Hi all - been mia past few days from just feeling cruddy. I think it's most likely the weather change, went from high 90's to 110 and over just overnight. It always take me awhile to get acclimatized.

rosey - congrats on the good luck at the casino. that's so cool. I always lose when I go.

thin - you should have a talk with dh and ask him to hide the nuts from you or give them up for awhile. When my mom lived with me, she existed on chocolate. Was practically the only thing she would eat, and dr. said give it to her, at least it was calories. So I used to buy those big costco size bags of candy for her, but I always asked her to keep it in her room, because I knew I would never go in there and get it. Once in awhile I'd ask for one piece, but for the most part it was like it wasn't there.

Yes on yeast AND bladder infections too. And btw, men do get them too, altho not in the same places as women do. When I worked in hospital, we saw it all the time. They (the men) always thought it was some kind of heat rash or something.

Nothing on tap for the weekend. Just trying to stay cool. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hello everyone! I am getting impatient...I fired the kiln yesterday and I am still waiting for it to be cool enough to open. I peeked inside...I have a few good looking pieces and a few that look like disasters. Same old same old!

I have never had a yeast infection of THAT kind ... Though I have had a rash that was probably a yeast rash. I have not had any problems with it since I have gotten my blood glucose levels down to a more normal range.

BG this morning was 109.

It has been a busy day. I have had my grandson most of the day. He is ten months now...cute as a button, but into EVERYTHING. He absolutely LOVES getting into the kitchen cabinets. He doesn't pull anything out yet..he is just fascinated with working the doors...open and shut, open and shut. He gets his fingers pinched a good deal but it doesn't stop him!

Oh gee . . . I am definitely NOT proud of my eating today . . . really do not know what happened to me, or why . . . Breakfast was fine, but then I sort of had one long Snack/Lunch/Snack eating fest from about 11 am until 3:30 when I finally got back into a semblance of control . . . anyway, suffice it to say my net calories were almost 1900 (almost 2200 before you deduct the fibre) . . . so here it is . . . a nice sample of how not to eat for either BGL control or weight loss. No -- I haven't actually checked the BGL since this morning -- some things you just do not want to know. Believe it or not, since the first 3 days of my week were on the low side, things aren't too bad, on average . . . hope I can hold it together for the rest of the week.

Breakfast: -- 2 cups coffee, HF cereal, strawberries, skim milk
Binge: -- 10 arrowroot cookies with strawberry-rhubarb topping; bean salad with romaine and cucumbers; 2 Skinny Cow fudge bars, cut up with CW on them; protein pancakes with NSF syrup and walnuts; 2 more cups of coffee (that's want finally got me stopped)
Dinner: -- egg white omlette with brocolli and salsa

Water: -- the usual 10 glasses - 80 oz / 2500 ml

Anyway, gang . . . hope you are having a better day in the eating and in the moving and shaking departments than I . . . see you tomorrow . . .

I threw the nuts out. they are gone!

Today was kind of a bad day eating wise for me too, I went to Ruth's Chris Steak house for dinner and had the Crabtini appetizer (lump crab meat in a mayo/vinegarette) OMG, it was out of this world delicious!!!

Then I had the tomato/onion salad, which was sliced tomatoes covered with red onion & crumbled bleu cheese and a vinegarette. This was also very tasty.

Then *drumroll* I had the petite filet with grilled shrimp, I had it cooked without butter or salt, but it came with a brandy/peppercorn sauce on the side which was to die for. With this I had steamed broccoli and a couple of mushrooms.

and now for the things I *could have had* but didn't

- Booze (I had mineral water instead of the margaritas and cosmos my friends had)
- Bread & butter (it was on the table, but I had none)
- salt - (never touched the shaker)
- Cheesy Mashed potatoes (a bowl of it on the table, I didn't have any)
- Steak Fries (on the table but I said no)
- Dessert (others had cheesecake, ice cream, chocolate sin cake) I had nothing.
- Specialty coffees (I resisted all the tempting offerings)

So there you have it, not the best day - but not the worst either. I am relatively proud of myself.

Good Morning . . .

Any special Father's Day plans for you and yours? Nothing for me . . . no Fathers around here.

Interesting little article . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...e37dd3f19&p=54 . . . and something I must admit I've never even thought of, but it sounds like it might be a good idea.

So . . . that's today's question? Does anybody keep more than one BGL monitor on the go?

Finally got a few new pictures of the triplets . . . not easy . . . they are either asleep or moving too fast to be anything but a blur . . .

Other than that . . . it is another day . . . so lets' all keep things moving and shaking, gang . . . see you later . . .

Oops . . . forgot the usual morning stuff . . .

BGL of 5.7 (104). Beautiful sunny morning . . . thought I had overslept -- after the fog of the last couple of mornings, it was a surprise to see the sun so early.

Later . . .

Meowee, are they Bengal leopard cats? I have a friend with a couple of those

Yesterday we saw the Moscow Cat Circus, 35 cats doing tricks - it was pretty funny.

BG was 6.6 (118) not bad considering the dinner I had.

I have two BG Meters, one at home and one at my office - I kept forgetting to bring it to work and home again, so I bought a second.

Today will be a day of light & healthy eating. I am feeling under the weather from yesterdays fun.

Hi all. Nope, no fathers here either, altho both my sons & brother are fathers, but I won't see them. I have 2 meters - 1 home and 1 to carry. I could never remember to stick mine in my purse when leaving the house, so it was worth it to me to buy another. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Hi all. BGL this morning were 79. not bad since I had to treat a low of 59 before I went to bed last night. Up to 106 2 hrs. after a nice breakfast of sausage, egg and biscuit with 1/2 tsp of strawberry jelly.

Been a rough week. I've battled a yeast infection, T.O.M. brought Aunt Flow for her monthly visit which of course means cramps so bad I just want to lay in a fetal position and my depression took a slight downward turn because I forgot to take my meds for a week. *sigh*

Things are looking up though.

Meowee- Those are beautiful cats. I am only allowed 1 furbaby in my apt. and that is only because we had a mouse problem last fall. We adopted Flea, a calico mostly white with patches of orange tiger and black tiger stripes, from out local shelter. Flea loves me best. Hmmm maybe it's because I feed her and keep her box cleaned........

We are on a role . . . got a couple more cute pictures for you . . . Freckle showing off his spotted tummy (among other things typical male) and carrying around the favourite toy.

Thin . . . yes they are Bengals . . . and trying very hard to live up to their wild heritage.

Rosey . . . congratulations on those nice NSV's.

Kitty. . . I feel your discomfort, girl. Hate those yeast- 's.

Soiley . . . Hi.

Happy to say, I'm having a much better day today. See you later, Chickies.

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading, but not posting. I just don't have much to contribute. I'm a newbie to all of this and learning a lot.

I have a question for you. Is it possible for caffein to negatively affect your BGL? I cut out caffein a couple of days ago and my BGL numbers are quite a bit lower.

Lynn

Hi Lynne . . . afraid I don't have a definitive answer for you on that one. I even did a search on the internet and came up with a few dozen conflicting opinions. General consensus seems to be that there is no negative impact in moderate amounts (one or two cups of coffee or equivalent a day) but high caffeine consumption can increase blood sugar.

Hope to see you again soon . . .
