Another quick post since I'm here working overtime:

Anna - I'm so sorry you and Meara are going thru this.

Melissa - I hope that your DH gets the care he needs soon.

You're both in my thoughts and prayers. You too, taragettingthin - Let us know how your DD is doing with her surgery.

Theresa - You and I must be close to the same height. For me not to be overweight, I need to weigh less than 146. To be not-obese, I need to be less than 174.5. I've been under the obese line until recently, but my body staged a rebellion, and now I'm fighting my way back down. I chose my goal weight with the lower than 146 number in mind. My short term (20 weeks as of today) goal is to be 145. That would be Labor Day. It would be great to show up at my family reunion and not be technically overweight.

Aw, I'm so sorry, Anna.

As far as a number. I sort of pulled it out of the air and off a graph. About 10 years ago I lost 100+ pounds and got down to 172. I felt fantastic actually. I fit into a 12 nicely and sometimes a 10. I wore 28 inch waist jeans. Or course, I was still "overweight". I want to be as healthy as possible, so I'm thinking between 150-160 would be good. After I had my body fat numbers worked I think the magical number they spit out was 155. I'm not too worried out it right now though. It can always be adjusted one was or another. Got quite a few pounds between now and the last few.

I watched a Hula hoop routine on youtube. WOW! Amazing stuff.

Lisa - congrats on the new scrubs! I just changed from XXL to XL scrubs. And when I changed to the smaller size I got quite a few comments about looking good.

Yes, everyone who needs to, go buy new panties!! I love the VS 5/$25 ones. Just replaced my 5 year old (HOW EMBARRASSING!) pairs with new ones a few weeks ago. They were all falling apart at once. OK, different problem than all of you with them falling off because of weight loss and not holes...

Well, gotta start my day. Birthday party going on here for my little one who turned 3 yesterday. It's supposed to be over 70 degrees and we are so excited. It's been in the 50's.

Wow, this thread moves SO quickly--I'm not sure how others keep up!

I chose my goal weight pretty randomly. I've never been below 200 pounds in all of my adult life (I cracked 200 before I even hit high school), so I have no idea what is good for me. I also realize I may need to have a higher weight than others of my height and build to be healthy or "normal" because I will likely have lots of lose skin weighing me down, so I think 150 will still technically be overweight for my height, age, and build, but it won't be because of too much excessive fat, I don't think. We'll see when I get there...

Thanks. We did not have to do anything. It was only about a minute. Then it was over. Our scheduled tests will proceed and hopefully we can find a cause. She will be on suppressive drug therapy for two years. After that, we will take her off and see what happens.

I'm 5'10 and two years ago I weighed 140 and that was a good healthy weight for me (I have a small frame). So that is my target, basically to get back to where I was. According to the BMI chart I looked at, 5'10 and 140 is a "normal weight" with a BMI of 20.1 (the range for "normal" 18.5 to 24.9). Of course, when I was 140 I always thought I could lose a few pounds, so I might go to 135, but and I'd still be in the normal range with a 19.4 BMI.

Currently my BMI is 28.1, in the high end of "overweight". Boo hiss.

Yes, I did the "Ennay wants it more than once" category and ran 6 miles (that's what was on my training schedule)!

Isn't it cool seeing how many people signed up for it! What a great idea, I'm sure there will be more 3FC 5ks in our future!

Hi Losers!

The puppy woke me up early this morning, so no noon-time sleep in for me. My house is already clean....for Hubby's poker night last night...so, not sure what I'll be doing today. Maybe, a little shopping if the budget allows. I took the DDs to dinner last night. I must confess, I didn't stay on-plan. I think I let the stinkin scales get me down. They went back up a bit and I was feeling a little discouraged. No excuse for going off-plan....just a possible explanation.

Anna - Meara and your family are in my prayers. I hope the whole insurance situation evens out for you. You have more important things to be concerned with right now.
Purple - Regarding your question about goals, I just chose 150 out-of-the-air. I really have no idea what weight would be good for me. I plan on seeing how I feel around 170ish and deciding from there. I may feel perfectly comfortable with how I feel around that number. However, I keep remembering reading goal posts where the last 20 pounds made a huge difference in how people looked. I think it was Rockin Robin and Meg who both said that their legs or calves didn't get smaller until the last few pounds? I'd hate to get so close to my ideal body and not allow myself to see it through until the end. But, that's a long way away for me right now. I guess I'll worry about that later.

All this talk about new underwear. Anybody around here go bare?

