Hi y'all! I'm new to this community and I am super excited about beginning my healthy journey with such an amazing support group.

First name (if you want to tell): Leigh

Geographical location: Boston

Age: 23

Marital Status: live in sin with BF (ditto for me)

Children/Ages: none (again ditto)

Occupation: Sr. Acct. Exec.

Pets: Cutest guinea pig in the world named Rover

Height: 5'4"

Eye/Hair Color: brown/black

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: YESTERDAY! 9/20/07

Starting Weight: 147

Present Weight: still 147

Goal Weight: I'm hoping for 120, but as soon as I fit in a size 6 and get down to a healthy body fat ratio, I'm stopping! (well, maintaining)

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I have an insanely slow metabolism which usually means a discouraging plateau towards the end of week 4. I also hate exercising with a passion.

Following any specific plan: cooking my own (healthy) food and daily exercise. Thinking about NV once I reach my plateau, but that might be a very stupid idea.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have found this online support community! Also, it turns out that I have inherited my mom's insanely high cholesterol level, so I should probably do something about that ASAP.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I look forward to getting to know a bunch of you!

Smile Hi All.

Hi everyone,

First name: Steph

Geographical location: Ontario, Canada

Age: 25

Marital Status: married (for 1 year now)

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: Project administrator

Pets: the largest cat I have ever seen .... Elmo (20 lbs of furball!!)

Hobbies/Interests: reading, biking, camping, music

Height: 5'4"

Eye/Hair Color: green-hazel/ med. brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Started LA Weight Loss in June 2005, failed miserably not for lack of trying (ended up putting on more weight than I lost). Starting anew now, trying to go it on my own.

Starting Weight: 195

Present Weight: 194

Goal Weight: 140

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Family!!! and inability to break bad habits. Family eats a lot of junk food and few veggies/fruits, etc... but I also give in to temptation too much!

Following any specific plan: F-factor and exercise

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have always said I did not want to reach 200 lbs. Now I'm way too close for comfort. Also want to have kids soon so I want to be in good shape so I can actually chase them around (and want to have healthy habits that I can teach them so they don't have to go thru this too)

Anything else you would like to share with us: I've had a hard time in the past cuz as understanding and supportive my husband is, he's not willing to change his habits to help me (of course he is blessed with an incredibly high metabolism and can eat anything without gaining a pound... he actually complains that he can't gain weight).

Following any specific plan: not really. Just eating right and exercise.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I've always read that it helps to have another person go through it with you. Well, I've never had that person, and I'm hoping that joining this community, having people being able to call me out keeps my fire going.

First name (if you want to tell): Maria

Geographical location: Cali

Age: 25

Marital Status: single

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: personal banker/loan specialist

Pets: my 5 month old puppy Daisy

Hobbies/Interests: shopping till I drop, reading, hanging out with friends and family, writing short stories, traveling, listening to music, dancing, trying new restaurants, partying on the weekends, my puppy, and of course, sleeping!

Height: 5'4"

Eye/Hair Color: brown/brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: i've been on a weight loss journey ever since I went on my first diet at 11 years old

Starting Weight: 149

Present Weight: 148

Goal Weight: to stay between 125-130

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I've had pretty disordered eating since I was about 12 years old. I would go through cycles where I was anorexic, then bulimic, than COE. Either I'm starving myself or eating everything in sight. As I've grown older I'm definitely getting better at controlling these cycles, but it's hard for me to just stick to a healthy, normal way of eating. Also, I love to eat out with friends and I'm not a huge fan of cooking, so it's hard for me to cook healthy meals.

Following any specific plan: i'm trying to eat healthy, exercise at least 5x's a week, and stick to 1200-1300 calories per day

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: i've realized that I have to take control of my weight and my health NOW. My eating habits are unhealthy and I need to change them, not only to lose weight but to prevent any problems from developing.

Anything else you would like to share with us: nothing right now!

Cool

First name (if you want to tell): Jackie

Geographical location: Ohio

Age: 25

Marital Status: BF of 1 year <3

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: government cog

Pets: cat/demon, coco

Hobbies/Interests: hanging out w/pals and bf, shopping (although i've got a freeze on my clothing budget until i lose some weight), going to concerts, a little TV, movies, guitar

Height: 5'9"

Eye/Hair Color: green/reddish brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: First time: July 2005 (lost 50+, gained almost all of it back), This time: Early september 2007

Starting Weight: 257

Present Weight: 245

Goal Weight: 145

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: my old lifestyle of balancing school and work turned me into a fast food junkie. now that i'm out of school, it's still a bad habit to kick. taking the time to actually prepare good food, or at least waiting til i'm home to eat and zap a lean cuisine, has been rough. also, my friends love going out for dinner as a social event. it sucks eating a grilled chicken salad every time you go out. oh, and my town has a bar with the best grilled cheese and french fries on this PLANET.

Following any specific plan: Low-calorie and exercise 3-4 times a week. I try to stick in the 1200 range daily, but i'm intrigued by the calorie zig-zagging method and i might start to try that.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: last time was prompted by social/romantic rejection: a BAD reason for wanting to lose weight. this time it's for no one else but me, AND i have a lot more free time to focus on it since i'm no longer in school!

Anything else you would like to share with us: I've got a friend that I would love to give some positive encouragement to possibly prompt her to get interested in losing weight, because i'm a little worried about her health... but no matter how close the friend, that's never easy. Any suggestions? Or should i just be a good example and maybe be a positive inspiration without saying anything?

Goal Weight: 150 for now

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: emotional eating, eating because i'm bored, grazing, staying op/keeping track of my points, keeping up with working out consistently

Following any specific plan: weight watchers

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I just clicked this year. I was finally ready to make some big changes in my life. I am trying to be a better person inside and outside and weightloss is just another part of this change going on in me.
