That's rough, Rhonda. It's so hard when distance seperates best friends. Good for you for not turning to food. It's a lousy comforter anyways.

I'm so sorry Rhonda. But good for you for not turning to food.

I'm hoping my weigh in tomorrow isn't to bad. I haven't been as good this week as I would like.

Default Getting Better...

Afternoon Blue Team...
See, I'm getting better already. 3 posts in 4 days, although two were on the same day.

Shay: I hope you find the "right" support for you.

Chelle: That 1/2lb and all the other lbs you're going to lose from all of that house work will come in handy for the next weigh-in. How's your fur-kid doing?

Rhonda: Sorry that your best friend has moved away. I know you'll probably talk to her on the phone between now and then, but it might to help release some of the sadness if you her a letter and mail it now so that it will be there when, or shortly after, she gets to her new home. She's missing you too. And, in goodbye conversations, we often don't say all the sappy things to each other that would make us cry.

Erin: Congrats on the NSV! Your work situation is very similar to mine. On those bad days, I want to call Dragon House (Chinese) and order two different meals and an appetizer. It would be a sodium nightmare. I'm glad you were able to banish the binge.

Fran: thanks for the Wal-Mart tip. I'll be stopping by there after work tonight. Hopefully, we have the same clearance going on.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Lastly, I'm posting a 1/2lb gain this week. Sorry, Bluesers . I am stuck at 244 and have been for 3 days. As mentioned before, I came back from Missouri 7lbs heavier and managed to lose almost all of it this week, but this last 1/2lb just won't budge. Grrr! Next week's weigh-in will be different! I guarantee it or my name isn't Orville Redenbacher. Oh wait, my name isn't Orville, is it? Hmph. Well, I guarantee it anyway.

By the way, Bluesers, are my posts too long? Do I use too many smilies? I don't want to and ramble like a country road and annoy everyone.

That shows great restraint. I wanted to snag a handful of almonds just reading about your depressed friend's outburst.

[QUOTE=likenoother;2034959]Good morning everyone,
I have sent Chellez a pm to say I am quitting the team. I am really struggling with my binge eating and I feel right now the only person I need to be accountable to is myself. This is so odd for me because I'm not a quitter but it is what I need to do. I will see everyone on the show thread because I will continue to watch the show because I love it. Thank you for all of the support.[/QUOTE

I am really impressed that you have the kind of self awareness that makes it possible for you to make this choice. Best of luck.

Hi all - just a brief check-in from me this morning. I am hungover!! "Dinner" last night was a wine and cheese with my girlfriends, and I drank WAY too much. Combined with TOM being due any day now, and I'm still at 200lbs even. SIGH. This week I am aiming to be more conscious of what I'm eating; even though it makes me crazy, I might start calorie counting again. I'm also going to throw a big pot of rice on to steam now so I can throw quick lunches together all week.

Do any of you give something up for Lent? I'm trying to decide what's getting the boot this year, and I can't think of anything. I've given up pop, caffeine, etc before, and I'd like to try something new this year. Any suggestions?

Shay - Lots of love to you - I hope you find what you need. Don't be a stranger, keep in touch with us all.

My sister is Catholic, and she gave up gossip one year.

awww Rhonda, sorry about your friend. It's tough to have a friend move away. About 20 years ago I moved from Las Vegas and was heartbroken to leave my best friend behind but through the years, through the ups and downs and all the changes, we have maintained a very strong friendship. Not the same as when we were in the same town, but still a great connection. Hang in there, kiddo.

I'm giving up sweets. That's what I did last year, and I feel those 40 days did a lot for my waistline. I'm also thinking about giving up liquor... I indulge far too often.

Hi blue team!! I haven't been keeping up very well... sorry about that.

Thought for the Week:

Did you know that a monthly 10 lb weight loss is just a 2.5 lb weight loss per week???

Good morning, Bluesers!

Week 1 of calorie counting was a real eye opener for me. I’ve been on Southbeach for a while…and I love the plan. The plan has taught me how to eat healthier which helped me to lose 30 pounds, lower my cholesterol and reverse my insulin resistance. However, I can only imagine how many calories I was consuming each day. Now, its no big mystery why my weight loss stalled. Some of my favorite foods are very high in calories. Now, I'm still eating healthy, but not really following Southbeach exactly. I'm still eating lean meats, lots of veggies, 1-2 fruits a day, whole grains only and healthy fats in moderation. However, I'm allowing myself some potatoes and some corn...just not everyday and not both on the same day. And, I still limit anything with HFCS or added sugars. I lost 3 pounds this week from counting calories. The scales were showing a bigger loss on Friday, but I must be retaining some water. Tomorrow morning, it will probably be gone.

I’m still feeling very sad about my friend and her family leaving yesterday, but I’m making a concentrated effort to not dwell on it. And, I’ve not used food to comfort myself at all. This is a biggie for me as I’m very much an emotional eater.

My goal for this week is to start exercising each day. For some reason, the exercise was a real issue for me last week. So, today, I will get on the treadmill for one hour.

Hope everyone has a great on-plan day. GO BLUE!

Monday's Question of the Day:

Since starting your plan, have you discovered any "new to you foods" that you now love?

My Hubby makes a wonderful Southbeach recipe for Spinach & Goat cheese chicken. Goat cheese??!! I'd never had it before as this is not a staple item in good ole country cookin. But, this stuff is great! The chicken recipe is delicious, but that is only one of several recipes he's made with this cheese. You should try his grilled spinach, tomato and goat cheese pizzas. Wow!

I have discover Turkey Meat, the gound meat to be a replacement for the ground beef I love. I still can't do a Turkey burger, but to use it for Tacos and chili it works great. We have also tried the turkey sausage, and I use the patties with 1/2 and english muffin, some egg beaters and a piece of cheese and have a breakfast sandwich (just open face) once a week for fun. My DS even likes them.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I was busy with my parents who are working ontheir house to be able to put it on the market to sell (and I thought my husband was a pack rat). We also took the evening off to watch the Super Bowl. My DS goes to a private school and they had a Dress in School Colors on Friday, which for them is Blue and White. My DS has a Eli Manning Blue and White Giant's Jersey and he wore that to school (he has had it for 2 years now - my DH is from NY). The other kids at school hurt his feelings (he is only 8) by ragging on his team and his jersey, he came home in tears.

I have to say that I was a bad mom this morning because I told him he could ask his friends at school, "How do you like my Giants now?" I know, but he was so happy that all his friends who jumped on the Patriots bandwagon lost and he, who has rooted for the Giants all season and last, won, I couldn't resist.

Does that make me a bad Mom?

Hey Team! I'm feeling "blah" today because I can't get the stupid scale to go down. For the past month I've been stuck at more or less the same weight. I've tried upping my calories, changing my workouts, and nothing seems to be working. I've taken my measurements, and while I have lost a inch (from 6 areas, combined), I don't feel like I'm making any progress, and I'm stressed because I feel like I'm letting you all down.

Lentils. When I started eating only local meats (mostly), I had to find another protein source. I hate beans of all kinds. They gag me, literally. I am a texture eater, and the graininess is a big gag trigger for me. Enter the lentil. It is small enough not to over power me, and it is full of iron and protein and fiber. I used to tell my pregnany moms it was the perfect pregnancy food, even though I would not eat them. I have started finding new ways to love them almost every week. The curried chick pea recipe? Cook the lentils in vegetable broth and put them in the coconut milk instead. SOOOO good for you.
