just eat the green part hoping I don't get sick this time. I need fat and a lot of dieters eat their salads and other foods with Ranch Dressing. I will cook eggs and bacon for our second meal.

Trish, I never got on the low fat train. The only thing I ever used low fat was milk. I didn't like the taste of anything else low fat. When DGS was born and the pediatrician found out they used low fat milk he told them never give baby anything besides whole milk. He said the baby needs the fat to grow properly. Step son always used whole milk but his wives changed him to low fat, against his belief. He was always thin, and so is DGS. DIL said Dave should not eat red meat "because of his heart",but although he had to get a heart valve the cardiologist said his arteries are pristine. No blockages at all. And he has always been a big meat eater. I think the cause of heart disease is family history, and sugar and carbs in the diet. I don't think fat has anything to do with it. This is my opinion from what I've read and heard. My mothers family ate a lot of carbs and so did DHs family. Opinions differ all over the internet. Its hard for me because I can understand everyone's point of view. I can understand the carnivores who eat all meat. And I can understand those who eat only vegetables. But I dont think I could follow either one. I like meat to a point and also vegetables. I also like carbs. I don't think I could eliminate anything completely, but meat would be first to go. I don't eat much dairy, but would not want it eliminated completely. Same with fruit. I will probably always eat the SAD.
DH hates romaine because of the rib part. If I did it at home I would cut the rib part off, too,but I don't mind it. I like the crunch. When he gets a salad in a restaurant, I eat the cucumbers, onions anything dark green like spinach and any big chunks of lettuce. And we always use ranch dressing. Sometimes I use sweet and sour dressing. I also don't like cheese in a salad. But I like all types of lettuce and greens. Crunchy.

Trish,I looked at my last bloodwork from Dec. My BUB is high and so is my crearinine. My Gfre is low. Do they check your Gfre? I think the reason why my reading are bad is because of the CHF. And remember I had that kidney issue in the hospital but I think that was because of the dye and they wouldn't let me have water. I get blood work again soon so I will see if I improve.
We are take out for dinner. DH got Taco Bell and I had Wendys.

Carol Sue I think your elevated Bun and Creatnine was due to the kidney infection. I'm not sure about the other.
I have read so much info on cancer and I see how confusing things are while looking for a cure. However, I have read that sugar feeds cancer cells and then I heard Dr. Berry talk in one of his videos explain it this way... you can put sugar in a pea tree dish with cancer cells and the cells grow. Put cancer cells in pea tree with fat and it dies and when you put cancer cells in pea tree dish with protein and it they die. Having learned this in my research, I have to wonder why they tell cancer patients that sugar does not feed cancer. Dr. Berry doesn't tell everyone to eat carnivore but he does explain how to do keto properly warning not to eat keto foods in the store.
I had the same reaction to the salad I ate as I did every time I've had potty issues. Thank God however I didn't throw up like I usually do. So I won't be eating salad anymore. So far I seem to be able to eat some veggies in a small amount, but not as a salad. Strange. Even though suffering from those problems, it has still be a good day.
Weight was 152.4 lb this morning. I was surprised that it didn't come down more but I am glad. That means that is a real weight loss and not just water. Other numbers are good to but I don't remember what they are and don't want to look them up.
I am on Keto full swing today. Calories around 1340 and total carbs are 21 and protein g are less than fat g as it needs to be on true KD. So things should be good today.
Hope everybody has a good Memorial Day weekend and stay safe when traveling.

Trish,I don't think my BUN number was from an infection. I was in the hospital having tests before my procedure when that happened in July. I had the procedure in October, and these blood work results were the following December, routine tests done by my PCP.
My weight was still 177 this morning. I took half a Lasix. I thought we were going to the casino. The old one that he said we were never going to again. We had the discussion but now hes not saying anything about it. I guess he thinks I said No. I said "I guess I have to." He hates when I take that attitude but if he wants me to happily say "Yes dear,we can go!" Then he will have to start winning.
I spent the day on the PC paying bills. Once I have the bills paid for the month I dont care what he does with whatever's left, because its not much. There's nothing I want or need. I tell him if he wants more money either win it or sell his hot rod. It just sits in the driveway. He says he will never sell it.
I'm glad you are doing well with eating Keto. I hope it helps you. Unfortunately I am not eating well. Today I had some leftover chili and DH cooked pork chops. I ate 1 boneless chop. It wasn't as good as TX Roadhouse but they marinate them and I dont know what they use. For supper I ate colored pepper strips dipped in hummus.
I almost forgot to tell you! My local high school friend who is being tested for severe potty issues told me she was having nightly leg cramps. Someone told her to take magnesium for it but she says it didn't help. Depending on what type of Magnesium she bought it could be causing her diarrhea. She told me this in an email so I didn't get a chance yet to reply and tell her. There are a couple types that are supposed to not cause it but I dont know what she took. The one I was taking is not supposed to cause it but sometimes it did. I don't take it much anymore.
I don't have any plans for Memorial day so its up to DH. I can just imagine what he will want to do!
Weight still 152.4 lbs, FBG 102 and bp 105/56. Since I need the Lisinopril 20 to protect my kidneys, I need to eat a little more sodium. I am definitely on Keto Diet eating 20 g carbs or less total and keeping fat more than protein. Being on Keto for Cancer FB group helps keep me from wasting money on supplements etc that the body can make naturally on its own. There are a lot of us on there fighting cancer with KD so there a lot who can help each other through battle.
I've learned for now I have to have 3 meals. I have eggs and bacon with collagen coffee for breakfast. Today we are having country style pork ribs and I will cook up a lot of chicken wings that I can keep in a bag so I can eat them for a evening snack/meal.
Carol Sue I just put them in a baking pan and cook them in my little oven. Depending on how many I can fit into the pan, I bake them for almost an hour or until done.
I've had 2 meals so far today and have the chicken wings cooked and in a plastic bag so I can get enough protein and fat in a 3rd meal. I have a new bottle of keto sticks and tested this evening after my shower and I am in ketosis. Thank God. I never got into ketosis when I did this years ago. I probably did something wrong back then. So this has been a good day.
Carol Sue Yes I season my wings and all meat that I cook with season salt, unsalted onion and garlic powder. Once in a while I will add something else but seldom. DH uses the same seasonings when he cooks as I do except he also uses adobo.
Weight this morning was 152. I thought it was going to land on 151.8 but couldn't hold it there and stopped at 152. FBG back down below 100 at 98. From what I understand losing weight, keeping FBG low (actually insulin) and staying in ketosis is the key to better health. I am completely off of sugar now. I do still use Stevia and I bought allulose because Stevia doesn't raise insulin and allulose block fructose from causing problems. Dr. Bilkin has a really good video on that. He also talks about ketone drinks etc but you need the right ones and boy are they expensive. I was glad to see Dr. Berry thinks they are unnecessary to get into ketosis. I asked on Keto for Cancer FB and learned it isn't really necessary. One girl answered my question and said she is in ketosis and never took ketones to get there. It would cost over $100 to get a months supply. I checked with the keto sticks and I'm in ketosis. Light pinkish not purple, but it should get there.