Hope everyone has a great on-plan day.

onthetee - I giant and strength to get through this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Melissa - That stinks about being $200 over. DH and I don't have insurance either and it is one of my greatest fears.

Goal weight - I had picked 150 from the BMI charts. That put me at 24.9, just barely in the healthy category. Then after reading more about the body fat% I decided to go by that. A top weight for me for 30% body fat would be about 177 or so right now. I know as I lose some weight my lean mass will change a bit. So I guess my long term goal will be under 175 or a size 10 jeans. Right now I will be happy to ever get under 200.

I just finished ez's 5K in 53:12 which is a personal best for me.

I'm waiting until I lose a few more pounds to buy new granny panties. Another 10 pounds or so and I'll need a smaller size. I do occasionally go bare when I am running.

I am so excited. I finally found steel cut oats this week ($.59 a pound). How does everyone cook theirs?

You know, I don't, but I am considering it. I am not replacing underwear as I throw it out to see how I do. For me, it is an ecological/free trade issue with cotton. But I just don't know if I can stand it.

I just put one cup with three cups of water and bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. If I am not sharing with Will, I use skim milk. I might try it with almond milk this weekend.

I sprinkle on about 1/2 t of sugar (or more likely that much honey...I just happen to be out right now) and a ton of cinnamon and stir that in. I use frozen blueberries to cool it off.

Sometimes I add dried fruit. Sometimes almond slivers or walnuts.

then I eat it with the snugness that I often get with eating a bowl full of whole grains knowing that someone is eating a McMuffin somewhere.

I did my 17 stair climbs but haven't had a chance to do my 5k, will do it tmrw or tonite for sure tho! Want to get up to 25 climbs today so needa do 8 more tonite when I get back from the baseball game for Peep.

I'm at 610 cals for the day and trying to stay near 1300 or a little more. How come I'm not losing now??? I was losing a little when I was eating nearly 2000 a day! LOL. W E I R D. I hate the way my body doesn't do what I say!!!

Stuck at 201. It better go DOWN b4 the challenge starts. I want to be under 200!! Dangit!

Anna, you are one tough cookie. Your kids are lucky to have you to stand up for them and take such good care of them. You'd think that would just be a given but as you know I foster and sooooo many little kids have no one.

Rhonda, lol, go bare? Moi? NO WAY, hate the way that feels! LOL.

Chelle, This is the longest week ever! I wanna weigh in and start racing against myself and everyone else. Imma be a stair-climbing, WATP-doing, water-drinking fool!!!! LOL.

Hiya to everyone else here. Hope you all are just as excited. If we can keep the excitement here we can move some mountains! (of fat!) LOL.

Bye for now! Selina

Talking

Anna, I am sorry to hear that about your daughter.

I hope Mel and her Hubby are having an easier day today.

I did the 1st Annual 3FC 5k today on the treadmill. I was gonna take a pic but after the first 1.55, I had to pee, so I thought I had just paused the TM, but I actually reset it, so I had to start it over, lol! I'm so blond. It took me a little under an hour today.

I came up with my goal weight from some chart. I would like to be 125. That's what I was after I had my first child. That being said, before I had Matt (the 2nd baby), I weighed 135 -140 and was in the BEST shape of my life and was training to be an aerobics instructor. I worked out 6 day's a week for 1.5 to 2 hours a day and was all muscle. So I guess I'll know when I am there...it's not always about what the scale says IMO.

I'm doing the 5k tomorrow. I'm going to try and run the whole thing. So far my longest run without a walk break has been 22mins. My training run calls for 40mins so I'm going to try and do it under that.

The BMI charts say under 150 is not overweight for me. I have a lot of muscle these days though so 160 might be enough for me. I'm going to get a dunk tank test when I'm closer to goal and see what the BF% is. I'd like to get under 25%.

Hope everyone has a good day. Its rainy and blah here. It's my rest day from exercise, so I'm trying to clean up around the house and get some work done.

onthetee & Melissa--

onthetee--I have to say I have an aunt who is epileptic and I work with people on a daily basis that are prone to seizures and many of them haven't had one in years bc meds have worked.

5K--I should have signed up. I did a lot of walking at Spec Olympics today(I'm worn out). I could have worn a pedometer and maybe counted the steps and finished on my treadmill. Anyone know how many steps=1 mile?

Purple--I picked 150 because when I was there a few years ago after losing 128 lbs I looked fantastic. Although that is still considered obese for my height it looked good on me. I was wearing 10's in pants and 8's in skirts. So I will get to 150 and go from there. Trying to get below 150--I got to 149--got me to where I am today.....
