I actually in the works of concocting my devious plan
We did a travel challenge before like the one you mentioned Erin and it worked out well.
I liked Melissa's idea cause it was something new and original. I think if we do miles it may get redundant considering we have miles for the exercise challenge.
I'll try to get things worked on and finished up before the day is out. The auditor isn't here today so I can get some stuff done finally!
having a hard time staying motivated. Since the doc said that there is something wrong, and that we cannot fix it until all my labs are back, I kind of have the "what's the point?" attitude.
Obviously, i don't want to dig too big a hole, and I don't to break my habits for cal counting and exercising. But KNOWING that my results are going to be minimal is really disheartening.
I have a QOTD - What has been your favourite or most recent non-scale victory (NSV)?
My most recent NSV would have to be kicking the sugar (real and artificial) habit. I started my weight-loss journey as I have done in the past--cutting back my portions, replacing high sugar/high fat snacks with low sugar/artificial/low fat snacks, eating Lean Cuisines for dinner and lunch, drinking more water, using meal replacement shakes and bars, everything in moderation, blah, blah, blah. But after reading a slew of books, articles (in magazines and on the web), prompted by my husband's recent health issues, I've discovered, 'everything in moderation' doesn't really work for me. 'Everything in moderation' means relying on my will power to stop from going overboard during stressful times or just plain boredom when I've reached my weight-loss goals. My diet has evolved over time with eliminating most store-bought processed foods, eliminating white sugar, white flour, I make my own veggie soups, my own yogurt, and my homemade 'lean cuisines' and just recently made whole wheat rolls and bread.
My husband had a very bad infection that required hospitalization for a couple of days (he's home and much better now). During the 12 hour wait in the ER (till a bed opened up), the drive back and forth visiting over the next couple of days--the vending machines, fast food restaurants would have been so easy. But during this time, all I craved was nourishing foods. I can't reverse what is going on with my husband body (but I'm working on his eating habits--he did kick his addition to diet sodas--whoo hoo!), but I can keep myself and my son as healthy as possible to stay strong for whatever is in God's plan for us.
I have, but I am not currently. My cuz has his masters in exercise science, and is going to give me a new routine in a week or two. He wanted to wait until my labs were back to see what would get max results.
QOTD: My favorite NSV to date was hiking to the top of a mountain and being able to enjoy the gorgeous view from the top. I got to the top and kept thinking how wonderfully crazy it was that I was on top of a mountain!
A close second was finishing the Race for the Cure 5K. I'm doing my second 5K at the end of March, and, this time, I'm hoping to run the whole race (as opposed to walk/jog/walk/jog which is what I did before).
QOTD - What has been your favourite or most recent non-scale victory (NSV)?
Being able to pickup my son and carry him for more than 30 seconds before he was too heavy. Sinc eh just turned 8 he won't want me to pick him up much longer ... so I didn't want to lose the little time I have left to be able to do this (it is indirectly a scale victory, since I realized that I could carry him now because I have lost more weight than he weighs, pretty easy to carry 53 lbs when that is less than the 66 I was carrying around that I dropped)
Not feeling so great today...this cold has me feeling grouchy, ugh! I did manage to get in 45 minutes this morning before heading out the door for groceries and some errands. Going to try and get another 45 mns but we will see, depends on how I feel after I take some cold medicine.
SONJA...FrouFrou is a band I saw and I just liked the way it sounded, so went with it.
QOTD...I think my most recent/favorite NSV was when I tried on a shirt I bought a while back and it was a little tight. So tight that I couldn't button it and now I can button it...I was amazed!
Well the challenge is up. Unfortunately because of the day of the week it is we can't start til Sunday. I'll have the city and the excursions posted up today though so you can take a look at them and start picking them out!
