Anyone having problems with their feet? dryness, scaliness, pain? I bought a cream called 'diabetics basics' is smells really nice and feels very soothing, it is anti bacterial too.

Morning all,
WOW i feel a day late and a dollar short Hi to all the Newbies let see basics first 130 bsl this am. not suprising with the stress im under. tomorrows officially the one year anniversary of my brother dying in iraq and the kid is barely holding up my sugars have been up and down and all over because of it. but at least i can say when i stepped on the scale this am i didn't do to much damage only up 2 lbs. i haven't started excersising because im just not really all that motivated right now. i tried to do it last nite and stopped because my head just wouldn't stop hurting to be honest i wouldn't wish this kind of pain on my worse enemy, the mix of grief and physical pain is overwelming at times. but i will muddle through with a grimice if not a smile. i have nieces and nephews to be strong for and my sister doesn't need to see me break down (tends to create a domino affect if u get my meaning).. sorry for this bit of a downer, kinda had to get it off my chest. promise to be more up beat after tomorrow thanks for listening gals.
ttfn.

Haven't weight in yet this week. Went to the ankle dr this afternoon. arthritis in the ankle is no worse,so I go back in 6 months. Its not the pain from the ankle that bothers me,its mt left knee. Thursday afternoon I go for a stress test, never had on. Should be fun.

Hi . . . I'm back . . .

Clean bill of health on the eyes . . . he seems as pleased with the results of his cataract surgery as I am . . . doesn't even want to see me for two years. I do go to the optometrist every year anyway because of the diabetes. Two years without having somebody look in there would make me a little nervous.

Hi JUDY . . . . . . Glad to see you. My arthritis has been acting up too because of all the damp weather coupled with too much stress I think. Is the stress test to check your heart function or is it something to do with the arthritis?

Oh MICKEY . . . . . . Such a downer for you. Have an extra Chickie. We are all here for you. Try to remember all the good stuff about his life. In time the horror will start to fade a little. Stay strong, girl.

Hi THIN . . . . . . In time the Metformin and the improved lifestyle will bring things into line and you'll be seeing some lower readings. Rest assured you are not alone with the dry skin either . . . very common problem for diabetics. Take good care of those feet . . . they can be very problematic, but don't go overboard with the cream. You need to keep your feet moiusturized but not sticky-damp.

Yep LYNN . . . You definitely need to see an optometrist (and preferably also an opthamologist) on a regular basis. Vision complictions are not to be taken lightly. Diabetics do tend to develop cataracts earlier than non-diabetics . . . gee, wonder why that would jump into my mind so quickly . . .

Yippee ROSEY . . . Great BGL reading, Chickie, especially in view of the fall you had and the added stress of aches and pains.

Hope everybody has a great evening ahead of them. Keep doing the good stuff just as much as you possibly can. Here's a little dose of to help us all make it through. See you soon . . .

The stress test is for my heart. Never had one. Husband can home from work sick thinks its nerves or acidreflex. Trying to talk him into going to urgentcare. He's sleeping right now. Just what we needed before vacation. We leave June 19 for 5 days in St Ignace Mi. Our birthdays are both that week and we liek to celebrate up there.

Hi there, I just found it at a small pharmacy/walk in clinic in the Brampton area. This is what it looks like

I've never seen it at Shoppers or Guardian.

Sry I've been MIA. I'm still a kickin. I just changed my doctor ( still seeing my FP = Family Pract. ) but I switched to a doctor that specializes in diabtetes. I had my first appointment on Wed. he was rather upset with my fp doctor for not doing AC1 more oftener then he has been ( he was doing them every 18 months and Dr. Diaz said that it should be done every 6 months ). I switched cause my doctor didn't seem to be concerned that my morning levels were running in the 180's ( I was ), and for the last four days before seeing the new doctor I was lucky if my level stayed at 175. I was running between the 170's to 250's ( I know ) that's why I changed. I'm happy to say that for the last 4 days my morning level is ( drum roll ).......................... 110 yipeeeeeeeeeeee with a high of 150 through out the day. My new diabetes doc ( Dr. Diaz ) changed my metformin to 1000 mgs and said that I need to change my diet again before I'll be able to decrease it back down to a lower level of metformin.

With this new med I'm back to having the runs any suggestions on how to stop it. I've increased my fiber like my aunt said to do ( she also is a diabetic ) but I still make the trips to the throne room every 5 - 10 min. How long should this last ( Dr. Diaz said it will pass with time ) but my poor bum is feeling the effects ( very, very ouchy ).

Good Morning . . .

Linda . . . . . . Glad to see you back with us and very glad to hear that the new doctor is definitely on the right track. Afraid I can only repeat what he said . . . 'this too will pass' (pun intended) and hopefully sooner rather than later. I never really have had 'that' problem - just a little extra gassy sometimes.

Definitely did not sleep in this morning . . . was up and down all night worrying about the kittens . . . their 'play' got a little extra rough last night and Freckle got a tail bite from one of his sisters that was bleeding quite badly. Didn't seem to be slowing him down any and he also didn't really mind getting it cleaned up, but I kept waking up all night expecting to find a tail-less baby lying dead in a pool of blood He seems to be fine this morning . . . no bleeding, no pain, no lack of appetite or energy . . . so guess I won't be rushing him to the vet.

BGL finished up yesterday at 5.8 (104) and started this morning at 6.3 (113). As most of you know, I used to run closer to 5 (90) - or below - in the am and that's what I prefer, but I guess this is not too bad.

Found this delightful little article from Everyday Health waiting for me on my computer this morning . . . it's called "The SnackFood Hall of Shame" . . . and what I like best about it is that they offer recipes for healthy alternatives . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/photog...shame.aspx?p=1 . . . think I'll put this one in the "Recipes" Sticky for future reference -- some of the alternatives sound pretty good.

Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking day planned. Keep doing the good stuff gang. See you later . . .

Hi JEANNE . . . Dairy products are a combination of fat (except for skim milk), carb, and protein. Although I wouldn't have thought the amount you put in coffee would have that much impact.

Hi ROSEY . . . I understand exactly what you mean about pants . . . always feel like I should just hook the waiatband to my bra band and be done with it.

Silly me . . . I have Hungry Girl bookmarked on my browser, but I've never signed up for the newsletter . . . think I'll go do that now. You can never get too many healthy recipes.

Here I am again . . . . . . Somedays, I just can't seem to keep my mouth shut around here. I'll try to restrain myself for the rest of the afternoon .

Just received a new D:Life newsletter and it has a good article about Glycemic Index . . . http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowCo...mic_index.html . . .

They mention that the ADA still seems to think Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load are a little controversial . . . although they are beginning to lean a little more in that direction.

Anyway, I will put a copy in "Tips and Tidbits" for the time being. Maybe I'll eventually have time to expand it to a Sticky of it's own. In Canada (and Europe), the glycemic index information has been much more readily accepted by the Diabetes Education Community. I find it a very valuable tool.
